With the snow we didnt manage to do this last Sunday,so fingers crossed we are looking at trying again this Sunday(12th),look at meeting at 10am for a 10-30am start,if anyone wants to join us youre more then welcome.Pete are you still ok for this Sunday?

Yeah, like Altern Says, we have done part of that route a few times. The route across Hograh Moor though should be done the way they did it on Sunday and not the way MBR say..... Definitely a good singletrack DH. Looked like fun in the snow... :)

Its just a shame the rides always start at the North end of the Moors, or we would have joined in on a few by now.

Sundays ride was a good one,a couple of nice climbs, but the last downhill into Chop Gate made up for all the pain.

This weekends ride isnt anything special, just a ride out on road to Hornsea, and then back on the old railway line, just to keep the legs going on Saturday, and then looking at sorting something out for the 4th March up on the NYM.
  • I'm at Dalby early Saturday morning if anybody is there for 7.30 ish start. Red route with a few splashes of black.

Also anybody got recommendations for a full suspension bike, I'm looking to move up from the hard tail.

Just Hornsea and back for me and Giggs 2mor,as we are off out later in the day for a few beers and a meal.

As for a Full Suss, just depends on what youre budget is mate?

i was at dalby today we did the blue route up to marker 27 on the red route then followed the red back to the visitor center
altern i'll be at yours for 10:20 on my cross bike
  • Loved Dalby today, full red, tried to beat my best time, but went too fast at start I think and properly hit the wall round setion 30. Thinking about a trip to Llandega next week.

As for the bike, I think I could justify up to £2000 for a full suspense as a social rider.

A couple of lads on here will say Trek,Giggs will say Mondraker,i aint owned any but id say look at Lapierre or Ghost or look at buying a frame and building one up to youre own specs.

Dalby Red today for me, got round in 2h14mins so i've lost a little bit of fitness over winter but i'll get it back 8)

Conditions were perfect apart from the very DeeeeP braking bumps & that really rough bit right out the back is horrendous

I'm out with the MTBE Forum lads next Sunday if anyone fancies it? 18 odd miles on NYM taking in the Incline :P

Something needs sorting out with the Deep braking bumps as they are everywhere now,i know we shouldnt be moaning about it,but for a trail centre its suppose to be flowing.

As for Sunday,at the moment we are looking at going up onto the Yorkshire Dales and doing Great Pinseat and Gunnerside Gill.Dont really fancy the Incline at this time of the year either Pete,as i will hate it
  • They're trying to restart Dalby dig days. Looking for volunteers/feeback on the trails. Next dig day is 18th March. Please take a look at http://www.singletraction.co.uk/phpBB3/index.php, and if you can't help out at least have some input with ideas.

I think most of us have already said about the really rough bit, and I partly agree with the braking bumps, but they don't all spoil the flow and some add more fun hitting a different line or pumping over them. IMO Dalby is riding the best it's been for ages.

And that is one of the reasons why the trails are getting torn up,due to ppl taking a different line, making the trail even wider then it should be with chicken runs to avoid the bumps, for the amount of ppl who use Dalby one red route isnt enough, imo it would be better with two.
Ive gave Dalby anouther go again this winter, and i still would rather get out and hit the natural trails, that is why mountain biking is so much fun for everyone,as we all have our own oppinions on what is the best place to ride. :)
  • Theres still room on the trails to take a different line, without going wider.

I'm same as you, although local dont ride dalby much and prefer the moors. If we do ride dalby its normally off piste stuff. We were hoping to get bit more technical things built but looks like that might be bit off a push.

Put your ideas on the forum.

Yeah Si, I'm still up for it if you are, just let me know what dates you can do then I can work round that.

In The Lakes at the mo, done a nice route from Grasmere to Coniston this afternoon. Very good 19 miles, but some tough climbs.

It took me along Loughrigg Terrace to Rydal Water, then around the back of Ambleside to Brow Head Farm. Up over Loughrigg Fell, with some great descending at the other side. Onto a HUGE climb up to Black Fell, which took me to Iron Keld, then another great descent to Arnside. Then over Oxen Fell to Hodge Close, taking the Bridleway to Holm Fell and down to Yewdale. Finish off with the Permtted Bridleway back to Coniston....

Obviously had a better day than me then. Decided to head round to Helmsley and then down to Malton after my usual run around Dalby. The Scarborough road out of Malton is shut so i had to double back and go out via Malton roundabout, which i hate. Worst mistake of my life as i got slammed into by a car exiting onto the A64 and spent the rest of the day in Scarborough A&E (which at least had the benefit of getting me back to Scarborough faster than i could of ridden). The bike looks like a right off, it's taken me ten minutes just to get the back wheel out from between the seat stays and i'm not entirely sure the hanger, derailler and frame aren't bent (too beat up to give it more than a cursory look at the moment).

Still. At least it justifies owning all those other bikes ;) and the guy who hit me was only too eager to cover the cost of any damage as well as any money lost due to being off work. Seemed genuinely mortified.

We have done some parts of that ride before, there are some good routes we have done in the Hawnby area before.

Jeeez Ouija, not good about your accident. Thats one of the main reasons I stopped doing a bit of road riding during the winter, can't trust the other road users at all.

Hope it all pans out well.

Nice timings there Pete, do we hold you up that much..... Good to hear its dry up there, that's why we are riding Friday, before any rain comes in over the weekend.
