28.5 excellent, chilly miles on ice covered tracks this morning.

Over 3500ft of climbing & some amazingly fast, slippy descents.

  • nice and easy one this weekend,
Coast to Coast trail, starting at the bike barn, thought we'd have a social ride with a cuppa and a pasty! (cuppa at ricci cafe)
if anyone here fancies it and wantrs a pasty for post ride can you let me know so i can pass it on to Roj by friday evening,
will try and sort out some tea and coffee for post ride too! 8)

hoping to get out for a gentle one tomorow depending on the weather! dont mind any snow (if we get any here! barely enough to cover the driveway this morning!)dont mind the wind, or the rain but combine the Wind and rain then i'll take a pass lol!

  • Snuck out for a quick ride this avo, couldnt beat the temptation and as snows such a rarity thought i'd treat the bike to a cold ride!!
was a lot of fun, if a lil sketchy on the roots!! but a quick pic from the top of the xc track.

  • Sat is looking great, right up till the night that is. Then heavy snow forcast and -2oC temp. Sun is forcast for Light snow. Although, if it snows, there is no way in heck that I'm driving from Porthleven to porthreath. Won't be the sunday without my sunday mornin cornwall MTB club ride. Therefore I may look into riding somewhere and then doing a bit of off road snow riding anyway.

I'm looking forward to next week when I have to restart uni, something tells me that I'm not going to be getting there! :D

    Where do you live?

I am debating whether it's worth driving from St Columb to Redruth for the Trail Riders ride at the mo.

  • rich is porthleven way Mark,
will kewep an eye on it today and see whats due in, will post up on the cornwall network page and home page if its cancelled, which i think it prolly will just to be on the safe side!!

am without phone at the mo as it fell into a half cuppa tea last night and is drying out in the airing cupboard at the mo!!! (night in a bowl of rice and has been stripped down and cleaned out, hoping the final clen will fix it!!)

i thik the idea may be that a few rides will pop up locally for anyone in the area, maybe an idless one, a bodmin one a tehidy etc. will see!!

Mark, did you get any further with the dcannondale rush you tried a while back?? remember you were after a larger frame but in last years model or similar???

  • I think that is a fine idea timmo, gives people a chance to get out if they think they can ride to a ride, if you know what I mean. I think the general concensus is looking like people will not be coming from far away even if the weather stays like it is currently, it's still fairly hazerdous out there on the roads. Weather looks fine for today, but by the look of the forcast, about the time the ride starts - it's going to start snowing. It would be a blast riding in the snow, but then it's the problem of being able to get the car home again!

I'm still up for something, even if it does snow - as long as I can ride there and back home, I'm happy :). If not then I suppose I'll have to call this weekend off

No cycling but had a good (but FREEZING) surf yesterday. A snapper got some shots. Two best ones are probably:

  • I feel so bad because I haven't even ventured out of the house, yet alone onto the bike today. Really need to start getting out more, because my fitness will suffer. Only issue is riding to work is great, but coming home in the dark is not so fun. I really still don't enjoy solo night riding. Won't be till like march / april that the sun will be out long enough to ride home in the light. Come summer I'll be riding to work every day and sessioning poldice/bissoe on the way back :)

Snazzle clay trails next week timmo, fairly consistant flatish ride for most of it. Starts with a bit of a climb tho!

The lack of being able to do much exercise outdoors just after "fat Christmas" is doing me in too. Resorted to skipping and doing lots of punchbag work (and weights) in desperation!

Just went for a run in spikey shoes - fun but definitely still risky.
  • I don't run, in public, not after ....

Biking really is my only form of excercise and stress relief. I don't find time to get into anything else at the mo, what with working two jobs, doing a degree and learning jazz piano. I struggle to find the time to slot any more in.

Still I love to get out more than once a week when I can. I'm trying to get my father back out, he got me back into biking after many lazy years. Now I feel obliged to return the favour. It won't be hardcore riding with him as he's not that bothered about doing hardcore stuff. Just a few miles keeping average speed up. Will have to start quietly and ramp it up, hopefully sooner rather than later. Usefully there are ways for me to get in my hardcore musings whilst still being able to ride the same routes locally with him. I'm hopefully going out next thurs to go look at my new project build frame. :P
