Great. We have a small but tight group of MTB. Lots of expats and locals. Limited trails but still pretty good. Sometime making trips to China and Taiwan. The worst part about MTB is the weather. Hot and very humid. e.g Yesterday was 34c (in the shade) and 95% humidity. You sweat like hell 8) but it is all good. BTW I posted some more pic's in "Your ride" thread.Vodka anyone? "Honk"

Hiya,
Im Keith from Burgess Hill West Sussex just outside Brighton and am 34 years old. Just bought my bike after an 18 year lay-off. My last bike was a modified Raleigh Mirage with Deore XT and as many lightweight bits as I could fit to it. My new bike is a Kona Cinder Cone 08.
I will be riding purely for leisure rather than transport whereas I used to ride for transport however I'm fast finding out that I'm five stone heavier and not quite as fit as I used to be.

Hi all - I've realised I haven't done this yet!
I'm Pete from NE Hampshire (Fleet/Farnborough/Aldershot way), 19 years old, and I've been riding for 4 years or so.
My (nearly) 4 year old GT Aggressor 1.0 is pictured below. As you can see, it's fairly heavily pimped out with new kit - the only original parts are the frame, saddle & seatpost, handlebars & grips and the stem. It's been really good to me, and the upgrades have made a huge difference.
Anyway, that's me.

Hello all, my names Daniel (Danny is better ). Just got my new bike after 12 years without one, so far so good but I'm starting to feel where my saddles been! Looking forward to meeting fellow riders in my area (suffolk/norfolk), hoping to take a trip to thetford forest some time.
Any hoo, here's the bike (read: money pit), Kona Blast 2008, in need of lots of new bells 'n' whistles.

Hi all,
Just registered after reading for a while and here's my 1st post
I'm Cliff from High Wycombe.
My bike is a Trek 3700, the 2010 model. So far I've only changed the stem and handlebars, which feel much better now.
Here is me on my bike.........

Already been reading lots and posting a bit, soI thought I'd better be polite and introduce myself.
I'm Simon from Wiltshire, 41 years old.
Been riding bikes on and off ever since I was a nipper, but a year ago got more into it after advice from the quack over weight loss and excercise. I've managed the latter, but still slacking on the former. Will try harder!
My first mountain bike was a Marin Palisades back in the early 90's the ones with the dayglo forks and stem and the odd oval cahinrings. It was great, but I suffered some financial issues before I propely learned to ride offroad and had to sell it. What a shame I loved the matt grey and dayglo colour scheme.
Bought a Daimondback Sorrento in 1996, but that was not a real offroad bike and was only really any use on towpaths.
My current ride is a Kona Blast Deluxe 2008 model which I bought last July. Still learning the real techinical stuff, but loving the challege, if not the crashes :roll:0 -

indeed it is an 8".....my lil lady says, size isn't everything, but i believe bigger is better
now back to the bike, I needed a rotor and it's all i had lying around, it works fine, doesn't weigh too much, and i've never been thrown over the bars yet so what's the biggie?
well i know if you get to big of a rotor and at speed some rotors have been known to vibrate and some people have had to go to a smaller size.
Just make sure your forks are rated to take an 8" rotor otherwise the torque can rip the rotor out of the dropouts.
Hey all!
Quick update...
now, for all those who were concerned for my safety, I know that the front rotor on Martha was too big but I just could not get an adaptor to fit a smaller rotor...trust me i tried!
So...as I now have Rose to get me dirty, cut and bruised....Martha has become my commuter.
A set of Surly 1x1 forks, a 180mm rotor, some kenda kommuters and dropped the stem by a couple of spacers for a lower riding position.
I finally found an iPhone holder too! works a treat, it's from a website called gpsforless.
Allows me to map my rides using gps and see how fast i'm going
And so Rose didn't feel left out she got some new pedals and tubeless tyres, Bontrager Jones ACX (2 for £40 on offer)
My girl wants me to put up a pic of her baby too, so here's Lady Myka (original i know)
All she's had done is some colour coded DMR V8's...so far !!
and she will not let me remove the wheel reflectors! I use all the usual reasons to ditch them...added wind resistance, extra unsprung weight, rotational displacement, look dorky...etc, but she says safety first, never mind the fact she doesnt ride unless it's sunny out lol.
Anyhoo I think i've taken up enough forum space, so back to you!0 -
I'm currently living in east anglia, but have family in Shropshire. Just getting into 'real' mountain biking, so wanted to give the old stead a couple of rides out before i spent cash on a newb... Well I soon got bitten and so here's some pics
The Original Bike.
This is the old warhorse leaving it's last run!!
Just got this new one!!
Sorry about the poor pic of the newb it arrived Thursday lunchtime at mny folks and I had to leave it about 45mins after it got there. I did have time to build it up though.. Thinking I need some new pedals as these not only feel dire, but look like $h*te...
Ah well. Gonna get into it with some trail stuff around north/mid wales, then see how adventurous I get.
About half way around my first trail (Red at llandegla), I did the whole superman thing, when the trusty stead lost an argument with a large outcrop of slate!!!.
Anywho..
I'll stop rambling now.
I'll post some better snaps next week when I get back west..0 -

LMAO... i don't go riding with my other half, 1.) she refuses to get a new bike, even though she has 2gears and no rear brake (also its a 15yr old rust bucket) 2.) shes too damned slow! haha0
