Silly Commuting Temperance Society

So is the temperance society actually enjoying their voluntary abstinence from enjoyment?
I had Monday and Tuesday night off the booze and endured horribly vivid and involved dreams - must get back on it and deaden the brain. Black tie event tonight so its going to be the full range - white wine with starter to brandy and cigar...woooho!
p.s. get well soon DDD.0 -
Oh, DDD, you have my all my sympathy.
Until June last year I'd never had toothache and so had never understood why people didn't just take a few painkillers and MTFU when their teeth hurt. THen I picked up an infection during root canal treatment - OMG, I wanted to die. I have never known pain like it, not even when my shoulder used to dislocate (and that was so bad it made me faint).
Toothache has to be one of the worst pains in the world. Hope the antibiotics kick in very soon. Meanwhile, if you're not on prescribed painkillers then Boots coedine and paracetomol are quite effective.0 -
DonDaddyD wrote:Toothache (which is ghey) last Wednesday, I thought I could MTFU through it. It got progressively worse until Friday.
Friday, left work desperately in search of a dentist couldn't get one until Monday to do emergency work...
Friday and Sat night were sleepless due to the pain
Sunday, I was taken to A&E
Monday the right side of my face had become infected and swollen from the abscess too the point the dentist couldn't treat me... (Also I couldn't speak and my eye was nearly swollen shut).
Am on antibiotics and pain killer's until Monday when I can see my Dentist. I need a new dentist...
I'm going to blame all of the above for my increased irate postings recently....
Not quite JenJ level but the sheer unending pain (and failure at every level of NHS treatment) is horrific.
It's annoying because I'll miss the stag-do's (this weekend and next weekend) and I can't properly see out of my right eye (or get a contact lens in) until swelling goes down so no riding bike for me.
Painful. Definitely have my sympathies. I had toothache a couple of years ago, so the dentist extracted what was left of the tooth and the nerves.FCN 2-4.

Ah, racks of ribs. One of my faves.
But the oven you say? nonononno!
The trick is to steam them over beer/cider + apple juice/pineapple juice (pick a combination) slowly for a few hours. THEN, when they are almost falling apart, smother them in BBQ sauce and finish them over a low bbq or in the oven. Re-baste with more sauce regularly.
Sh!t. I've just dribbled on my keyboard. NURRRRSSSSE!!!!!!0 -

Yep that's the ticket, they've been lovingly floating in a tray of water for many juicy hours, then drained off and coated with a sticky, spicy & sweet home made sauce and cooked/steamed some more and finally topped off with more of the same sauce, then end result will be ribs so soft and taste you can eat the bones
Served with southern fries and onion rings - BEER lots of BEER

Eurgh... I hate that sweet sauce that you seemingly always get with ribs.
I, conversely, have just had a rather nice king prawn curry hand-crafted to a recipe from my new curry cook-book. Oh yes, I'm 'working' from home today...0 -

Got it done, with a Jim Beam and coke, and, um, if I've done it correctly the govt owe me money. I have no idea how that works.0

The dental studio opposite the theatre is good for quick appointments. First time I went I was seen on the day I phoned, and when the tooth cracked I was seen immediately. Expensive though
Hope you get well soon.0 -

Oh dear. I'm off to the pub tonight, and I may have a pint. It's been four weeks. This has, however, enabled me to identify that chocolate/the amount of food I eat is what needs to be addressed.FCN 2-4.
