Bikes are one thing, legs and lungs are another, you wont have any worries keeping up with me mate :)

Hah I'll have a bone-shaking time doing it! To be fair, for where I ride and what I do with my bike its an alright piece of kit. Maybe one day I'll have a few K to splash out on the bad boy full susp.

Looking forward to taking it out for a spin with you all when possible!

  • Don't know if its a bit last minute, but i'm in Willerby tomorrow so am up for a ride if anyones available.

It will be about 3pm time i think.
  • Been out on the group monthy forum ride with MTBE.co.uk this morning. It was a great morning, about 20+ riders turned up in total. It was a good ride, not a really technical or long ride, perhaps 12-14miles in total. However a few of us did some of the black trail at Guisborough forest at the end, good fun. Although i did come off a few times, one quiet badly.

  • Hi guys, it looks like you’ve been getting out on some good rides lately will have to join you sometime. I finally got to try Dalby today, now what an experience that was. I’ve only really done the Brantingham route with Barkey and Rory before and the rest has all been on the road. There were 6 of us that went and we did the red route. It was an awesome day and I really enjoyed it, knackered now though, early night I think. I had to bail 3 times but I managed to stay on my feet so not too bad. I ended up completing the trail in 3 hours 30 min, which I was happy with as my fitness level needs some improvement. Anyway just though I would share and let you all know I can’t wait to go back.

I can keep up on my hardtail so you'll have no problems!! Only problems I tend to have in on DH when I think my bike can do more when it actually can so I come off! He he! They say riding a HT on trails makes you a better rider! Doesn't stop me looking for a full suss though!

Can't make a local ride early on this week, firstly as I have no pedals!! Left mine in leeds on my chaps bike. Secondly my legs are shot from climbing my first mountain! Completed Tryfan along the north ridge, and then onto glyders fach and glyders fawr, descending down devils kitchen. These are in the Snowdonia Mountain range :D Absolutely awesome! Then I did 14 miles at LLandegla yesterday on red and black routes. Black route was amazing! So fast and flowing! :D Great stuff!

Looks like you guys had a good ride out! Wish I could have made it. I'll be around this next weekend if anything gets planned :D

Ha you haven't seen me yet - very out of shape, regardless of my rock climbing business! lol - it'll be fun to test myself out on a ride. I agree, after seeing DH videos it looks so much fun! ... will start saving for the inevitable

  • So, then to anyone who are interested in a ride out on the North Yorks Moors on Sunday. I thought I would do three routes to chose from, all with differing terrain, uphills and downhills.

The first one is the route myself (I say this loosely...), Altern8, sl2371 and Matt did last Friday. It has a couple of nice loose rocky DH's and a good singletrack DH to finish off with. The only downside is the massive climb at 14 mile, known as the Incline...

    Here is the route

The second is a route which starts and finishes in the same place as the one above. It has three major ascents with two of them being leg burners. The descent into Farndale West, myself and Altern did early Spring so it may be abit overgrown at the mo. The other DH's as always in the Moors are pretty good.

    Second Choice

The third starts and finishes in Hawnby. It has a long but doable ascent to start with, then a nice technical DH switching to fast at the bottom at Black Hambleton. The ascent around the 10 mile point we have never done. So, it could be a case of being a steady uphill or a dodgy hike a bike for a mile or so..... The last DH is again new to us, but I have heard that it is very good.

    Third Choice

So people the choice is yours. Take a look at the routes, then let us know which one you prefer and stick your name down.....

Put me down plus one for Sunday please!! :D We're happy to do any of the three routes. They all look pretty good!

I'm just thinking for the newbies, maybe we want one with less 'hike with bike' as not to put them off! ha ha! I'm guessing lyrca man dan isn't going to be coming along anytime soon then?

Cool. We normally go tonight, but we all have man flu. It's going round at work.

Count me in for any of the routes - I'll go with what the majority decide as long as my hardtail comes out in one piece.

Feeling a bit shoddy right now with some random bug - hoping to get rid asap!!!

prob be better meeting up at pickering mate, danielle will have her and b/f in her car...me and giggsmaster will be in anouhter car...if you can fit 2 bikes in youre car im sure biggus will share fuel costs with you???
and i wouldnt worry about youre hardtail mate,i use to ride a hardtail all the time for 6 years up till last year.

so 4 plus me and giggsmaster upto now......for deff...dont know if mattharper/barkey or simon are free for sunday........and giggsmaster is ringing up one of our mates to see if he can make it.......

me and bro(giggsmaster)...reckon we will prob be better off doing the incline ride again.....theres no carrying bikes on that ride, might have to push bike up some of the climbs tho depending on fitness of diff ppl,but as the regular riders know we wait at top and bottom for ppl to catch up :D
  • No probs. Sounds like should be a good ride. I know my Clio barley fits my bike in, will try test out putting another bike in - if not will try borrow the old mans car which is a bigger so will be able to car share then.

Climbing was ace last night! Managed to go up a grade on the walls, can't remember what is was though, think its the one above a 5a. Learnt belaying too and hoping to get approved to sign on! Whoop! Going again this Saturday!

You'll be fine on your hardtail, I cope fine on mine! Its all about picking the right lines for what your bike can cope with, you'll be suprised at how much they can take! You should see altern on his HT! Whippet!!

I may have a lapierre spicy 516 on demo from rock city for sunday!!! Whoop!!!!! :D Otherwise if I don't have my bike back i'll be on my b/f's merlin again. :)

Huh?!! How have you wangled a free bike for the day?!

A 5a+, 5b? I'm not very further ahead, probably a 5c. I've just managed to do the pink self belay which is on the wall on the side of the lead climbing runs. Soo pichy, my fingers were bust after that.

Should get yourself on the trad walls if you haven't already. They've top roped two of them now, a lot more fun than coloured routes.

Ahh its not free! Its £50 for the day and if you want one you get the £50 off the bike. Sooo much money but so so nice!! Haven't heard back if I can defo have it yet but fingers crossed!

I did that pink one too!! Wooo! Did the grey one on the next self belay next to it too, with the massive but sparse blocks. Killed my arms on that one as I ended up doing alot of pulling and pushing up! Had a go on the trad wall too, really didn't have a clue where I was going! Started at one side at the bottom and moved quite far the other way by the end of it! Brill fun though! So much more thinking about where to go :)
