Si the bbc weather on the news last night was saying we was getting heavy snow all friday night into saturday morning, while on the net it said it was snow/rain showers for a couple of hours,at the moment on the net it is saying we are now getting snow from 7pm till 1am then snow/rain till 4am,i think it will be a case of wake up saturday morning and see what we have
  • Aye, there are some conflicting reports, I was going to leave it til Saturday morning anyhow. So if the snow has come down quite abit, is anyone interested for an off road ride....?

Finally got round to fitting my new chain which ive had since 9th january to my Cannondale hardtail this morning and decided to head out for a bit of road work,it also gave me a chance to test out the new Schwalbe land cruiser's i got at the same time of the chain a work out.

All i can say is,i now know why Giggs always leaves me when he is out on his semi slicks, couldnt believe the difference compared to the big nobbly tyres on the full suss,i did the same route i did a couple of weeks back which i did on the full suss and knocked 15 mins off the time,14.5 miles in a hour and 5 mins,so im very happy with the tyres upto now.

Just need to have a look on the net for some cheap riser bars as the flat bars on the Dale arnt very comfy for my back at my age

Lol. You sound like me a few years ago. All my mountain bikes miraculously morphed into hybrids. Before long you'll be ditching the forks for rigids, going full slick and slapping on bigger gears..........

I wouldnt go that far Ouija,i dont mind doing a bit of road work to get the fitness up but i get bored of it very quickly lol,and the Dale has complete lock out on the front which at the moment doesnt matter anyway as the suss aint working,it needs a service/complete rebuild,it aint done to bad tho as its done well for a 14 year old bike :D

All thats changed on it is the semi slicks i have on now and i use the seat/seat post from the full suss.

  • Is it road or off-road Stu and how far will it be?
  • its on road, there are a couple of options for distance..... ill dig the invite email out.

    Dear Stuart
Enjoy cycling and fancy a challenge this Spring? If so, why not have
a go at our Heart of the Wolds Cycle Sportive on Sunday April 28th.

The event starts and ends at Driffield Showground and all three
routes take in the most beautiful parts of the Yorkshire Wolds,
offering spectacular views and some exciting cycling.

The Challenge - A 134 km ride with over 1200 metres of climbing and
a regular series of ascents and descents throughout; this course is
only for the toughest who relish a real challenge.

The Classic - Our 100 km ride is a real tour de force of the highest
sections of the Wolds, offering a stern physical challenge to
cyclists of most abilities as well as breathtaking scenery from the
    rolling peaks.

The Rudston Challenge - Our 52 km entry level route will appeal to
most recreational riders or those wanting an introduction to Cycle
    Sportives.

Entries are £14.50 for the shorter route and £19.50 for the two
longer rides and registration can be done online or via a hard entry
    copy.

More information about the event can be found at
    www.woldssportive.co.uk or contact me on info@woldssportive.co.uk /

I'm liking the sound of this but I've not signed up as yet, which route are you doing?

Might join ya for a spin if ya don't mind :D
If ya aint 1st, yer last!!!
  • I'm looking at getting out on the MTB on Sunday to do some road work, if anyone is interested in joining me. Don't know how far it will be, but a couple of hours at a easy pace.

    Kingswood-Beverley-Walkington-Little Weighton-Bentley-Cottingham-Dunswell-Kingswood.

The Wolds Sportive depends on my fitness by then, whether or not I'm sign up. So it could be a late entry for me, it would have to be the 100km if I do it though.....

Si.... It was on this page, the one at the bottom. £150 raw finish.

If you name a good price, I may think about selling.... You were right about it looking abit dodgy with the 26inch wheels in there, so I might look at going down the Exotic route.
