For those who know what "Walna Scar" use to look like from the top down to the bridge, this is what it looks like now, after the repairs done to it,due to the floods

Myself and giggsmaster are going to Cheedale Wye Valley in the peaks this sunday, meeting HERE at 10am for a 10-30am start,it will be a nice steady 15 mile ride as there will be a bit of map reading as we havent rode the route before, and it looks like the weather could be warm for us,if anyone is free?
  • Would like to make this ride Stu,but I'm out for a heavy drinking sesh Saturday night so if I'm not there for the 10:30 start time you know I'm not coming
If ya aint 1st, yer last!!!
  • Well we know what your like Pete, you will probably turn up at 1040 half drunk....

And then do the whole ride with no water or energy drink..
  • Hi there,

Hoping you guys can help me. Just started biking after knee surgery and being unable to play rugby! Really enjoying it, but am getting a bit bored of the same route (a mate came out with me once before moving abroad). Can anyone recommend any routes around the area.

At the moment I leave Willerby go to Raywell, up and through NAb Wood then along the track there until I get to a lake (near Bentley I think??), round the lake then right up a hill to livery yard where i turn right up the parish trail which brings me out on that high hill above Elloughton where there's a bench and looks out over the estuary. Down there then on road to Welton, up chapel hill through the woods, down past cement works, across to scout camp then through Ferriby and along the path under the Humber bridge, through Hessle and back to Willerby.

Also I seem to be getting a puncture every time i go out; almost always on rear wheel, is this just bad luck or something wrong with my bike set up?

    Cheers, all help gratefully received

We've just spent a glorious week up there(t-shirts all week!) but rode a few new rides so didn't manage to fit in Walna so we'll go back up and ride it in a few weeks 8)

The majority of us on here are from the hull area mate,we normally go up on the moors/peaks or dales,or do a local ride on the outskirts of hull.

Giggsmaster didnt manage to get up Walna at weekend,so im still none the wiser mate.

If anyone is free this weekend, myself and giggsmaster are looking at sorting out a ride, more info 2mor :)

I mean get the train in to Leeds its got better riding than a lot of the moors, its mint ill have to do some more moor riding though
  • Leeds? Better riding than Moors?
Mmmmm I'm sure theres some nice trails North Leeds way, but I would rather ride NYM if I lived Hull way.

I live South of Leeds by the way.

I know what youre saying, but I like technical woodland singletrack to moors riding, but happy to compare if I can get on one of your moors rides
  • I've been on a couple of rides from Chapelallerton area. It is a good ride through the woods with some good singletrack and short ups and downs. I suppose it depends on what type of riding you like, I would class it more of a night ride or a quick Sunday afternoon blast.

Where as the Moors, Dales and Peaks offer abit more epic riding, with longer descents and ascents, and (boring... ) doubletrack cross country trails. Also though, with some great technical swooping singletrack DH's.

Cockayne Figure of Eight being a good example, managing to fit gruelling ascents with great singletrack descents and nice doubletrack climbing all into the bargin of only 16 miles..... But, that one needs to be tackled in the dry.

Looks like the ride at the weekend is for Saturday. Thinking of either doing the White Peak area or South Dales, depending on weather and what we can agree on. Should be decided tomorrow, if anyone fancies it.

I do like epic rides in the peaks, and moors are always good for a long ride.

If i was staying in Leeds id prob join up with you,but if i want a quick fix of woodland singletrack during the week,id prob go upto Dalby.I suppose it comes down to each of us having our own preferences :)
