Hi all, new to this forum, but I'm from Bev, just got myself a new bike the other week in prep for me joining RAF (got a bit of time to kill till oct)...

Only got a couple of routes atm, old railway track (the one which goes to M.Weighton) and a couple of 10milers... just looking for something 15-20miles with not as much road biking, any routes?

Hi. You could be pretty much stuffed around here if you are wanting some decent hill riding. Like Matt said, Peaks and Moors are great for some action, but if you ain't got any wheels to take you there, then the OS Map that Barkey mentioned is your best bet.

Hill riding would be good, but with the area being flat as anything its just back roads and onto the track. Been thinking about just jumping on a train to sheff or where ever but the problem with that is... where the hell do you go if you don't know which direction haha.

I'll figure something out :D... all i need is my brain and my bike

it was good to be back on bike saturday, after 4 weeks out with ankle, did 17 miles on hull/hornsea railway, then back through elerby, skirlaugh and wawne on road, did it in hour and 20 mins, ankle didnt like the big bumps and couldnt push hard on junctions or the slight uphills, but apart from that it was good........cant believe how much my legs/arse where killing me tho after being off bike for that long

hoping to do same route again during week.......its good to be back tho.....

Good to hear your back on the bike, my ankle is bit dodgy every now and then (sprained it back in feb, but i think i may have hairline fracture :s).

I was talking to my mate today, says if we have a day off together (we both work at same place and are both Forklift drivers) he'll come with... so thats good. Just need to look at getting helmet, new tyres and camelbak on tues. :)

Hey. Brand new bike newbie here. Have just purchased by first bike since I was a kid. Really wanted to get back into it - so bought a low range GT to get me going. I live in the Hull area (Hedon) and could use some good tips of where to ride this summer!

    Thanks

just got in from a weekend of beerness!
took the mountain bike with road tyres in the end as i needed to carry tent etc
left the shop on saturday night and took the road through wawne to brandsburton, stopping at fosse hill camp site. really good pub on site and home cooked food.

went to filey yesterday in time for the footie, booked in at blue bolphin, watched the footie, went to the pub, went to the club.......

came back through brid and hornsea today, stopping at my folks house for tea.

very very sunburnt and shattered, but a good time has been had!

AJay85, what do you want to do? on road, off road, hills etc?
a nice quiet route is the sproatley loop, it goes through hedon area. it is all on B roads and is about 40 miles on the flat.

i live in wawne, and tend to go out towards benningholme/skirlaugh then onto hornsea rail trail, which is fairly tame/flat, or up through tickton and back down the river bank,or down to the humber bridge and towards brantingham which is more testing and hilly (in the process of putting my routes on mapmyride.com). I will be up for meeting up one night a week and getting some miles under my belt as am doing my mountain bike leaders level 2 award in august so that i can teach mountain biking at my school. Must be something about ankle ligaments as i to am recovering from snapping mine.

Ay up there... I never thought you were that fit, I was always in the thinking that you were a total p*sshead when you were at Scamps. I suppose it was a fair few years ago, plenty of time to get some exercise in.....

Thats the route me and Altern8 go out and back on lately, just to try and get the fitness up abit. Think we are probably looking to go out sometime in the next couple of days, but it will be in the daytime I should think. Unless he has other plans.

I did a recce on this route today. Found it to be decent (although pretty flat) particularly the off road sections. Plan to ride it in reverse one night next week to see which i prefer.

Thinking Tuesday @ 5ish if anyone is interested. Can start and finish @ the waggoners in Wawne
