I got the full A&E treatment for chest pains once! Turned out to be (although not 100% conclusive) a lung infection but they also found a very minor heart murmur. Haven't keeled over yet so it might have been related to the infection - still a bit scary.

Me being me, I tried to run the pain off then tried to "press up" it away. I got told off by the docs for that!
  • AJ, possible flaw to tomrorrows plans, forgot the wife was supposed to be having the day off!! but will let you know this evening as will know for sue then!!!
looks like it may be a wet one! was slippy slidey enough sunday lol!

i love how the slightest hint of chest pain and we all get a little melodramatic about it in a typical Clarckson esque manor, 'I'm dieing'! :D although in all seriousness, its not something that should be taken in jest Just incase!!!

ordered a new rotor for the front of the bike this morning so they'll boith match and some new bolts (superstar rotors dont come with bolts or any packaging for that matter!) as mine kinda need the Maulgrip treatment to loosen/tighten lol!

    Campylobacter sucks

    That is all............
The trouble with having an open mind, of course, is that people will insist on coming along and trying to put things in it.

Anyone seen the "Fully Sussed" series starting in the SW? First one is in Idless on 11th April.

Check out www.fulllysussed.co.uk (I think thats right).
  • I think this might be the series that kyle linked to a while ago?? Think they were doing idless, cardinham possibly or one round in bodmin and a couple of others??

If today was anything to go by then idless will be a complete mess lol! Soooo much mud!

There will be a few guys from here / Trail Riders / Cornwall MTB / Freeriders / One & All etc doing the series.

As Timmo says, it was highlighted by Kyle ages ago.

If people are not racing, I know they are looking for a few Marshal's.

I really fancied riding it, but I won't be in the country.

Today I climbed Carn Marth 3 times and Carn Brea twice.

I think it's fair to say it was a hard ride.

  • Hi, went out to ride Dunmere near Bodmin today but I was told to leave by a bloke on a quad. He said that it was forbidden to ride there as he was sued by a rider. Is he talking rubbish? There are no signs to say no riding thought is was ok to on forestry commission land. Been going there for the last 5 years no problems with blokes on quads, dog walkers ect.

I won't sue the bloke, I don't know who he was. I want to go back and ride there shall I carry a disclaimer saying I won't sue etc? Has anyone else had this problem, if so what did you do?

On a different note can I come to the club ride on the 18th of april on Bodmin moor? Where do you meet?
    Thanks, Greg.
Its not what bike you have, its how you ride it that matters. Get out there!
  • Greg, iirc Dunmere IS private land, and the guy might have been the land owner,
isnt it sad that he got sued by someone who no doubtedly crashed through his own fault but Had the need to Blame someone else for his failings!! There is a Massive lack of common sence about now, YOU crash riding YOUR bike through YOUR own fault/inabilities but have to Sue the land owner as it cant popssibly be your fault!
people like that Ruin it for the rest of us!
    Rant over!!!!

anyways Yes matey no problem with joining the group at all, there will be details of how to get to the start point closer to the ride (after the sunday before's ride and will be in the ride directions section), normally a convoy leaving down this end meeting at Fraddon Maccy d's,

    Greg & Timmo

    Dunmere is Forestry Commission land.

The problem lies with the family that have the shooting rights on the land, who I believe may be assigned caretakers of the land.

2 things that I have heard has potentially ruined it for others.
    1. Someone had an accident & tried suing the family.
    2. Some people have been building trails and leaving rubbish.

I have not been able to establish if the family have the right to throw you off the land or not - or if they have the right to stop mtb'rs.

Shame they don't have the same feelings about MX bikes cutting up the trails - then again, that's on the family and his mates.

I've been asked to leave once and stopped once (once she realised we were sensible riders, she just said that we shouldn't really be there). I'm still happy to ride there.

If anyone does ride there and get asked to leave, get the details of the person asking and the reason why you are not allowed there. If we can gather a few of these, I am quite happy to contact the Forestry Commission to find out whether they have the right to do this.

  • Cheers Mark and Timmo. I have typed out a disclaimer saying I wont sue. I will carry it on me next time I go. It is very sad things have gone a bit mad these days. I think you will have to get public liability insurance to ride in the near future. I will go again as its a nice place to ride. I think I will give it a week or two to let it blow over lol. I totally forgot to take his name and address or who he was in relation to the forestry commission. My sister is a copper and said that its perfectly legal as long as the place isn't wrecked or plants trees ect are not removed. No sign on gate so I will claim ignorance lol

On a different note nice 17mile ride in herodsfoot woods today things are drying out nicely at last.

Will check out the details on the b'min moor ride closer to the date would be nice to see you guys.

Comedy ride this morning - approached a slow rider up a hill (Calenick) who turned off at the Newham track - the same way as me. I expected him to just pull over but he belted off - fastish but I always go faster. Then I noticed his kit was actually all fully branded up and his bike was pretty pricey looking. Anyway I hung 6ft behind him for over a mile (no room to overtake safely) and got to the road - again he belted off. So I went into sprint mode (he was still slower than my usual pace) and overtook.

Anyone know who it was? Not sure why he wouldn't let me pass!

And Dazza - a random question - I keep seeing a black Scoob that looks just like yours in Calenick. Is it yours?

It's SO nice having such dry conditions - I love it!

    What make of bike?

Sounds like he slowed down, 'cause you were too close. I mean there is no way you could keep up with someone all kitted up on an expensive bike . . . . . :)

  • matt, was a guy in idless when we went up all geared up on a trek i tyhink it was, stopped to show us a route and then Hoooned off at great look how fast i am speed, 'think' he may have something todo with CMC?? - knew of rach from our group.

been playing with the forks today, slowed the rebound down nicely with the thicker oil as was Horrid lol! but think i might swap it out for some more thicker still! and damn pedal stuck in cranks too! so off to pick up a spare axel tomorrow so can swap the main bits over and leave the axel there!

Mark - not sure but it had Bomber forks and was full sus.

The guy had pretty long hair, no helmet but SPDs, Endura trousers and all the clobber.

I think I can safely say I'm a fair bit fitter but he certainly went for it ...:lol:
  • No lid!! stupid! you'd have thought with bike and all the gear he'd have something as simple as a lid!!

That's what I thought! I think (from the bike and clothing) that he was a bit of a "cool" freerider type. Looked late 30s though so maybe a bit old for looking coooowelll.

No doubt I'll suddenly found out someone knows him and cause all sorts of bother!

What is it with blokes? I get cars with less than half the power tailgating me (where I can't move over) and trying to race/prove themselves. Same with bikes - people that clearly aren't that fit trying to give it the full beans so I can't pass.

A bit like me trying to be a basketball player or a model...! :lol:
  • its the whole man thing though matt!
like the times when you are supposed to be Cruising on a journey, nice and steady at 70, Loads of mpg, relaxing etc. Then all of a sudden you Get the Urge to floor it for No apparant reason at all!!
there's no rhyme or reason to it other than it being a Man thing!!!

it does seem that people in ickle engine cars think that by following closer and closer it'll scare you into pulling over to let them Roar past, where as the truth is most of us thing, T#sser, and carry on as we were with the odd wash of the windscreen for kicks!

i bet biker dude was thinking, 'Ill show this bloke how good i am' and then thought B#gger, that didnt work loL!
see, you should have just cruised past him tapping your fingers on your lid as you went! have to admit though, if i see someone else in the woods then i'll put a bit more effort in to make it appear i find it all easy! normally results in me firing off on a trail and when they dont follow stopping to recover hahahhaha!

its that Damn Man thing loL!

Nah won't be me, i know one keeps being spotted around there so must be local, you'll know mine as it has black wheels all the ones i've seen usually have gold.

Tim - everyone knows rach. ;)

Regarding cars, you'll get that all the time i don't bother now you'll get used to it.

Funny thing regarding bikes, had a young lad trying to be clever only i didn't know he was behind, anyway i gunned it up a hill only to then realise he was there looking very red for trying to keep up bless.

Oddly i now drive the car thursday and friday as i have noticed it's usually the emmets coming down that are the usual problem drivers.

Regarding biking, not done much of it lots of drunkards at work getting sick plus this noro virus has been doing the rounds me included, i've only now started to bounce back, sodding germ warfare.

I went for a run tonight. Coming back past the football ground nr Malpas when there's a kid running 5 metres in front of me. For some reason I had to pass him - at least he gave up trying to catch me up afterwards.

Anyway Matt, tailgating is just another word for drafting. :D
