Headtorch just arrived - 150 lumens - not bad! Might be handy for riding - brighter than a Tesco AA Cree torch.
  • todays Valuable lesson learned out in a very fast but remarkably slippery Tehidy,

Crashing on a full susser hurts just as much as crashing the hardtail!! haha!

pushing it a 'little' too hard on the first of the downhill tracks in tehidy, cleared the top two sections fine, dropped into the third section, faster than normal!! as always! really enjoying it, little biut of air of the first small step down, bit more of the second, bit more off line too! results in attempts to correct sliding sideways brakes doing nothing and shoulder barging a quite substantial tree!!!

i can tell you it hurts hahahah! i decided for the moment after that the best ethod for me would be to lay on the floor where i landed and just laugh at my stupidity! and allow the pain to dwindle a smidge! picked myself up and back on the bike to carry on and do the second of the downhill tracks, Very slippery now with most the leaves on the tracks, took it easy until i popped out and bl;asted down for the final bit of ST, all going well untill a very skittish slippy slidey wobbly wibbly twitchy moment when i decided best to chill out for the last bit!!

it is very true that full sussers give you a false sence of improvement of actual ability! and the first crash after said boosted feeling Hurts hahahahah!:lol::wink:

lesson learned and chiseled into noggin for bissoe on sunday!!!!

It's great having lots of light on the bars, but sometimes you need to look where you need to go.

That was before i got the troutelight, with the p7 you still do need a helmet light however mine for output is the same as three magicshine lights on the bars.

Matt - go on give in!!!!! ;)

It is a lot of light though think of it as one of those garden halogen floodlights you can get, you won't be far off good throw as well.

Tim that's where most folk go wrong, you still have to ride it like a hardtail to get the most of it, it just lets you get away with more. ;)

Don't go breaking this one for christ sake.
The trouble with having an open mind, of course, is that people will insist on coming along and trying to put things in it.

Dazza - seen the photos. Astonishing amount of light for not mucn cash.

    Hmmmm...

Another great surf, the Mrs Matt had one, then Pizza Express with baby carnage (spag bol sauce on face and all over hair!) boy! Very nice.
  • reminds me of when we used to go to pizza hut with the littlun when the wife was working late, had profiterolls, jorja had one, poked her finger in it, got the cream out and then comically fl;ung it over her shoulder of her finger! went a Very impressive distance!!! very funny! and thankfully quiet at the time too hahaha!!

lot of peeps in at portreath today, looked a nice clean wave,

starting to ache some now hahahha!

Blimey - just tried the headtorch (Petzl Myo XP) - incredibly bright! No more running into trees or off cliffs! Much more useful light spread (can do narrow long beam or diffused light) too.

Well let us know if you do want the light matt, it's actually better in the flesh, there's also a p7 light in there just for comparisons sake.

I assume you still live in calenick, i can nip round one evening when on a ride, i usually head that way for idless anyway.

Dazza - I'm Malpas Village (but I do ride through Calenick almost every day before work) - near the pub.

Last time I tried a light (Mark's Hope 1) I immediately bought one!

Soggy Bottom 1 - who's doing it? Anyone know the lap distances?
Considering me doing Sport, Mrs Matt doing Fun (she's a bit nippy on an MTB). I have a figure of 3.5 miles per lap in my mind - is that right?

It says women do one less lap so presume she'd just do 7 miles? I think I'd be looking at 14ish then?

I'm planning on doing it. Have to get my bike fixed, so my rear suspension doesn't fall off 1st.

Your numbers are about right. I'm teetering between being a young Veteran or a wrinkly Sport person. The younger competitors in Sport could be my son or daughter. The advantage of Veterans is you are allowed to attached an off road zimmer frame on your bike

You know the Fun starts at 10 and the Sport at 1?

Kyle - yep. There is a timing element. If we can get the inlaws to look after little one, we can go at the same time. If not then the difference in start time is ideal.

Surf still amazing - just had ANOTHER great surf!!!

Timmo - what's the damage? Knee bash?
  • no, knees fine! inside of left knee coming out ion a Big Bruise from hitting something, right thigh scratched to b#ggery through shorts on collision with tree, right shoulder painful over shoulder height from same tree and light pain in chest same side, and saw arm too hahah!

did manage to clear some of the moss of the tree though as that was stuck to the shortrs hahah!

Ouch. When I bashed my inside right knee, it took physio to sort it out - the bash was so painful, I got it looked at and it turned out I had a wonky leg! Doh!

Scratches are cool though. The mark of a good ride.
  • haha! yeah normally a good mix of mud and blood makes for a good ride lol!

one things for sure though, will rememberhow much it hurts when i tackle that section again hahahah!

    Matt

I seen to remember the women's race is in the afternoon with sport & vet etc & is 3 laps, same as the fun class.

For anyone interested, Freeriders do a night ride every Thurs eve from 6.30pm. It is a decent pace, so be prepared to do some work.

resultant Bruise from my off on thursday!
Can see the out line of it, has come out a lot better today but havent snapped it yet!!! come up a nice deeper bruise colour, and looks as painful as it is hahaha! almost as if someones punched my leg lol! think it must have been the saddle as i got flung of it, (the immediate stop and spin form hitting the tree with my right side was enough to fly my glasses of my head!! )

Nice one Timmo - fifth surf this week and my arms and shoulders are totalled!!!
Good waves at Fistral today - but that's it for a little while (wind going onshore tomorrow).

    Sweet Ms Mini Timmo pics!

And the arm bruise pic looked like a butt when I first saw it!!

It seems to have forgotten to get light today - miserable weather.
  • i thought of you when i was watching them matt!!
defo more a boogers day though, think there was one stand up who could actually do it and a couple of learners there and a good dozen+ boogers, aqll tghe locals over at the harbour wall end waiting for the Bigger sets to roll in, (although the middle of the beach would have suited me loL!) was acyually nice to see some dogs on tyhe beach too! responsible ones that is! with owners that know their dogs as faithful companions rather than fashion accessories!

Junior Phyall is Definately not camera shy! hahah! she does get Very funny when she comes out with the Look at me Eye's and cheeky smile!!! gets away with murder lol! but as am sure you feel, worth every second of tghe time you spend together!! especially wehen playing in the woods on the way down ahhaha! suprised me that she had the energy to run around the cafe and the beach after the walk down which is just over 2 miles! (2 1/4 i think it is)

    anyways, leg bruise freshly taken!
    utf-8BSU1HMDAwMzQtMjAwOTEwMzAtMTcxO.jpg

unfotunately as said, none of the others have come up for Such good ones! shame as had the potential for some Beut's ahhah!

It was surprisingly nice down Bissoe today.

Yep, a bit of wind - but there were a lot of riders about:- Cornwall MTB club had about 8 (??), Trailriders had 5, One & All did their first mtb ride today (no idea how many people) and Freeriders were racing down there (15+).

Hope your knee sorts itself out soon Timmo.

Dazzza, are you just riding alone at the mo, or are you out with a group?

next week is hustyns woods, si and brendans, should be a good one! will try and make it!

heard the free riders would be out today, and from wghat i saw they would be using the runs fromt he top down to mars area, which is a shame as there the good ones loL!
