not really crashes a bailout on a steep hill that got 90deg left about 3ft then another 90 deg right you could go straight if you wanted but i don't think my bike could take a 8ft drop off with no real clear space to land. Another winding through trees and the ground just gave way at no real speed. Then I found a new hill that was mega steep had to bail out just couldn't keep the bike under control I was having to use both feet as brakes as well.

    it was all good fun.

Morning, Rory! Evans only got the order paper work through on tuesday (bloody royal mail) so they are putting the bike together, so I should get it tommorow or next week?!?

I have a little bike to ride around on, a Marin Bobcat Trail, which I got through our works's cycle to work scheme.

I have a new car, bought some cycle carriers and going to get a roof rack so we can get our bikes on.

I have some narrow tyres you can have, they came off the Marin so they are brand new. Pop round and grab them or we can fit them here? Let me know?

    See you soon.

Thanks, still waiting for the SX, nevermind!

Regards, the French fisherman, what a bunch of militants! Last time I went to France we were delayed due to a blockade, I offered to go out and "have a word" but anglo-french relationships is not my strong point, since I nearly caused a riot under the Eiffel tower....

I bought a MRP XCG Triple chain guard for the remedy but didn't know the XTR used a different tool for the left crank arm which i don't have. so I've left it in the shop as it looks like not much is happening this weekend, I'll just bomb upto brantingham and back on the hard tail.

what is the new car quake also what stuff did you get free I'm always up for a bargain.

Hey Quake. Sounds like you ave ben one busy guy these past weeks, still, good to hear some progress on the bike.
Oh n thanks for the offer on the tyres but may i ask how narrow is narrow, or the make of them? Was thinking of gettin some Maxxis High Rollers in a smaller width then the current tyres. Rave reviews and quite cheap, you were gonna get a pair was you not Barkey?

Hello they are 2.1 I believe, and made by WTB. They are a good tyre, fast rolling and grip well in dry conditions!

    The SX is here! Hurrah!

Spent the day at Hamsterley forest on their national spec DH runs today. Had great fun, came off a few times, but the best bit was jumping across the Forestry roads :D

I dont have enough skill or balls to do the National spec main DH run though, lots of tricky 4ft+ big drops that go straight into corners, not the mention the 6ft drop in the middle and then the somewhat 15ft+ drop at the end... One of the guys who I went with did it and I was lost of words :o then again, its a double black grade trail...

Theres great technical easy/intermedate runs, type of things you would find on most black runs :D

Not to mention we had an uplift service which took us back upto the top of the runs :D

(No pics this time, too busy riding at my limits and making the most of the uplifts)

I've got Kenda Nevegal 2.35 which seem good enough for now and I run 2.1 Panaracer Pro Fire xc on the hardtail.

Good to hear you got your bike Quake! oh btw you'ev now got to post the obligatory pic of a new bike in the kitchen

Hey Matt, its a Log Cabin holiday for the week. We will be based as Strathyre not far from Calander and Sterling, maybe places like Laggan Wolftrax, Comrie Croft, Carron Valley maybe Fort Bill but a bit of a stretch so we will see. Wont be doing anything too adventerous, the bike I ride is cross country biased but I think you have already seen a photo of it have you not?

Nice part of Scotland, we drove though Callender on the way to Skye back in Feb. I would epect theres quiet a few good trails to do around Loch Lomond, even up some mountains if your feeling upto it. Theres an Epic XC ride starting at Kinlochleven (in Glencoe) round Loch Eilde Moor, round the mountains heading upto Loch Treig, then south to Blackwater Res, and descend back though the forest to Kinlochleven. And of course you might know already that acess rights are different in Scotland, basically if theres a path you have right to ride it.

Of course south of Edinburgh is Glentress and Innerleithen trail centres, closer to Sterling is a place called Comrie Croft trails, although its only a 6km red, you might be able to tie it in some trails found via maps. Or just do it to kill a morning, etc.

    Hope that helps..

Not seen a pic of your bike, i dont think..

Good to hear you had a good ride out today Matt, sounds like some nice little drop offs up there....

I was speaking to my mate from Leeds the other day and he was saying he had been at Stainburn. He agrees with you that it ain't a bad little place for a jaunt, so it looks like a could be a ride out over there sometime.
