a lot of places try and actively Discourage the use of Mtb's, horses etc in the woods due to the whooe Sueing coulture that has developed, sue the land owners for your own inabilities!
as you said mark, about Always being curteous to all, its important i think that this sort of attitude is carried on as there are So many that dont care and gives those of us that are as you say a bad name, especially when using what can be classes as 'cheeky' trails!
Tehidy is good for about an hours worth of playing, some Great trails Hidden away from the normal paths, some 'cheeky' but one of the best bits of St in the area was a p[urpose buiilt section for the old XC races they used to hold in the woods, is a little worn inplaces now, but still good!!
they are my local woods, so would be more thanhappy to chow you around the good tracks, providing i can find someone to look after the littlun for a couple of hours if the wife's not home! otherwise, could have to bring her with us int he back pack!Timmo.

Done some more reaserch and I think Dunmere and a wood near Plymouth called Cann are on the cards. Look like great places for a ride. The wood near Looe could be Herodsfoot (sp)? It seems to follow the river down according to the OS map.
Been looking through the this (long) thread, and may have to travel to Idless and Tehidy wood as it seems they get a mention by a few members are they worth the extra distance further west?
May have to increase my holiday
Cheers Greg.

Hi - didn't get much chance to say hello when we passed you on the trail this morning.
You'd have enjoyed the 30 mile route we did. Only climbed Carn Marth twice and included 2 more killer climbs.

Been out and properly tested my new machine!! Went for a ride from Princetown early this morning. Bloody cold up there today, looking forward to getting a decent base layer and some winter gloves for Crimbo. Well chuffed with the new bike, it did feel like cheating after riding a GT Avalanche 2.0 HT for 3 years.0

Nice one Tim - can't wait to see it!
Surf was lovely on Friday and Saturday. Did you enjoy Portreath? I really like that little cafe!0 -
Yeah that lil cafe's okay but a bit greasy spoon ish and the coffee's not that nice But! when the other one's closed you have little option! that said, it does make Ansome Bacon butties!!
have you seen this months MBR matt?? article on southern ireland on a bike! dont know if its anywhere close to where you were?? thought i'd mention it though!

The bigger on by the car park is better (but not the "hatch" takeaway bit - that's dire!) TBH.
Will look out for that MBR - I'd love to take the bike over there.
Cool about the bike - I'm terrible when waiting for stuff like that!0 -
yeah the Bigger one on the edge of the carpark is our fav spot, Lovely coffee, spend most the summer down there lol! but closes from the day after fireworks display till easter! so a bit stuck then! have used the greasy spoon a few times but the smell puts me off!! that and am pretty sure the coiffee (cappuchino sp??) is the cheap stuff you can buy in tesco! but when its cold but crisp and the surfs good there is little other option for a cuppa unless you fancy a polystyrene cup from the bakers!!
i know what you mean abouyt the bike matt! i would have spent the shopping money on it to have it then lol but oddly the wife was not so keen!! has been horrid waiting for it but does mean that have been giving the old bouncer a good throwing around up the woods, still, new year New bike!! and lots of enjoyment! - i'll still be awfully shocking up hills mind hahahah!Timmo.

If were reviewing cafes etc. I will not be going in the Plume of Feathers again. Every table is booked out every Sunday for RAF people or similar, which is fine but I dont apprieciate, after buying chips and a pint, sitting at the bar being told we would have to give up our bar stools as in 20 mins the pub would be full. For f**ks sake we both only had 1/4 pint left could the landlord not wait 5 mins!
In fact I may ring up and complain now......
Wish Id refused to get off my stool.0 -
That's a bit off - maybe you should have left a stool on your stool...0
-
Good idea.
Im not normally one to complain but he really rubbed us up the wrong way.0 -
I dunno, these RAF types do take the pee a bit. :-)
AJ, I might be going to dunmere tomorrow night. Will confirm as soon as I can.Stumpjumper FSR 09/10 Pro Carbon, Genesis Vapour CX20 ('17)Carbon, Rose Xeon CW3000 '14, Raleigh R50

had a good crack around tehidy yesterday with dazzle from the barn, and Alfie the mental dalmation! chasing you down the st! is great!! was muddy but not half as bad as expected!Timmo.

I'm finding the mud a bit random at the moment - big sections are nice and dry, other bits are stupidly wet!
Off for a run in a second or two - hoping the mountain running will make it feel easier.
Just done some Xmas shopping - got near to killing someone then found a few bits and calmed down. What a nightmare.I will stick to the internet for the rest of the bits!0 -
Plume of Feathers in Princetown. Had a look at other reviews, theyre all rubbish. I did phone up to complain(first time ever) and had to phone 4 times to get the landlord to phone back. His appology was pathetic and insincere. It wasnt the landlord that was rude on Sunday by the way. The only way I got him to phone back was by giving the barmaid 20 mins or I said I would write as many bad reviews as possible, but I dont really need to bother as I said before all reviews are terrible. I think there is another pub there son needless to say Ill be using that one from now on. Rant over before I give myself a hernia or something!
My Brother is living in my Aunty and Uncs house in Portreath for 3 months. Ill bring my bike down next time Im down that way Timmo if youre on for showing me some routes??0 -
Is anyone entering the soggybottom race on 10.1.10?? I am thinking of entering just for a bit of fun. Would probably go in the "sport" category.
Anyone entered before? Tales/experiences welcome.0 -

Done it twice. Both times really good courses, good mixture of climbs, singletrack, wider bits, technical bits and fast bits. Both times a killer climb to start, though that varies from what I hear
I did the Fun category in March this year.
Did the Veterans in November, as I am well old. Planning on doing the same in Jan and Feb.
Advantages to the Fun -
Its easier to get a good result. (Less training)
Fewer Elite people passing you.
Probably a bit more friendly
Fewer people in lycra bib shorts
Nobody was on a turbo trainer before the race.
Advantages to the afternoon categories Sport, Masters etc
The standard is higher, so more competitive (if thats what you want)
Its in the afternoon, so you don't have to get up as early0 -
aj, for sure fella! can do a good loop of tehidy, then cruise out to the barn and could use a couple of bridleways up that end too, plenty to keep you entertained!
kyle, your not old! or atleast, you certainly dont look it!Timmo.
