Timmo - How hard is the cardinham ride likely to be on Sunday mate? I've been out for a couple of months now with an old whiplash injury but hoping to get back on the bike this weekend.

Hope all is well with everyone.

Stonking ride around the South Hams (nr Plymouth) with Mrs Matt in Saturday -deep mud (thick red Devon stuff), rocky stream beds, fields and all sorts - didn't do much mileage (15 miles, but took two hours!) but lots of walking (deep mud, boulders, etc), skidding around, etc.

First real mud test of the Sauserwinds - they really are very good in mud, on the road, everywhere.

Timmo - the bike shop in Helston swapped my dead headset the same day. In fact it took them 20 mins - Cycle Logic.
  • sounds a good ride matt! nice and challenging!
sorted the headset out now and test ridden! all is good again!! a bit of confusion from me tyhough as turns out he bike has a Semi integrated headset, but when i got the frame it had the Cups in it and i assumed you had to get a headset to fit them! - lack of knowledge see!! common occurance in the life of Timmo! hahaha! so i popped in looking for a bearing to fit after i knocked it out the frame and the guys said thats actually part of the headset! Result for me! so new fsa orbit z purchased and installed and silky smooth!

had a great blast out around tehidy this avo, not as wet as i thought it would have been form the weekends dampness, but instead nice and grippy! lots of fun! could have done with knocking a few psi out the forks though as was playing on the weekend with them! so was a bit hard ont he arms hahah!

but bikje all washed down, me all washed down and gear in the machine ready to be done when the elecy trips into Cheap mode haha!

I'm hoping to be there Sunday! Am also hoping my bruised thigh will be better too!...went for a solo evening ride on Monday up over Carn Brea and ended up doing my best gymnast impression by somersaulting over the bars heading down the Tregajorran side. Was partly my fault (didn't pull up on the bars enough on a drop off) but mainly the fact that my brake pads failed yet again, so was forced to use the front brake more than necessary - nose dive and front brake = FAIL!...I'm now a firm believer that SSC pads are indeed, sh1te!

  • oooh no! that doesnt sound so good!!!
got a good few rides coming up on the sheet at the mo, looking good through into december, a good mix of all types too!

i'm running some 'Carbon Lorraine' pads at the mo, cant remember the brand of them but they were ina blue pack!! Very good! great power and longevity!
know that the matereal is being used in track pads for Cars and is Very good at that so figured cant be too bad! got them at a silly price too!
if i really pulled my finger out i'd sort my self out with some new disc's to replace my lightly warped ones! but other bits catch my eye instead! hahahah!

  • Had a Cracking ride in St.A today, some real good track up and about, many havent changed that much in the years since i used them but Soi much better on a decent bike!!!
a lot of fun and some Great ST!!
however, all was not quite so Rosey! took one jump too many and have Broken the Carbon bike!! gutted! especially as its one of the alloy drop outs not the frame itself!!
have stripped it down and started building up the old full susser ready but ran out of patience and willingness to carry on! but hoping to get it sorted for next week!

have the pics up on FB but will get them of the phone and then get them up on here!!

have a plan to try and trace the places that make the frames on ebay that are the same (china and taiwan) and see if they are willing to send the droupouts for the frame, think it may be a lot of hard work and may be cost prohibitive but gotta be worth a shot! Love that bike!:cry::cry:

sorry about the bike Timmo - it looks really bad.

Do you know exactly how it happened?

Don't suppose this is a good time to mention that I know where an FSR XC is available?

    Oh bu66er x 1000000 that looks terminal.

Mark - getting the Rush then?

How's the kit car going? Sounds like a lot of work. And how is work going? Sounding very positive.

Oh no, that's really unfortunate Timmo, hope you get something sorted soon!

Unfortunately due to not being able to sleep until 5am Sunday morning for some reason, I wasn't in the mood to get up early and drive up to Snozzle for the ride so didn't make it. Shame though as I was looking forward to it and sounds like it was a good ride!

Work is great - lovin the diversity of companies / projects we're working on & the fact that we really are making a difference.

As we are just about to register for cycle to work, I'm looking for an upgrade. I'll only get the Rush if I can get the 09 model as the new one is over £2k. I've also been looking at the Focus First, an orange frame & an Epic. I'm open to other suggestions as long as they offer a decent upgrade over the FSR. Focus looks ideal - carbon frame, good groupset & light weight.

Kit is getting tested on Wednesday. I fookin hope it passes!

just wondering if i can sell the contents of the shed to replace the carbon ht! (just over £200 from china at the mo!!) hmmmn, somehow, i doubt it lol! shed may be full but sadly, its mostly full of Cr4p! hahahah!

Nice one Mark - pics will be needed!

Recently got some Superstar kevlar pads (not used yet) but not sure if the sintereds might last longer?

Bought a kick ass pressure washer today - mostly because my car wheels are a bu66er to clean/keep clean (about a million spokes) but also for when the bike are foul - and no I will NOT blast the BB, headset, pedal bodies or hubs! Wheels now take 5 mins instead of almost half an hour - woo hoo!

Timmo - glad you've managed to "bounce back"

Coat on and I have left the building...
  • haha! nice matt!

pressure washers rock!! might want to look out for some Wheel sealant! it'll make it a LOT easier witht he washer!!
multi spoke wheels look the nuts but are Such a swine to clean!!!

    Matt
The sintered ones do last a lot longer and offer good performance. That is what I use (& I'm heavy on brakes)

These on offer are great on a budget.

I will have some pics of the kit when I've tidied it up a bit. I haven't done the bodywork yet - but that doen't stop me driving it!

dont blame you mark, if i'd spent a while building a car i'd want to be out driving it toooo!

  • ladies (if there are any viewing) and Gentlmen, may i introduce you to Bob!
Bob has been so named as he does like to Bob quite a lot!!
    bob.jpg

certainly some different to the old carbon HT! hit a bump in the path and it no longer feels like some one has Punched you in the Bum!!!
think i may keep an eye out for an air can with some fancy bits to reduce the bob somewhat but otherwise is a good ride! better than i remembered! but that may be as hard to believe as it is, the ridings improved somewhat since i last rode it 2 years ago!!

so all shook down an donly isue was a loose seat clamp, otherwise all good!!!
    roll on sunday!
