The path you Hike-a-bike down IS the path/gully that's in all the route guides etc
We now use a totally rideble fast alternative that skirts just above Gunnerside Gill proper 8) It's mostly a cheeky trail but we've never actually seen anyone on it 8)
Sadly it's my w/e of nights or I'd be glad to show you, haven't ridden there for a while and would like to give the new HT a blast up there as I've only ever ridden it on the FS

We missed the path completely last time we was up there, and had to hike a bike down near the waterfall at the far end of the gully near Blakethwaite

We found it on the 3rd attempt with an OS mapped GPS 8)
The track we now use we found by accident and judging by the tyre tracks a lot of riders must've done the same :D
  • Hi Guys,

I am from Beverley and getting back into biking and wondered do you ever arrange any trips abroad, because this looks awesome Pass’Portes du Soleil.

  • Jon.... I think we may be trying to sort a local ride for Tuesday, depending on weather. I think Altern will be posting later.

Ibbo.... I see Ratty has posted on the Routes section on Walna Scar improvements, are you looking at doing that shortly?

Divingmoose.... Does The Lakes class as abroad...? We ain't done any at the mo, my mate does Mountain Mayhem, but I think the furthest I will get is Scotland. Hopefully looking at actually completing WHW next year after failing this year....

Looking to go up on the Yorkshire Dales on sunday, dependant on weather........doing part of the Gunnerside Gill ride that was in last months MBR,with some of our own route thrown in,ill try to post a route map......its a mixture of single track/double track/open and exposed areas and some hard climbs, but what goes up must come down :D

Also looking at doing a local ride on Wednesday night starting HERE in Kingswood pub car park at 6pm.

If anyone fancies any of the above rides and wants to join myself and Giggsmaster, everyone and anyone welcome.

Long story short, my kona cadabra frame has a tapered headstem, so I've had to get 2 headsets to get the right fit as I have 1.1/8 forks. But my forks at the bottom where slightly tapered for some stupid reason (we're talking about 2-3mm) so I've spent about 3-4hrs sanding down the inner of the crown race and the stem itself infront of the tele. Hands = shagged. The bike didn't cone with bushings either or the front derailleur hanger, luckily quake has been helping out so I'm nearly there, just need an e-13 derailleur and I'm good to go after a setup.

Had it 3 weeks and not been able to ride it yet, so I'm a tad worried about fitness on Sunday... I can imagine what your idea of "a couple of nice climbs" are!

You didnt miss much Callum, apart from gale force winds blowing me back down the hill id just climbed, and the wind slowing us down on the descents

Cheers to Giggsmaster and Pete80 for waiting at the top of the climbs for me,i just had no energy.

They are tapered for a press fit into the crown, it just seems that marzocchi run very large tolerances, its pretty dumb! Coupled to the fact its a steel steerer! I reckon I could grind a little of the material away for you, to get you going? Let me know....
