which means in total I've done 82 miles and feel like I could happily ride home tonight. (can't as I've no lights)

...........fresh and perfectly happy to ride the extra 12 or 13 miles from the finish in Chippenham to Bath.

Once you get up the small climb under the footbridge on the A4 it's all downhill, sort of till you get to the Landie place.
I've added a signature to prove it is still possible.
  • Yep : and there's the little drag from the Sainsbury's roundabout up to Corsham and the drag past the RAF depot and then smile all the way to London Road :

    Happy boy today!!

@Running Man - congrats on the new bike, can't fault the choice (though bit envious of the equipment level) !

No-one up for a challenge this morning, left behind herds of hybriders on the way in, most of them wearing trousers. One guy who looked promising on a red and black Condor appeared at VB lights but didn't maintain the pace (hoped it was JonGinge but i think he has a longer mane than this guy) and was gone by embankment. Oh well, keep some in the tank for tonight.

That seemed harder work than normal. *checks metcheck* Ah, that's why...

Not that many out on the roads this morning. Maybe they followed the weather forecast a bit more closely than I did. Brrr.

were your forks flexing too much?

it felt like a hefty headwind most of the way, still managed to drop a SS'er fairly easily and a little later someone on a flat bar bike pulled level with me and the wind must have hit him and he couldn't continue his attempt, I smiled and span off... phew

I'm glad I'm not the only one who struggled. Sleet in my face going up the last hill.

But, I have managed THREE commutes in the last week!

  • Left from home a little later this morning and rode in with really cold rain and sleet blowing in my face. I'm pretty sure I didn't order that?

Came up through Sandy Lane and down the A4 and the road surface is total sh*t. I've probably said this before but coming up to Sandy Lane village from Heddington is a bl**dy lottery. There are 2 inch deep ruts running along the road and some wicked potholes.

I'm going to treat myself and pootle home the scenic route tonight : unless of course it hammers down in which case I'll be going the shortest fastest way tonight :):)

Sitting here still a trifle disconcerted. I should have been as stiff as a board after yesterday but feel ok and ready for tonights trip ..... :o

Double Ditto. And the office shower only stays warm for the first 30 seconds at the moment. :( Really not what you need in this weather. Seriously considering WFM (Working From Majorca)

Was particularly cautious this morning given the damp roads.

Had a tit-for-tat with a rapid hybrider (no backpack, but wears a Bat-belt of some kind) and a black Bianchi. Finally put distance between me and them after Parlt Sq.

Well, I am looking out of the window at the snow which is falling and contemplating putting my damp kit back on and cycling home. The only things which make it worthwhile are the fact that I am unable to take my laptop home to do too much work this evening, and the fact that that headwind I faced this morning should blow me home.

Oh, and the fact that it is only just after half past three is helping my moral too......

That was one heck of a tailwind. :D Not often I get slowed up by free flowing traffic up Queen's Ride.

    Ditto on the wind front.

I got blown home in 12 minutes less over 11 or so miles than it took me to get to work.

Mind you, it took me two hours to feel my toes again afterwards. Overshoes tomorrow, I think.....

Embankment was shut from around Embankment tube to Temple this morning. Looked like a crash involving a scooter - it's front end was a mess. Hope the rider's ok. :(

Police were on the scene, but ambulance was long since gone. Anyone know what happened?

Went through westminster a bit late due to 2 unscheduled deflations. Victoria Embankment was still shut at ~9:30. Got routed up through Trafalgar Sq., which is always... interesting. Here's hoping the people involved in the collision are ok.

Ditto for me this morning. I think the very tasty, but not very carby omelette I had last night may have something to do with it. Visit from the PF this morning only 2 miles in :( so too late for any decent action. (Thanks to the one chap out of about 7 cyclists who bothered to ask if I was ok fixing my tyre). Ground my way in and took about 10 minutes to regain sensation in my toes. Still at least the sun is out.

Saw CafeWanda on her new bike yesterday. Sorry I didn't say bye I was trying to say that I'd ride with you and not race ahead but a bout of filtering seperated us.

I've come to a conclusion that snow makes people crazy and angry until at least the next morning as giving room and not cutting up simply wasn't on the agenda for most motorists today.

Wind was weird this morning. I rode past a flag that was mostly stationary and completely devoid of what was blowing into my face and past my ears. I struggled to keep the bike above 18mph not happy.

    No Scalp action.
