depending on weather and my cold,do you fancy doing local ride on saturday morning???0 -
Hi there. I live in Sheffield and could join up with you if your about. Me and a friend have been up dalby alot. We also ride alot around hope edale castleton etc. Drop me a line to sort a ride out. P.s. We don't fly about at 100 mph though it's usually steady.
Cheers, pat0 -
went out for a local night ride, interesting conditions from frozen snow to sheet ice all good fun though.0

Keep an eye out, I think I'm correct in saying me and Altern were talking yesterday about a ride around Dalby inbetween Christmas and New Year. What with all the snow, it might be the best place to ride since alot of it is under trees.Barkey wrote:went out for a local night ride, interesting conditions from frozen snow to sheet ice all good fun though.
Think I'm getting too lazy, can't be bothered to clean the bike yet so ended up at the gym. Though I was tempted when I took the dogs out and found the trails to be nice and solid....0 -

as above what giggs has said,we also ride hope, edale, castleton area when we head over to peaks, normally do diff versions of ladybower route, giggs is normally 100mph downhill, where im shall we say, steady,or if i was a horse,id be slow, always wait for each other tho at top of climbs and at bottom.Giggsmaster wrote:Keep an eye out, I think I'm correct in saying me and Altern were talking yesterday about a ride around Dalby inbetween Christmas and New Year. hi and welcome daz, local ride for us is round brantingham,we use footpaths and bridleways round there, can be anywhere from 15 miles upto 20 miles depending on what route we do......if we go out futher,we ride north york moors/peaks/yorkshire dales and sometimes pop upto dalby, best thing to do is keep a eye on this thread for future rides,i normally change the main title to when and where we are going.0 -

Hi and welcome.
A few of us do a route around Brantingham area. Some of the route uses footpaths, so if you are considerate to the walking population then there is no problem. We use it often during the year with no trouble.
Here is the route.
If you keep an eye out I'm sure there will be a few rides sorted soon once this weather has calmed down.
EDIT: ^^^^^^^ OK, so you was posting at the same time I was typing.....0 -
yea i was bro, just looking at a route sandy is doing in lakes, dont think im fit enough to even think about it,never mind attempt it.....

If you look at the North part of the ride, near the Seatoller. Then down to Stonethwaite Fell.
Well thats the bit we did on the C2C, except we went straight over Greenup Edge.... Only took us 1hr 30mins to carry the bikes over that little baby....
Looks a nice ride though, warm up to the WHW....?0 -
sandy is on about doing that on saturday,i said about 5-7 hours to do the route depending on what the uphills are like.
warm up ride for WHW,the way we are going,it will be the only ride before WHW :oops:0 -

we look at starting rides round about 9-10am,and can be out for 3-6 hours riding depending what route we do..........we do anything from 15-25 miles on moors/peaks/dales,we aint been out for a couple of months,so will prob be looking at round the 15 mile mark for first couple of rides, build the fitness back up and then look at extending it,we always wait at top of climbs/bottom of descents, never leave anyone behind.
the WHW is the west highland way up in scotland,90+ miles,we are looking at doing it in may,so we need to get out to build up for it.0 -
googled the WHW and it sounds a great but difficult ride...... good luck with it
i'll keep an eye on here and join u for a local ride........lol
thanks m80 -
no worries mate,i was looking at doing local ride saturday morning, but going to give it a miss,as it will prob be to wet and boggy at mo,really could do with a hard frost to make it rideable.0
-
looking at doing local route at weekend, not sure just yet if it will be saturday or sunday morning, will know thursday for deff...all welcome......0
-
doing local route saturday morning, starting round about 9-00am from corby park(north ferriby),if anyone wants to join up.0
-
couldn't make this 1.... at work and ive got probs with the gears on me bike...
i'll get it sorted 4 next time0 -
no worries mate,it was very muddy in places, the climb up through the woods from the a63 wasnt to bad,but the climb past the cement works was awfull.....and the edge of the farmers field to melton wold farm wasnt to good either, the rest was good considering weather we have had......think we are looking at going upto the moors next weekend.0
-
Aye, it were a bit muddy, but at least most of it were sticky mud and not slushy mud...
By looking at this post, we might have to change to the Peaks for next week. Unless you want to do more of the pushing we did on the Moors this time last year..... :?0 -

aint cutgate always a mudbath tho :roll:Giggsmaster wrote:we might have to change to the Peaks for next week. Unless you want to do more of the pushing we did on the Moors this time last year..... :?
if you have a look on "is dalby open" on routes, seems as tho the moors is rideable, apart from the bit they did at cropton forest and tarmac to levisham station.0 -
altern_8 wrote:aint cutgate always a mudbath tho
Usually but it was far worse than normal. It also didn't help that it was dark and we were trudging up into a 60mph headwind with 80mph gusts
We actually managed a couple of bone-dry dusty rides on Cutgate last year.......the first time since about 2006
Whinstone Lee Tor is as bad as I've ever seen it.They're logging in the woods up Wooler Knoll so the trails are a mess in there as well.0 -
myself and giggsmaster managed a bone dry ride last year as well at cutgate,it was good to actually get some speed up on the top, rather then trying to pick a line through the bog that is normally up there0
