  • Its not too bad to get there. We headed up to Pickering then through Kirbymoorside. Its near enough a straight, if abit narrow, road to Cockayne. We could meet in Pickering then drive up if you want.

Ain't too sure on the time, we usually start riding around 0930ish. We were going to start a little bit later, maybe 1100. Depends if you need to be back for anything, the ride should take us no longer than 3hrs 30mins - 4hrs taking into account any stoppages.

Me and our kid are easy, let us know if you are on a timescale.

is that cutting it a bit fine?

On Sunday, we set off from Hull at 0800. Started riding at 0945, got back to the car at 1320. Got home for 1540, that was stopping off for something to eat and with Sunday drivers...

So, if you can make it there for 0930, you should be fine.

Can't she borrow your HT....

I can always get our kid round tomorrow night and empty the car out, then you can stick the bike in the back if you don't mind taking it apart.

At least then we won't be rushing around on the ride, that's when it all goes wrong....

I'm reaally enjoying it! Only been going for about 3-4 weeks now on random evenings, i'll keep a look out for you. :) My chap is trying to get me to do a bit outside too, was up at stanage on Monday, just for a walk not climbing, and there were loads of people out! Was great to watch.

I've got a GT hardtail too! Whoop! Tis a GT avalanche 1.0 wMTB. Poor thing has been in the wars and i'm already thinking of replacing it with a new more hard hitting bike, such as a lapierre! They are such gorgeous bikes! My GT is good but not what I need now. What GT have you got?

Hope you guys have a good ride out tomorrow, soooo wish I could join you all, feels like ages since I was out with you all! Think of me stuck at work whilst you're all whizzing down hills!!

Any chance of a week day ride next week or an outing the at the weekend after this one? :)

  • Ooh I'm no where near good enough to be let loose outside on a sport climb lol !!!

Yeah I think my friend Sam went there recently too. I like watching the lead climbers at RC - purely because I cant do that yet, and I struggle with overhangs lol (one day!!)

Urr I picked up a GT agressor from Halfords a few months back. I've upgraded the pedals to DMR and tires to Maxxis - its a great bike really. Just starting to take it out and about - though theres not much to do my end of Hull (Hedon), so just end up biking to the bridge and taking round Brough, Welton etc.

Went to Dalby the other week for Go Ape, saw some bikers round there so I wants to try pursuade a few mates to head up there for the day!

    Wicked stuff!

You'll have to get out for a ride with us lot!! Its great fun! :D Right friendly bunch of peeps. I would recommend Dalby, its ace for a good blast out. I was up there this last weekend and finally completed the red route. Soo much fun! I'm off to wales this weekend (was meant to be there last weekend) and we're off to the trail centre Coed Llandegla!! So can't wait!

  • Yeah, looks like you guys have a blast - I joined a few months back and have seen some of the pics on here. Will have to tag along sometime - test my fitness lol!

I def want to take it somewhere a bit more challenging, its so flat round here. Only think I'm worried about is it being a hard tail, and the aftermath this might have on my backside! lol!

Wales sounds fun. No such luck for me. Think a spot of climbing sunday morning - but a chilled weekend apart from that. Might take the GT for a spin if I have any energy left

Cool. I don't know how I'd fair with you lot - I can ride about 10 miles then get tired lol. How do you ferry the bikes about? Got a car rack? I seem to be dismantling mine and putting it in the boot. Annoyingly this makes my breaks squeak after re assemble.

If your going anywhere next week just shout - I'll come along see how long I last on my puney GT lol.

Need a new hydration pack - any recommendations? Got a camelbak, but it has no space for anything other than water.

You'll be fine mate, my bike is like a tank so im always the last up anything hilly! And we don't race around or anything like that and never mind waiting at the bottom of dh's or the top of climbs. As far as i can, as long as your having fun, thats all that matters!

I have a Peugoet 306 and just put my bike in the back of the car for now, just put the seats down. I can easy get 2 big full sus bikes in with the front wheels off. Although I'll be getting a tow bar mounted bike rack which will take upto 3 bikes, within the next few weeks. So in thoery I should be able to take 3 bikes + 3 people (inc me)

  • Cool well then count me in for a weekend ride sometime if thats alright - I'de like to get some biking buddies. All my friends either rock climb or just are couch potatoes lol.

I can fit my GT in the boot of my (don't laugh) Renault Clio, but not with the wheels on! But getting anywhere wont be a problem. Do you normally just take a bit of food and repair kit on your routes?

Hey there is nothing wrong with Clio's! lol i've got one! :) I can just about get my bike in with taking the front wheel off. I've stratched all the plastic inside though with my pedals!

Thats cool! Yea you should get out with us all, as Matt says we're not into racing and we wait up for people etc. Its more about having fun and keeping fit :D

I know what you mean about mates, all mine are couch potatos too, rather sit and play on consoles or don't like to get sweaty! Wimps!! Only problem is, once you get started you get bitten by the bug and want to move onto more bigger bikes and bigger trails! You'll soon want a DH bike and a full face lid! he he!
