Presumably you have a standard bike that will have 1 1/8" headtube.

You need a 1/18 headset, either Bob's or Freetown will supply one for not much more than £15?

    Something like this:

Forks, headset and the star fangled nut you get with the forks will be all you need!

I can give you a hand with changing your front shock, if you brought it around to mine, I presume you will be changing your headset? They are a breeze to swap out.

freetown didnt say anthing about changing the headset mate, just quoted me price for new shock,im in two minds to get either the>Rockshox Tora 318 Coil U-Turn with PopLock or the Rockshox Tora 302 U-Turn Poploc Fork.....so any help on whether i need to order a new headset as well would help me out....i aint got a clue how to swap the forks or what i need to do the job

All you need to fit your new forks is an alan key, you unscrew the stem and top cap on your bike the old forks should just drop out then with a little push or mild tap from a rubber mallet. What headset do you currently have? It should not need replacing if it is a reasonably descent one! The trickiest thing you might have to do is put the star fangle nut in if it hasn't already been done. If you do have to replace a part it will more than likely be the crown race which you can get for a few £'s.

The Pig headset is a more DH orientated one its a robust design, if your looking at FSA you would be better off with an Orbit. But if he is considering replacing his headset a Hope or Chris king is the way forward will last longer than the bike :p
I would hazard a guess that your scott had an integrated headset so you would need the equivalent replacement.

Sorry to hear mate, but then again we wouldn't be going biking at the weekend anyways.. At least we didn't have a ride planned for the weekend. Just think how fast you'll be when you get your new front fork

I've been to Dalby this afternoon, more getting used to my SPD's then anything. Did a full loop of the black to start with, then sessioned the descent of the black down from Staindale, (which is the bit where the red and black spilt on the corner of a fireroad. Did that run about 7-8times. Nothing like abit of 'gnarly' bits to get you used to being clipped in.
