  • had a quick howl around tehidy earlier, then down to the barn so big rich to order his new frame, bloody good laugh out in th3 woods, if a little cold!!! freezing fog down in the valley meant it was bitter ont he tramway, but worth it, rich sorting his bike gear out whilst i was let loose in the kitchen to make the tea!!
did have a nose at a latest cotic soul too as someone ordered one when rthey saw mine hung up in the workshop! very nice but a little boring in black!! nice new touches with the replaceable hanger and different cable guides though,

was a nice trundle back down the trail to portreeath and up through the woods, back into the sunshine!!

  • A quick howl! I felt like more like I was limping around that trail! It was good to get out and just a little chilly. I was a little disappointed that the mist took longer to clear that was suggested. Although the extra cloud cover didn't really help with the temperature! The recent freeze and thaw has really mushed up the top leaf mulch so it's a bit entertaining when you aim into a turn, only to discover that you slide across it rather than smoothly roll through it. Slippy, slidy, cold cornish XC fun.. :).

I must compliment tim on the tea making skills. Whilst I was talking spending vast amounts of money on 2010's project bike. Tim made what could only be described as the best tea in the entire known universe.

At LAST it was warm enough to ride without fear of ice/road death this morning!

Kyle - sorry for the slow reply. Once again I think it'll be tricky.

    1) I have done something weird to my foot (heel). It's fine cycling but may not be ideal for racing.
    2) I have cycled just ove 50 miles in almost three weeks. I would be as competitive as a pensioner in a wheelchair. Done a fair bit of running but it's not the same (as some may have noticed)
    3) I can't be ar5ed to go to Plymouth (a bit lame)
    4) I am old
    5) The surf looks like it will be good.
    6) I am old
    7) I am weak
  • love it matt!

changed a couple of our rides around so it lies a bit more with one up the county, one down, and now this sunday is St.A clay trails (meeting at the carclaze inn) and next week is now Bissoe instead of St.Columb, (st.columb is now the 7th feb due to the mud and sweat on the 31st)

hope you all have a good weekend!!

I didn't know there was any decent riding around st columb. I live in newqauy and always have to drive for at least 20 mins to get some half decent riding in.
  • ive not done the st columb ride yetr as missed it last year, but seemed to satisfy! if you keep an eye on the meet sheet thrugh the link in my sig then the details will get filled in in the next cuple of weeks, if you fancy it then coma along, is pretty much always a good laugh out with the group!

I am keen to know where this ride will go.

I can do about 15 miles from my house in St Columb road, with about 80% off road.

    Looking forward to a wet one tomorrow everyone ? ? ? ? ? ?

    Have a look here

Nothing confirmed yet, but should be sorted by the end of the month.

    In a way, I wish I had another £1k.

One of the hardest issues is that I also really like the idea of a 2010 Carbon Stumpy or an 09 Epic carbon as these are seriously light and agile.

I can get both at a very good price - but still more than I can realistically afford and I find it hard to justify £2k+ on a bike, so both options (in the back of my mind) are second best.

    Nice set of reasons.

I didn't compete in the end as my freehub was knackered and meant my gears kept skipping and then reasons 3, 4,6 and 7

Kyle - oh darn! A real shame.

    When's the next one?

I need time to formulate more excuses again.

Had a cracking ride this morning and a cracking surf just now. All on a school day. Naughty.

    See you at the weekend!

    Hello all.

Been away from here for a week or two. Moved house last weekend so been a bit hectic. Also gfs Dad talked me into doing the South Downs Way in June for British Heart Foundation. Started training yesterday and did a 40miler! My longest off road ride yet, feeling quite pleased with myself as I feel fine today. I started in St Austell went up Gover Valley, out to Nanpean, got lost on the clay trails ended up on the old A30, followed that to Roche, on th Bugle into Luxulyan Valley out to Par docks, followed the coast through Carlyon Bay, Charlestown to Pentewan and then came back along the Valley trail. Took me around 4 hours and I stopped to speak to a mate for about 15-20 mins. I think I will need to be doing this sort of distance most weekends in preparation.
If anyone has any training tips or advice on what ammount of riding I need to be doing for the SDW I would be grateful.
  • thats an awsoem route! good distance too!

had a great ride around bissoe/poldice this morning, bit nippy and ice breaking in the puddles but good fun! watched the fownhillers/freeriders for a bit too, Mental! and especially as a fair few were sporting grey hair!! one guy turned up with his two lads both on downhill/mini downhill bike! So cool!
only down side was my ice block feet!!! think my seal skins are not proper lol! cruised home on the trail into portreath and up through the woods, clocked in at just over 20 miles which is plenty enough for me!!! 8)

An utterly minging ride (2 degrees, raning) this morning suddenly turned into a belter as the sun came out! Cold and horribly muddy but still nice.

We're moving back to the Rock area in a couple of months - too far from the sea here! Can't wait! Dunmere will be a best local riding area so not as useful as here but the surf will e MUCH closer!

Yeah good ride yesterday Timmo, good crowd too. Always like a blast around Poldice for getting the mojo boosted! :D

Had a good ride with the Trailriders last week and Cornwall MTB yesterday - it's a shame one is CTC affiliated and one is British Cycling, as I might have to stump up membership for both to go riding with both groups!! :?
