Despite the tailwind I was actually slower than Monday.
Yep, felt fast but only 3 mins quicker than Monday for me. Hardly any bikes out there either and certainly no one to play with!
Last big commute in for me before the Ride 100 on Sunday, I really hope the weather is better than last year.

Finally one of the old gits pops up and talks sense. Can someone get a GoPro or get MTB-Idle to ride through the park.

I would love to get it done in under 5 hours. Thing is, unless you get in with a group it turns in to a 100 mile time trial and keeping up the speed over that distance is hard work on your own!Giant Defy Advanced 0 - Best

You send up with a bit of both. I can usually find a decent group to get me fast to Walton, where I have to drop off to say hi to my kids and thank them for coming out and making a banner. After that it's a combination of TT and TTT when you find someone to share the work.
I managed 4.47 last time. Would love to break 4.30 next time. You should manage sub 5 if you go for it.Mud - Genesis Vapour CCX

I'm riding it too but giving the levels of chopperdom I have heard about I'm just looking to get around safely and not worry about the time.
Look out for me; I will be in my financial institution cycle club team colours.

I've ridden it for the last 4 years and to be honest I've not seen a great deal of chopperdom. There are always some tools going way too fast down Leith but on the whole it's not that bad. Helps if you set off early I guess but, if you don't, there will be little islands of riders that you can latch on to before making a break for the next one.Giant Defy Advanced 0 - Best

I might not be riding this year, but my bike will be doing the 46.
Just had a call from a mate who, thanks to the Cannondale CAADX fork recall, is bikeless this weekend. Fortunately he rides a 54, same as me, and so I'm going to lend him one.
I've never actually ridden with him before but I know he goes out quite regularly so I expect him to take care. What surprised me is that hes about 6'2" and rides a 54 frame, apparently because he has short legs. I'm happy to be convinced otherwise, but I'm fairly sure that whoever sold him his bike told him the biggest load of bollocks about sizing in the world. If he bought it where I think he bought it (given it's the only bike shop in town and it's a Cannondale dealer) then that doesn't surprise me.Mud - Genesis Vapour CCX

I'm 6'2 and 57 is the smallest frame I can feel remotely comfortable on.
The reach seems to be the biggest issue, there is much more scope to adjust height with the seat post. So unless he has very short arms to go with his short legs then longer distances are going to feel quite uncomfortable. Much more than 25 miles on the 57 and my lower back would be very painful.Bianchi C2C - Ritte Bosberg - Cervelo R3

Yeah, when he told me he needed a bike I was wracking my brain to find out where I'd get him a 60 at short notice.
Tonight's fitting session will be interesting.
Stack and reach on both my Vapour and my ADX are higher / longer than his CAADX so I might open his eyes a little.Mud - Genesis Vapour CCX

if the CAADX is anything like the CAAD12 i'd say the 54 feels more like a 56, well mine doesRule #5 // Harden The Feck Up.

Tell me more about the fork recall - I have a CAADX (use it daily for the commute) and knew nothing about it.0 -

Nope, shorter geometry for CX.
Yeah, I have a 54 which is fine for leg length but reach feels a bit cramped despite me having swapped out the stem for a longer one. It is ok for the commute but if I could rewind the clock I would probably have gone with something different.0 -
oddly the CAAD12 whilst bigger standover and head tube height does feel a bit cramped which is confusing because i only have 4-5 inches of seatpost exposed whereas my R5 is nearer 8, similar with my Scott. I was contemplating a longer stem 120 perhaps, all other bikes are 110, i've also just dropped 5mm off the stack height.
Dont get me wrong i love the CAAD and if i didnt already have a the expensive n+2 fleet might not have bought the others, even with its 8kg+ weight it feels very fast and stiff even up hill, I doubt i'd still be able to say that on an all day endurance ride but 4 hour clubs rides have been fine.
Dont believe the hype people a good alu bike is easily the match of a super expensive top end carbon if you match it with good finishing kit.Rule #5 // Harden The Feck Up.
