Yeah, I've had a look where we went wrong.
Apart from the obvious at the start, where we took the road up in the wrong direction.... There is the bit where we had to take a fork on the gravel section just after the water splash, well it should have been the right not the left...
Hopefully, it will be dry, so the (not so) waterproof maps will be ok0 -
hey up guys gonna tag along on saturday if thats cool?0
-
Fastpaul... Aye, that's fine by us. Think we are going to try and get to Reeth for around 9.30am and to start riding by 10am. If you don't know the way, we could meet at Leeming Bar Services.
I went on a quick local ride this afternoon. It looks like the local walkers don't want us on their patch. Someone has redone the fences between the forest section that takes you down to the Elloughton road. So, it's a case of bikes on the shoulder job....
And the sticks are still across the trails... :?0 -
did you see any dog walkers tho bro,and stopped to tell them they arnt allowed on path
weather for saturday is light showers at mo,and a very cold 11c,as long as its not as cold and wet as the pateley bridge ride0 -
It looks like the area is owned by the local Parish.
Regarding Saturdays ride, maybe keep an option open for the Peaks if it's raining on the Dales.0 -
sunny intervals now for saturday and 13c for dales, and light rain in peaks,im sure it will change again before saturday tho ....what ride would we do in peaks if we go there, depending on what weather is?0
-

-
i noticed the article in this months mbr about that,i read about the riding, then noticed the running bit, think i might struggle on the running as the last time i ran was for last orders at the bar

well nice little ride of 22 miles in dales today, some killer climbs and some great decents, specially the last one back into reeth, pity it was on a "footpath" but it was rocky, roots and drop offs .......giggsmaster bought a os map of the area, just a pity the bridleways arnt signposted on the route, would of made things a lot easier,we will find a good ride in the dales one day0
-
Hi All, just catching up on the forum, spotted this from altern_8?altern_8 wrote::roll: im hoping giggs actually has a good idea of the route without the aid of none waterproof maps
I think a few of you have iPhones? has anyone downloaded this app for your iphones? http://www.memory-map.co.uk/iphone/
I think free to try, but a fairly reasonable £25 for a bought version? I have an old version of Memory Map for the PC that installs to an old Acer PDA with built in GPS, I can upload maps and routs to it, then if I get lost or unsure of the route, just use the PDA to pin point where I am in the world, then go back to the paper map once I know where I am.
Like I say I have an old version of memery map; bridleways and footpaths don't change often, so if anyone needs a map of a ride send me the GPX and I'll run it through MM and create a PDF that I can email back, this can be printed to be used on a ride? I have 1:50000 maps of most of the North and 1:25k for the main national parks and the local area of east yorks. Let me know if this would be of any help?0 -
now then mate,i think giggsmaster is sorting something out with his iphone,so he can use it like a gps or something,he was on about it at weekend,im sure giggs will be able to tell you more about it,and we have maps of moors/peaks and bought one for the dales, thanks for the heads up tho about the memory map and maps you have.0
-
I'm in collingham in the morning so I'm not sure if i could make it.0
-

-
well even tho i said i wasnt going to dalby today, bro rang me up and we decided to go,it was a bit short notice so sorry for not posting,we rode from visitors centre to dixons hollow, then took road to re-join red route, just over 17 miles in round about the 2 hour mark......we are going to peaks on sunday, dont not what route or what time we are going just yet tho.0
-
you have a good ride I didn't get back from Leeds until 4pm, anyway you decided on your phone after millions of text you sent me about it lol.0
-
yea it was ok mate,id say its about the same as riding brantingham tho, there aint much that is hard, and i wouldnt class it as a red route.can you make it sunday?
as for phone,im not happy, last night the galaxy s was free on orange, but out of stock, tonight they are asking for £199 on contract for it,i can get it free on contract for £30/month,but i was only looking at £15/month tho as i dont use mobile that much,so looks like im back to start again, unless i go up town and see what deals i can get, aint had much luck on net,as for £15/month im looking at £140 to pay for phone0 -
I've gotta go down to London now so I wont be able to make it.0
-
no worries mate, dont know where abouts we are going yet,or even what time we are setting off, yesterday we was going to peaks but weather for dales is ok for sunday now
and im still no closer to a new phone, been on net for last 3 hours looking at deals and which phones are good :roll:0 -
altern if you are looking at a new contract go through top cash back and you will get cash back on a new contract phone
it takes a couple of months to get in to your account but its money for nothing0 -
