the local route is the worst i have seen it. even the long straight 'first' run was boggy, and it never is!
the 'last' run to the a63 has been worked on, some new jumps in there now.

off on a midnight ride with british cycling tonight. im full of cold and its a friday night, ... im going to be misrable!
  • How was the midnight ride with British Cycling Stu, where did you get to?

Another Cyclo-x race for me next weekend in Brighouse, see if I can finish higher than 4th from last this time.....
  • good luck in the race giggs, ..... at least you finished.... and started! LOL
the night ride was ok. we ended up in a pub at cherry burton, got home just after 2am

gave my new lights a try... serfas thunderbolts....WOW!

everyone had little led blinking stuff, it was fun on the country lanes, for me anyways!
  • Hi,
I am a newbie from Hull and looking for local rides inbetween visits to dalby. Heard people talk about spooky wood near south cave and other areas around Hull.
Any other suggestions for rides in this region??

Hi and welcome, there are a few of us on here who do a local route round this area which takes in bridleways and footpaths(which can be illegal),there are diff variations on the route depending on how long/short etc you want to be out.But as Bobs Bikes has said the local route is a bit of a bog fest at the moment,so imo id prob give it a miss unless we have a heatwave  .

The only thing i can suggest at the moment is to keep a eye out on here as a few of us post on here if we are heading out anywhere.

    Ok no probs
  • Yeah, as I our kid says Si, I will be doing another Cyclo-x race on Sunday in Otley. Try to improve on my 2nd to last a week back. It was a bit of a bogfest, with a good push up a 40% climb.....

Just purchased Geax Gato 1.9 for my rear wheel, since I needed to clear out the mud at the top of each climb, hoping they will help with the clogging. Should go ok with the Mudx on the front...... All in the name of fun though.

Giggs if it is really boggy trail rakers are good for that
Also I'm gonna have a go on flat pedals are the super star pedals any good

have a go on mine if you want to see if you like them
the good thing about 29ers i think is you can get another set of wheels or just tyres and you have a good in between road bike
  • Noddy.... It's not too serious for me at the mo, probably more fun than anything and keeping bit fit at the same time. Loving it though, I'm not used to taking a rigid bike on a downhill....

Si.... I had the Mudx on the front at the last race, felt great on the cornering and not too draggy. Problem I had was on the rear with a 2.1 Ignitor, it was just clogging up with not much clearance. So I wanted something thinner, with low rolling resistance and a little bit of grip on the sides. Hopefully I've found it with the Geax Gato on the rear, soon find out. I was looking a 1.5 tyre, but that would be just plain daft....

Trail rakers are a thin tire
The 2.1 looked more like 1.95 so the 1.8's would probably be close to a 1.5

Im looking at going out on the local trails at some point during the next week,so if you want me to try out the new tyre for you i will do,seeing as you have broke youre toe nail and cant make it out for a few weeks
  • Aye, never did find out how that tyre responds in muddy conditions, nay mind....

I'd say it's more than a broken toe nail though.... :(

    Dude is your ankle pregers
  • it does look abit dodgy.... I now need an ankle strap for my right leg....

By the way, Superstar Nanos are good flat pedals, very nice grip. Though, I've only used them and Crank Brothers 50/50's.

If ya aint 1st, yer last!!!
  • Thanks Pete.

Feels nice and cosy between the toes.... :)
  • Oh that looks a good one mate! Im currently en route to Belgium for a couple of days biking. I don't think I will find any challenging hill climbs!
  • Nah, I don't think there will be too many hills out there, but they do have a few nice little climbs on the classics in the Spring, so you never know.....

How come you have gone there Stu, just a couple of days away?
  • yeah, just took the ferry. two nights on board and a day out peddling to ostende and brugge. £48 quid!

was bloody warm for november! 18 degrees and not a cloud, great time.

what did you do to get your ankle in that mess? it is an impressive lump!
  • Not a bad deal that Stu, I was thinking of going across to watch a cyclo-x race, but at the mo it's doesn't look possible with the dodgy ankle. Could be off the bike for a few weeks yet.

I did it at work, only coming down my steps and mis-judging the distance to the floor.... Crack.... :(
