Hey guys hows it going, just thought I'd check in!

Sorry I haven't said hello for a while,.............

................if you're ever doing any non-hardcore routes give me a shout........and no I don't mean boring flat stuff like disused railway lines - I'm not that much of a cripple...yet!!!

The 10 mile what we did in the Peaks on Wednesday wasn't too hardcore, a couple of nice strenuous climbs to bust the lungs but just about manageable. Though I think they might cause the knees to buckle just looking at them..... And of course some good descents.

I think we will be back over there in the next couple of weeks, if the weather stays like it is. There was not too much in the way of boggy trails. We will probably up the 10 mile to 15, depending how our kid feels.

Yer I'm desparate to go out again.

Doc said he isn't going to tell me to stop doing stuff becasue he knows I won't listen!
But if I can't move then that's another story!

I'm off to Switzerland for 2 weeks on 3rd April but if it's before that give me a shout...as long as there is an escape road relatively nearby if I can't keep going it's all good :)

    Looks a nice ride!

The knees are quite bad :(
    Hence the referral.
It's rather poo but never mind! I am pretty much in constant pain at the moment not good, but like I said I am still trying to do as much as possible!

The doc said they are hoping that it may just be muscle inbalance becasue I have been skiing a lot lately and not doing so much varied exercise as I had done before........otherwise it's probably sudden progression of the arthritis I had in the joints :( Or...something else entirely, who knows hmm

You must have a decent insurer then, I hope if anything goes missing of mine they will be that quick. I hope the new bike ain't going to put ours to shame...

We found a nice little ascent in the Peaks last year which we did on Weds and our kid struggled on it. Anyway, we have given it the name of "Incline No.2".....

Here is the Route from Weds

I missed 1.5 mile off the start of the route, because I forgot to turn the Iphone on....

    Hey Peeps!!

Sorry aint been very active recently too, hope you're all well!

sl2371 - Sorry to hear about your bikes!! Thats awful! Keeps reminding me that I need to get mine insured, only probs is the place where I keep them isn't classified as being secure enough for the companies to insure them!

Heather - Thats poop about your knees! I hope they get to the bottom of it and find some way to manage them so you can get on doing gnarly stuff! :)

Haven't been out on my bike until the past couple of weekends. Rode up at Innerleithen whilst Matty was racing, did the XC course and ducked out onto one of the DH tracks, really really good!! The XC had a killer, techy climb to the top of the moor, then a sweet switch back, berms, small rock gardens and a few reasonable drop offs back to the fire road that I jumped onto the DH track. The DH tracks are ace, just a bugger of a push up so best to go on an uplift weekend there. Defo say the XC course is worth a go if you're ever up that way.
Was at Cannock Chase and Cwmcarn this last weekend doing the DH tracks there. Cannock Chase was a brilliant confidence giver for the absolutely sweet DH track at Cwmcarn. We did the uplift there and managed 9 out of 10 runs. Had a bit of a big crash, that wasn't my fault. Some tw*t stepped out in front of me whilst I was going down a steep slab, ended up flipping over the bars and doing my neck/back in, got to go for physio on it! :(

The pictures of your rides look cool Giggs and Altern!! So need to get out and do some XC, all this DH is sweet, but doesn't really keep you fit!! Depending on how my back goes, i'll be up for an XC jaunt in the next few weekends, i'll keep an eye out on here. :D

Got my first DH race at Easter!!! So so so scared!!!
    delightfully dangerous!

Hi Danielle, I was wondering how you were getting on with your Lapierre and the DH.

So how you finding the bike, definitley better than the GT....? Do you think you will do good at the race, where abouts is the race?

Are you having a good go at big drop offs and what's your jumping like. I can imagine the fitness is gone with all them lifts back up to the top...

Have you any pics of some DH action?

(I've just read my post back and sounds like a bloody questionaire.....)!

I don't suppose you have been over in the Moors direction since we were up there a week last Wednesday have ya? I was wondering if the conditions have cleared up a bit.

I know next week me and our kid will be going for a ride, just depends on what days I'm working though. So it will be a case of letting you know 1 or 2 days before mate.

No problem mate, im back to being free on a friday for some time yet! So just let us know when you can, you're always got my moblie number anyways.

Not been up on the moors since mate, nope. Did a 15miler around North London last sunday with my g/f in the sun! Its a strange thing biking with clear skys! lol.

We just did some singetrack riding, lots of cheeky footpaths just north of Watford, still not got a new set of cranks on the XC bike so she was leaving me for dead on her Giant Anthem! (there Race xc bike range).

Hoping to get out on the moors soon though, im at Silverstone this weekend! Might get out to Guisbrough and do some DH runs and stuff unless anything else crops up. Got abit bored of Dalby this days...

Aye, hopefully the weather has took a turn for the better now. Definitley enjoy riding in the dry than getting back to the car soaking.

I need to get out and about pretty often if I'm going to make inroads into the Coast to Coast in May, so I may be able to squeeze an extra ride in the week, as long as it don't do me over....

Ha ha! It does indeed!

The Spicy is sooooooo much better than my GT, its in a different league all together! Made a couple of changes to it to make it more DH specific for the mo, put on a shorter stem, a straight seat post and wanged on some Maxxis DH Minions, makes it much more stable and less twitchy for DH but too heavy for XC, no doubt when I want to do XC i'll be swapping everything back over!

The race is the 'Descent Gear - Clipped In' race at Moelfre in North Wales http://www.borderline-events.co.uk/
Not sure how i'll do but i'm going to give it a go. See normally out of a field of 200-300 riders there are about 10 girls :? so it will be more of a challenge not to finish last!! I was told if I could do Cwmcarn then the Moelfre track is easier and so should have no problems! Eek!

I'm managing 2-3 foot drop offs 9 out of 10 times, jumping is slowy getting there too, not getting massive air yet, just working out how to pump the bike at the right time and how much speed to take in at the moment. Learning how to stay off the brakes is quite difficult, but it makes sense as most of the times i've grabbed the brakes i've crashed whereas if i'd left them alone i'd have been fine!

Yep here are a few pics from Cwmcarn this past weekend -

There are some good pics there. One of them looks like there could be a big drop off coming up... I think you will be putting me and our kid to shame.

I especially like your new riding gear, liking the blue. I hope its not women specific because I might have to get a set.....
