Now have carbon bars, saddle (partly carbon), bottle cage and soon to be brakes. And ti bolts on the frame. Oh dear - I may have to steal your username Timmo!0 -
haha! But Matt, you've managed to wear out half the componants on your bike in a year through Use! so that instantly denies you my Username! 8)
i do admit to looking through the catalogues down the shop for colour coding idea's!!! bolts, squewers, bar end caps, crank bolts etc!!!!!Timmo.

***waits until Mrs Matt isn't looking (she'll think I'm weird!)***
The chainset has just enough black on it to match the bike
Middle chainring now carbon and steel so should last better than old XT ones.

No that sir, is a cassette 8)
I can also vouch for the Elixir CR brakes too, I have them on my Stumpy and they're plenty powerful enough, and the modulation is spot on too.
Superstar sintered pads and also worth bearing in mind when the originals wear out, the standard pads chew up quite quickly.0 -
hey guys
been ages since i posted here,
finally been getting out on the kona again and managed to find the elusive path ive been looking for that takes me from where i live (nr asda in bodmin) into the back of Cardinham woods and what an epic
climbing hedges wall ditches scrabbling over streams all because the farmer took all the signs away, still took the OS map and compass this time and found a way in.
still i have a nearly road free route into the woods now all be it a trek over the farmers fields, got a few more options to try out to see if there is anything easier than a ploughed field! keep me busy for a couple more rides!
Ps nice gear :-)0 -
Sounds good hambles! the less road the better!!Timmo.

just need to find a bit more ride able path and less farm fields lol, wish they wouldn't cut up the bridle paths there are not that many round here in the first place.
have to set some ramblers on them! lol0 -
Hi hambles,
Me and a firend ride in cardinham quite alot, we cycle in from lostwithiel by going through respryn woods, lanydrock house and then along a 2 mile stretch of road. If you fancy a couple of riding partners just give me a shout.

I might be up for a trip around the woods too.
I haven't made it up to Cardinham as yet, so it would be good to have a couple or 3 expert guides0 -
Hey, just got back from a late afternoon/ evening ride around Hystyn and Bishops wood near Wadebridge which was awesome as I found more singletrack and DH runs. What is Cardinham like? I went there once and didn't find much in the way of singletrack etc. Nice cake shop mind. :P
I'm still up for the group ride up om Bodmin moor which if I remember is next sun. Where are you guys meeting?
Timmo, just noticed in this thread you have a Soul. I have the older 2009 version in boring black with 130mm travel and no replaceable dropout (better not rip my mech off lol)
Btw Those XT chainsets are superb not much difference between that and the SLX. XT is a touch lighter. Chainrings last ages just replaced mine with raceface ones. Its not what bike you have, its how you ride it that matters. Get out there!0 -
Greg, mines the older non replaceable version too! forks sag'd appropriately means they come up right for the frame! Muchly Awesome!!!!
wasnt sold on the colour to begin with but as soon as got it built up it grew on me, now i dont think i could have any other colour!
the Bodmin moor ride is Next sunday, this sunday is Truro - trispen FC start,
will be the directions for the rides ont he site too, if memory serves me correctly its Truro, Mnions, Bissoe/poldice/mars, Tehidy, then i Think St.Austell, Bissoe lanes, and then a Dartmoor loop,
some good rides in that lot!
is also a race at idless tomorrow, the Fully sussed series (www.fullysussed.co.uk), hope its dried up some as last time i was there was Super muddy loL!Timmo.

Whoops, thought your one was the current model. I love mine really good on singletrack, hence my never ending quest to find more  Have to say yours looks great love the colour had to get black as they had no more tea colour in stock. Mine is more cobled together using some choice parts but in the main a lot of what I had on my P7 was swapped across. Avid Juicy brakes was one of them lol. I call them FORD brakes. Fix Or Rebleed Daily  When they do work they are great.
Should be up Minions next sunday, down the road for me. Hope this good weather hold out.Its not what bike you have, its how you ride it that matters. Get out there!0 -
You guys need to get out more and stop bike geeking. Where were you all for the race at Idless yesterday? Hold your heads in shame. You missed a great course and really good weather.0

It had dried up. It was a tough long course. Good though. Steep ups and an interesting down.0 -
just had a nose through the results, good effort there matey! impressive! especially knowing how competetive the Vets get!!!
Rich Simpking and Mike from the club were in too, 12th/4 laps 3H05m and 10th/4 laps 2h35m respectively,
did they use the Whole woods then??Timmo.

Long string of swearwords coming up - I would have been very much up for that. AR5E. Any more local races? I'm struggling to find details of any. TBH my bike is a bit off colour (dead hub, brakes, etc) but should be fully sorted by the end of today - once done, I want to race it.
Any chance of shouting loudly if anything similar comes up Kyle? I knew this was happening but didn't know the date. A bit gutted to have missed it (as is the missus). I haven't seen any publicity/advertising anywhere!
Well done too!
Gary just took away my bike to be sorted - the Elixir CRs look amazing. Can't wait to have it back in action - saves me having to use the road bike!0 -
Tim- they used a lot of the woods. The course was even cut down a bit from the original planned one.
Matt- It wasn't that well advertised outside of the XC racer domain. 1st time an XC race has come to Cornwall since 'back in the day'. Details of the other races on http://www.fullysussed.co.uk/index.php? ... ace-Series
Probably can't do the next two, but hoping to get to the Abbeyford woods one, as thats only Okehampton0 -
Kyle - I googled and checked it all out. A shame to have missed that one but hope to do some/all of the rest. Fixed bike about to be brought here. It's only stuff but I'm excited - working brakes, non jumping gears and a sorted hub and BB will be rather handy. They were a lot worse than I had realised.0

was having a nose at the results last night, there's a Big old difference between elite/pro women to men on the times and Laps! quite suprisingly so!
think i found Rich from the club and Defo found Mike but couldnt see any Kyle esque poses, although there was one guy who had a Lot of chest showing through an unzipped jersey which thought could be!
would have been good to have got the club guys up to help marshall, spectate etc but as said, so little info about it coming up, but then again, Not the biggest area for parking etc if too many turn up!Timmo.

Here it is - also need a new rear hub - mine is utterly knackered but been packed enough so it's useable.
The brakes are superb! Also lost around half a pound in weight -handy!

you going to go for a hub or complete wheel matt?? dont know what the difference is of a hub and relacing the wheel etc, against a new unit??
Bike looks good btw!Timmo.

Timmo - Gary (thanks for the recommendation!) reckons machine built wheels just aren't built properly. My rim is fine so it's easier to get a new hub and get him to re-build it. Works out cheaper too. My old hub really is very rumbly!
So I'm looking at something with sealed bearing (preferably) - XT (not sealed), XTR and Hope 2 seem about the right "level." Anyone prefer any of these or anything else up to £150?0 -
Hope would be the one that jumps out, IF you dont mind a LOUD freehub though!!!
Gary's a Top bloke! honest and good at what he does! Glad your happy with the service!Timmo.

Hmm - XTR might be more suitable. I'm not very keen on loud hubs.
Looked at Chris Kings and my eyes nearly fell out!!! Rather pricey!0
