Nothing i know about mate, you should maybe try joining us on a ride and see what you think of some natural trails.
pete80>meet at 10am to 10-15am,hopefully start riding round about 10-30am0 -
Not really anything like Dalby around here Buck, just the usual flat ground with small hills..... There is only the drop down Elloughton Dale (on footpath) which bears even a little resemblance.
I'm not sure if I heard about any descents around South Cave area on here, maybe someone could put me right...?0 -
Giggsmaster wrote:I'm not sure if I heard about any descents around South Cave area on here, maybe someone could put me right...?
I seem to remember there are a couple; if you are heading toward South Cave from the aerials near Weedley/Riplingham, just as the descent starts there is a track to your right. this drops into the top of Comber dale then climbs to just above a quarry then drops back to the A1034, it used to be a fire road type surface as it was used by the quarry vehicles. There is also a bridleway that start close to the top of this track that ends up back on Beverley rd. There are also a couple of "cheeky" trails that drop down from Austins stone down to Drewton dale.
I've got a day off on Tuesday, so was going to have ride out on some of the local trails, I'll ride over to South Cave and see what I can find and let you know0 -
Yeah, that will be good to know Noddy. Could be a nice summers evening epic ride from Kingswood, across the usual tracks, then hit some new ones....
Had a good ride on the Moors today, taking in the nice descent of Black Hambleton. 20 miles in total, good day out.
Here are a few pics...

Must say i enjoyed todays ride, even tho i was ready to throw the bike at the bottom of the climb up Locker Bank with the chain suck i was geting, and seeing Giggsmaster and Pete80 disappear up the climb,so i had to put it in middle chain ring and granny at back,20-25 mins behind the leading two i made the top0
-
Yeah gotta agree with Altern & Giggs was an enjoyable ride with a couple of nice testing climbs.
Stu, No way was you 20-25mins behind on that climb, What you need is some very fetching aero dynamic overshoes
Still haven't had chance to clean the bike yet :shock:If ya aint 1st, yer last!!!0 -
You boys would leave me for dead, another 6 months training and maybe I'll get there! I did the red in 2 hours 58 min on Sat, how does that fit with you? The bloke in purple mountain reckoned people can do it in under 2 hours; frightening!
Quick question, are there showers available at Dalby? I need to go on to somewhere afterwards where turning up stinking and covered in mud wouldn't go down well.0 -
i went out for a ride today and supprisingly found a little park, 2 mins from my house, with a little skills area in it. it aint no dixons hollow, but its got a seesaw and a bit of jumps and hills and a northshore esqe planks. its off cycle route 66 south of chamberlain road. search brackley close, hu8. its good enough for a giggle.0
-
.... and i fell off the seesaw! really need to sharpen up before april! haha.0

No showers that i know of. But you could always strip down to your undies outside the bikewash and get someone to hose you down with the pressure washer.........0 -

Worked it out with Giggs tonight,i was about 15 mins behind you,as thats what it took me from the corner half way up to get to the top,ill give the "gay" overshoes a miss, you have been on the dark side to much, and i still aint cleaned my bikepete80 wrote:Here's a link to the ride we did on Sunday

As Pete says you would be fine mate,im always at the back, and the other lads are normally waiting for me.As for youre time, myself and Giggs did it a few years back in 2 hours 45 mins, and we thought we was fit then. And yea some people can do it in under 2 hours, Rod from Freetown Sports can do it in 1 hour 40 :oops:bobs bikes wrote:.... and i fell off the seesaw! really need to sharpen up before april! haha.
Thats what you get for riding the Hull-Hornsea line every week
And if anyone fancies a ride out this weekend,Giggsmaster has planned a route out(route map and meeting point to follow),think he said 16 miles, not to sure yet on what day as watching the weather at moment.0 -
Above is the route we are looking at doing this weekend, its marked with a thin blue line  (blame Giggs) starting Here, its around 17 miles.
At the moment myself and Giggs arnt to sure if we will be going on Saturday 4th or Sunday 5th,it all depends on the weather forecast of snow,we will make a final decision Friday morning,if anyone is interested in joining us.0 -

What sort of time are you meeting at Chop Gate? And whats the usual travel time from Hull.
I can maybe get a pass out on Sunday? It'd be good to get out with you all but I'll have to check with her indoors :oops:0 -
Off the top of my head, which normally means im wrong,i think its about a hour and 45 mins to get to Chop Gate,we normally look at meeting around 10am for a 10-30am start, but as anyone who has met up with us will know, you can prob add a extra half hour onto that as we are normally later then we say
Like ive said tho,it all depends on this snow thats suppose to be hitting us,if we can drive,at the moment we are looking more towards Sunday.0 -
So, we are looking at Sunday for the ride. Just been viewing a couple of weather sites and it looks abit nippy tomorrow but a perfect day on Sunday. Like Altern says it all depends how much snow we get on Saturday night.
Noddy... If you get your pass for Sunday, with not knowing how much snow there will be until Sunday morning when we get out, do you think it would be a good idea to meet in Hull. Say Kingswood Mcds, so we can make the decision? Just in case posting on here, we may miss the message.0 -

Looks like I can't make it - she's got other plans let me know if you are organising a mid week ride sometime and I'll get the day off?0 -
Sure it won't be more skiing weather up there over the weekend? I'm forgoing my Saturday morning at Dalby for the first time in 6 weeeks!0

It'll be perfect weather up there; a couple of hard frosts and a dusting of snow! soft compound knoblies and 5 - 10 psi less air perfect I just wish I could get out0 -
It will be fine on Sunday, the weather forecasters go over the top,Chop Gate at the moment is only having a snow shower, then its a nice warm 6c on Sundaynoddyh wrote:It'll be perfect weather up there; a couple of hard frosts and a dusting of snow! soft compound knoblies and 5 - 10 psi less air perfect I just wish I could get out
By the looks of it,we will be looking at going out every weekend at the moment, should be a good one on Sunday.0 -
Maybe worth getting a second opinion on the weather!!
MTBE have riders intending to ride from Gribdale above Ayton tomorrow but there is quite heavy snow falling here at the moment.
Why not check out the MTBE site for a weather update???

Just got back from Dalby. Freezing wind on the way in and snow as soon as i came out of Purple Mountain and headed back. Can't see it clearing up by tomorrow....0
-
Theres about 3inch of snow here at the moment, pickering. Like ouija said i cant see it clearing but i'll be up bout 7ish n will post a weather report, if i remember. On the plus side the ground is hard, if you can see it!!0
-
At the moment Myself and Giggs are going to wait till the morning, but as it stands it looks more then likely we will just be doing the local route,we dont mind riding in the snow but its the travelling up there on the roads that could be a problem.
Thanks for the heads up magpie316/Ouija and Royal Dragoon0 -
Got a good 3inch on the ground here in York :P so it's gotta be worse up there!!!
It's the drive to Chop Gate I don't fancy so i'll give this week a missIf ya aint 1st, yer last!!!0 -
We have about 3-5 inches in Hull at mo,Giggs is the same about the driving over to Chop Gate Pete, will look at doing the above ride on the 12th feb instead.0
-
