Going out for a ride tomorrow morning early if anyones interested. Thinking about Cardinham or Dunmere maybe?
How dangerous is ice likely to make the terrain?
Would like to have made the Burrator ride but busy Sunday.0 -
Hi there,
I live in Plymouth but would travel down to your area for a ride sometime if you woud let me. How far are you from Plymouth. I really want to get out again ver the weekends. How often do you go out?
Thanks Matt 8)Only the strong survive.... Keep low move fast0 -
Im in St Austell, about 1 hour from Plymouth. Would be happy to go out sometime. My problem is too many hobbies/responsibilities, 2 yr. old daughter, gf and surfing! So my riding is as and when. Im getting a light hopefully next week so will be doing more week night rides and would be glad of some company as Im terrified of the dark
Anyone up for a week night ride around St. Austell or close-ish as soon as my light arrives?0 -

I am away from 23rd- 29th. I am happy to do a few night rides when I'm back.-
There is a very wet, fairly flat 15-20 mile loop near where I live.
I can show you a loop taking in the north coast.
Was at Dunmere last week night riding - interesting!
 Did a 40 miler yesterday, from Redruth, taking in Silverwell, Cider farm, Idless and Bissoe. We had originally planned to finish over Carn Marth, but would probably still be there if we had tried.
So if anyone wants a nice leisurely 4.5 hour ride in freezing conditions, riding over ice encrusted puddles, skating over the ruts in Idless and only 3 stream crossings, let me know. . . . . & I'll tell you where we went!Stumpjumper FSR 09/10 Pro Carbon, Genesis Vapour CX20 ('17)Carbon, Rose Xeon CW3000 '14, Raleigh R50

I've been out on a few rides recently. Mostly around the Liskeard area.
Spent about 2.5 hours riding a wood near Trago Mills called Largin Wood this is mostly forest trails with about 4 short DH routes with drops. Not a big place but it kept me entertained for a bit.
Then did another ride in a wood near Hessenford on the Seaton road. This again is a shortish ride. Found a couple of DH runs complete with off camber jumps and a lung busting uphill section. Got a bit lost as there are tracks and trails everywhere and some lead to dead ends, which I found annoying.
Cann wood in Plympton was a blast, loads of jumps if you are into that. Nice flowing single track. Berms and tight DH turns not too technical flows well. Highly recomended for a days riding. Only bad thing is loads of dog walkers on the main paths so I kept off those as one gave me an evil stare. Most seemed friendly though.
Herodsfoot near Duloe taking in Deerpark Forest ect. Good 3.5 hour ride. some good single track and fire road riding. Did one scary slippy DH bit with huge ruts and logs everywhere did well just to stay on! I could of done with more time here, as I think it goes all the way to Looe woods following the river.
Did a ride Cardinhan (sp) Wood near Bodmin yesterday and found it mostly flat. Did find a short bit of singletrack. The decided to do a ride over at Dunmere which is so much better IMHO. Didn't get kicked out by the land owner, but during a trail my rear mech got smashed up on a rock and took the hanger with it.
I'm happy to show anyone around any of the trails. Need to fix my mech and do a bit more. Sorry for the long post :oops:Its not what bike you have, its how you ride it that matters. Get out there!0 -

My little girls got a puffy eye at the mo too. Snotty eyes bunged up nose and coughing till she can cough no more!
Went out on cliffs and around Luxylan Valley this mornin. Ground was so hard I didnt leave a trace Id even been there, apart from the odd slice through a frozen puddle. Cold but fun, looking forward to getting some decent socks for Crimbley!0 -
got the puffy eye's but not the cold! came up as a reaction to something sprayed on the christmas tree at nursery to help preserve it! but this week opposite eye came up when she hadnt been near a real tree, so not sure whats it is!
did think with the hard frosts will make it good going out on the bike, just a shame i feel so bad lol!Timmo.

Thanks Tim.
Although "I" think Im reasonably fit I havent really tested myself against anyone that is fit, so dont want to hold anyone back when they are paying to enter a comp.0 -
AJ
I have a partner for the event.
If you fancy having a go & get no joy from Cornwall Mtb club, you can also try the trail riders.
The event has a fun format, so you can be as competitive as you want.
I am away now until 29th, but happy to sort out a (night) ride or 3 afterwardsStumpjumper FSR 09/10 Pro Carbon, Genesis Vapour CX20 ('17)Carbon, Rose Xeon CW3000 '14, Raleigh R50

OK Thanks.
I too am away now for Xmas so Merry Xmas everyone.0 -
Note to all biking on ice is not fun, nor is falling off comical as it is.
Was bloody quick today mind, must have been the several days of no exercise. The trouble with having an open mind, of course, is that people will insist on coming along and trying to put things in it.

Wahooooooooo! Timmo's got soul!!!
Christmas was very kind to me this year and a quick trip down the shop resulted in me bringing home the frame!
Love it!!
4 hours almost to the minute later and a trip out to bike chain for some gear outer as the frame uses a semi full housing (seatpost backwards) she's all built and looks the Nuts! feels so right! hoping to get out for a blast tomorow or tuesday, cant wait lol!
has built up just a little heavier than the old carbon frame was, but gotta say, i think it looks a while load better!!!
will lwt yoyu know how the first ride goes!!!Timmo.

Ooh very nice tim, might be a bit heavier but i bet it'll be a lot more fun, and chuckable. The trouble with having an open mind, of course, is that people will insist on coming along and trying to put things in it.
Giant Anthem X0 -
according to the frame stats 1/2lb heavier! but yeah, so much better than Bob! almost unmeasurably so and i'd say, a nicer ride than the carbon too!
So much fun! usual loop of tehidy as a test ride, Very slippy!! minor moment on the second of the St sections in the lower woods though, Bit too much speed and tyres full of mud made foe an intersting twitchy moment, but all good!!
top of the woods, before the techy section dropping down over the paths,
and home awaiting a lil clean!
absolutely Love it, felt So good!! But, am gpoing to put the mud guard on the down tube again, thought i'd be okay with out it but face full of mud straight away convinced me otherwise!! got some more tape to protect the frame under wherre it'll be now so dont mind fitting it!!Timmo.

Yeah i'll be losing my neoguard at some point, flaming tyres rub on it, very annoying i think i'll grab me one of those fender bender things, it'll keep my stanchions nice and clean too.
Now all you need to do is avoid those trees. The trouble with having an open mind, of course, is that people will insist on coming along and trying to put things in it.
Giant Anthem X0 -
hahahah! yeah had a near moment with a tree, duriong a wobbly sketcy section, kept me on my toes thats for sure!!!
saw those fender bender things and though nice idea (like the neo guard) but a few quid for a small bit of plastic! could prolly make one quite nicely out of a tupperware box!!Timmo.

Yeah true it's only a few quid anyway and the tyre rubbing is getting on my wick.
So i think we can all safley say timmo's got soul.
Guess you'll never listen to this song the same way again.

Just curious now does it compare to the carbon tart, i assume it's not as 'tight' but yet it's more fun and flickable and yet doesn't break you're back?
Only way i can describe the anthem, it pushes you to go faster and then some, it's an electric bike when hooning it.
Question now is i assume you love the thing?
It will feel springy of course but that's steel for you.The trouble with having an open mind, of course, is that people will insist on coming along and trying to put things in it.
Giant Anthem X0 -
I'll let you know aftrer sunday dazz but first impressions are that it feels better than the carbon one did, a little more forgiving but still very chuckable, a little twitchy on the edge of grip but thats what I wanted! Direct and chuckable, and a whole lot of fun!!
Is funny though, people say of springyness but until I rode a steel frame again I had no idea what they were on about lol! But after a quick ride it all makes sense haha!
Have aspent the whole week wanting to ride it more! Just as littluns of not been able to! That and I'd kill myself physically lol! But have a feeling it'll be a good new year riding!!Timmo.
