I'm heading to Dalby, as need to make sure I'm back in Hull early afternoon. Intending to get to Dalby for an 8am start. Any joiners welcome, if only to laugh at me falling off when my courage exceeds my skill!0

Lol. Heading out to Helmsley from Scarborough tomorrow morning, going through Dalby on the way. So if you see a middle aged bloke with glasses and a blue peaked cap riding a hybrid based around a Kinesis Maxlight XCPro give us a wave. Or if you see me in Purple Mountain and shout "Ouija", i'll buy you a coffee. Honest0 -
We was all set to take on the North York Moors yesterday(Saturday),but woke up to the weather saying there would be 60mph gusts in the east,so a quick re-think and we decided to head to Dalby instead.
Started off at Dixons Hollow, took in parts of the World Cup Course and Red route to take us to Worry Gill.
From here we followed the Red route out to the top of Medusa, then a quick blast down to re-join the Red route out towards "Jerry Noodle".
Had a quick look at the north shore and decided to head down it,only for Giggsmaster's bike to decide there wasnt any grip and wash out from under him, good job he had his lid on,as he hit it hard as he went down.We re-grouped and carried on down to take on some of the old Red route, and some cheeky off piste stuff, which was fun,we re-joined the Red route between marker's 22/23.
With the use of some red route and a route some may miss from the toll booth at "Bickley",we headed back to the car,at which point sl2371 had to leave us.
Took a stop for 15 mins and headed out again along the World Cup Course, dropping from Adderstone field to the fire road, and hitting a cheeky hidden downhill which drops you out at the bottom of "Medusa",climbed up the World Cup Course to take a left onto the Green route, and then onto the Old Red Route again to drop us back into Worry Gill,Then the World Cup Course back to the car at Dixons Hollow.
Nice 16 miles with some nice climbs and hidden descents some peeps might miss.0 -

No worries, there are a few lads on here who go every week to Dalby, might be worth you posting on here if you fancy going. As for Llandeglla, its abit to far for a day trip from Hull,as it would take us around 7 hours just to get there and back ,so it would have to be a no from me.0 -
Awesome conditions at Dalby today, bright sunshine and cold! Full red done, considerably quicker than last week. Either getting braver or fitter!0

Was you on road again Ouija?
I didnt make it out this weekend, but im looking at doing a bit of local stuff on Tuesday instead, some bridleways and cheeky footpaths  ,just hope it stays frozen till then,or it could be a bit of a mud fest.0 -
What time on tuesday I will see if I can make it0

-
Where is nut wood then
Refresh my memory0 -
The "garlic woods" with the bomb hole, normally park across the road from it HERE,next to Raywell house.0

....and as its my birthday, beer shall flow!0 -
I went through Nut Wood on Sunday, dropped down onto the low road, big mistake, would have been better off in waders for the mud!0

Hopefully it looks like the ground will be frozen in the morning0 -
Just a heads up for those on here who go around the Brantingham area(just outside Hull),as the walking fraternity have placed tree stumps and branches across a few of the paths, they are on the route from Welton Heights Riding Centre-Elloughton Dale and the path that takes you to Spout Hill.0
-
Oh, suddenly that makes sense. A couple of weeks ago I came flying off, over the handlebars, after there was a log lying across the path in the bit heading down to the stile before before the hill overlooking Elloughton. It was half hidden where a tree half obscures the path, so couldn't see it until too late. I dismissed the possibility that anyone would have deliberately placed it, I mean who'd do that? Militant ramblers......0
-
I think I know the section you mean too; but isn't there a Bridlepath that forms a 'T' junction on part of the path? If so it could be a mis categoriesed bridlepath from the junction to Spout hill? I found this on IMBA's website:Eh ? Suddenly a bridleway changes to a footpath
You are planning a bridleway route from an Ordnance Survey map, and find that one bridleway becomes a footpath after a stream. What can you do ?
Firstly, check the status of the route with the PRoW department. This is probably listed as an anomaly - usually at parish boundary, typically where two parishes surveyed the path and came to different conclusions as to its status.
The PRoW department may have evidence to show that it is all bridleway - in which case you may ride it until it is proved otherwise.0 -
Regardless of its classification, to set out to cause others injury isn't good form! I must admit that I have no idea of where MTB can and can't go with regard to footpaths and bridleways, but would say I am always careful and courteous around walkers and the majority of them seem very affable and happy to share the great outdoors! However, you detect some surliness and scowling from others.0

Im not to sure buck, but i think they are put down to slow us down, but i could be wrong, when i was out yesterday with sl2371,he had to get off at one point to move a tree branch that had been put across.
As for MTB's on footpaths/bridleways,the law is a bit obscure. In short,If you ride on a footpath you are committing a trespass against the owner of the land, unless use is by permission, and its a civil not a criminal matter.I know on here somewhere, there was a thread about it all.0 -
sorry for the delay, im in shop today giggs. ill pm you.0

Had a nice little jaunt up on the moors on Monday,13 miles of double track in the wind and sun,bit hard going in places but glad i got out.
Looking at sorting something out for this Sunday,if anyone fancies it,more details to follow.0 -
Going up onto the Moors on Sunday, starting HERE,heading up along Cleveland Way/Little Moor/Arden Great Moor then down Black Hambleton,a loop around Douglas Ridge then onto the climb up Locker Bank back onto Cleveland Way and head back to the car, should be around the 15 mile mark, plenty of double track so hopefully shouldnt get too boggy or muddy. As per normal, everyone welcome to join us.0

Had a cracking ride on the red today, nice bit of mud without being too hard going. It didn't start well, I had an off five metres from my car in the car park due to the black ice all over the car park! The road out of Thornton Le Dale and down to Low Dalby was an ice rink, as was the car park itself. Am I being too picky in saying that there are grit bins all along the road, perhaps using the grit might have been an idea? I saw four cars lose control just as I was setting my bike up!
I worry I'm addicted to Dalby now, I like the trails, is there anywhere else similar near to us in Hull?0 -
I'll be there for this ride lads, whats the start time?If ya aint 1st, yer last!!!0
