Mark - I've done that when running a few times...

Dazza - this one has black (or very dark grey) alloys too, is N reg (I think) and really does look just like yours! I can take a phone pic if needed?!

This frost is a pain - we run or walk when it's frosty to avoid ice death.
  • then go cycling matt! keep the skills in tip top order trying to keep upright!!!

ordered some new bits today but am keeping quiet about them until they have all arived! 8)
    Happy days! :D

    Timmo - cool!

I'm happy to cycle when it's frosty but the consquences of a crash are pretty awful - run a business, need to look after the boy, etc - if I bust something, it's big trouble! Slipped a few times with near misses and really totalled myself in slippery conditions years back - have been cautious ever since!

    I just run when I can't cycle.
  • i know the feeling of knowing you need to look after the littlun!
its one of the main reasons i take things a little more conservatively inbissoe etc. i know regardless i have to be up to take littlun to nursery/ pre school so have to have an element of sensibility!!!

Dunmere was mostly dry tonight, with the odd muddy area.

10.5 miles around the woods with Greg.

Mark - saw your FB post - did you hurt yourself?

I got wet cycling this morning for the first time in over two weeks - I had just taken off my rear mudguard too - doh!

    Matt

Didn't particularly hurt. When I got home there was a few cuts & bruises around my knee.

Expected to be stiff this morning, but surprising fine.

Do you know why the wheel washed out?

It's the root of my DH nervousness in the wet - my fron wheel completely randomly washed out from under me in Bristol and led to a properly nasty crash - smashed my lid, ripped the arm off my jacket, shredded my shoulder and put a tendon revealing hole in my knee.

Because I have no idea why it happened, I can't "learn" from it so am always mindful that it could happen again. It's fine when it's dry but wet rooty Idless and similar do unnerve me. It seems whenever I try and forget about it and get some proper DH speed going in the wet, I crash again!

In that race I overtook everyone on the ascents then lost places on the DHs. It worked in my favour overall but the DH pace was annoying. Oh well - will have to rely in climbing and flat sprints I guess?!

    Greg

    here's further details:

The start is the free car park on the south side of North Bovey Mark. Not sure on the postcode, but North Bovey isn't big and as far as I remember the car park is signed from when you get in the village. The OS Map ref. for it if that's any help is SX740838, and you can see it on google maps here: http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?f=q&sourc ... 5&t=h&z=19

As for start time, hard to be sure. But we should get there 09.30ish and start not too long after that

  • Cheers for that mark, all being well I should be able to make it as long as I don't get lost driving there.

Went for a nice ride today in the South Hams near Plymouth. Had a slashed tyre on the way back so the last two miles were walking, not great but could have been worse. Went back via Certini to pick up replacement tyre and all fitted ready for the next ride, which hopefully will be tomorrow not sure where.

Got to make the most of the trail conditions which are ideal presently.

  • i was wondering if you guys were in today, rolling lovely and fast, especially in the bottom woods, the two down hill orientated tracks are spot on at the mo, fast and techy!!

i was in about half 10 i suppose, down to portreath about half 11 ish (bit of route clearing and sorting in the lower woods,) real nice gentle pootle this morning!

need to give my rear shifter a service though as its a bit sticky, might whip it off and soak it in degreaser for a day or so, then lube her up and should be Ansome!
