  • had a nice blast aorund tehidy again today, was a bit squishy in places but all the main ST sections were good and fast!
had a minor off on a section where the old trails worn away on a tight bit and the new section's a lil soft especially on the edges! hahah! cue front wheel washing out down the bank, me managing to eject from the bike but got leg tangled in brambles and gorse bush's! did nearly get noggined by my water bottle though hahahah!
some of the freerider guys have been in on the other trails in the top of the woods now and some of it has become a smidge comical! the small log roills are now Bar height and quite steep! and some of the others have followed a similar route and a couple turned into small gap jumps!
the other faster DH route have had some steep kickers put in and arnt too easily avoidable! shame as was a great run in of a big ol' berm! C'est la vive!

was a good blast down into portreath to meet the good lady for a cuppa and an ice cream though, made sure i didnt hit any boulders this time though hahahah!

one thing i did find though, despite normal speed around the place, everything felt So draggy! felt like real hard work! no idea why bike is as normal, been lik e it last couple of rides, checked it all over and no binding on either brake and all spins freely,
could just be the surface?? (wet hardpack)
anyways, felt good to be out despite a bleeding leg!! haha! blood sweat and gears = happy rider lmao!

nice to be out in the sunshine, all be it windy sunshine!!!

Cooksland oh you poor thing that's where i work.

Was tempted to nip out but the wind put me off, i hate riding in it so wimped out.

Down to 91.2kg today so that will really start to make rides 'interesting' ;)

Haha i suppose so, yeah bodmin is a trek but the pay is there which does help. ;)

There is a ride on sunday but im not sure if i should bother, im forever waiting and tbh i find myself getting frustrated on the rides which is no good as i'll end up doing a mark and disappearing off somewhere.

I don't normally weight myself as i've sorted the diet it's just a question of time but i was curious anyway. ;)

The main incentive is my brother the poor bugger is getting married for his sins next month and i need to drop the pounds close to 82 kg asap as i have a gorgeous pearlescent suit i used to wear, im just trying out some 'spices' to help speed things along. ;)

Id invite you tim but it's a small reception im afriad, i'll see what plans he has made though, there was hellup with the invitations so it's been shrunk.

Btw don't you ever feel lonesome in this thread of yours. ;)

  • haha! pearlescent suit! that sounds Uber pimp!!

not fishing for an invite fella! only ever met your brother the once! wouldnt be fair on genuine friends of his that may have been left out!! having been there and odne it i know and remember all the 'discussions' on the Guest list!!!!!

anyways, I like My thread hahaha! someones got to keep the end up after all! hahah! nearly took a few pics with the phone today just up from mars are aas it looked really quite special! but figured the whole phone camera issue woulod just leave it looking normal for want of a better word!

Well he only has hardly any friends as they've all buggered off elsewhere, besides im best man so i get at least some say, i'll see what develops anyway. ;)

Oh yeah his gf isn't at all happy with my weight loss, prolly as she's lost pounds where i've lost 2-3 stone easy oh well. :D

Well not a suit, it's pinstripe trousers but hardly any stripes show, looks very nice also some ankle boots ad the shirt ooh well it's a light blue with a purple pearl, you'd be hovering over me with a bottle of auto glym if you saw it. ;)

Well tbh this thread doesn't really deserve piccies anyway though where is everyone else as it's gone nigh on dead, matt still hovers about but where's mark, kyle helen etc.......

    Yeah can't beat night rides.

Going to be rather interesting for me, i've had a natter with 'troutie' and for around £165 ish he can knock me up this light of course i have to source a battery etc but still for what it is it's a bargain.

He reckons with 6 xpg led's id be looking at around 2000 lumens

Haha thanks great seeing you albeit briefly, as you see i've ben training like a loon but rides are a sight easier, i even have to leave my cheap training wheels on to give em a chance.

I am shattered for it mind, i did 26 miles in the morning ride the had roast and in the afternoon nipped out and did the route you like, you know the one. ;)

Brother is getting married next month so it's do or die for me, i saw you stamp on your brakes trying to catch me, would have liked a natter. ;)

I was a bit lagged as you saw.

Im about 90kg atm, my plan it to hit around 80 but im not TOO fussed about it, it's more important to get out and just enjoy the ride isn't it.

See you on the trails. ;)

Best 3 races count for overall results. Apparently thats Valentines Day and Mothers day. No excuses though. Remember you don't need to be that fit to do the Fun category.

See you on the start line. Actually probably won't as most of you aren't old giffers entered into the Veterans like me and Mark (sorry Mark)

Newnham is a mix bag, generally all you need is a fast grippy xc tyre but if it turns wet id use something that doesn't mind the mud.

We're working on a project in work & I need to spend an hour riding around Idless to test the product.

What a great job I've got!

The kit might have a modified roof bar for the bike,

The car is a Marlin 5exi

Can't give any info at the moment re: the 'product'. I will say however; if we get the result we really hope for, it will be a great scoop for a small Cornish company.

  • had a nice blast around today!
went down the track through the field opposite and down past the stream inthe valley! although didnt notice the water bottle pop out up the top when i got a little over exuberant!! (sp??) but half way up the hill the other side i noticed, turned around to go and fetch it only to find a flatty too! not impressed! pulled the new tube out to find on top of that the energy gel in my saddle bag had started to leak too! so goey stuff everywhere! NIce!
But, all sorted and found the bottle and aimed off into tehidy for some fun! the main trails are good, slippy on the roots mind! but keeps you on your toes! the other tracks are Very muddy and fun!!! had to take a minor detour to avoid a group of walkers out htough hahaha! but blasted out and down to portreath for 5 mins rest! pedal back the years were down there too and another group of guys out for a ride too so was busy with bikes!!! nice though!
cruised back up through the woods to the village and home, felt good though! nice ride, plenty of mud and many smiles!!!

Did rebleed the rear brake with the Syringe pushed up from the caliper method, = MESS hahah! shant be doing it that way again lol! will stick to the old method used on the car brakes hahahah! but is all done now! still not quite as firm as i'd like but cant seem to to get rid of it! hmmmn,

Anyways! Bissoe this sunday if anyones interested?? will eb the normal howl around the downhillers tracks and a cruise along to the cafe and prolly back via mars!

And off around tehidy with Cooky friday morning if anyone fancies a short blast???

It gets washed off too easily, on the dry it's superb but when it's wet i killed it off on that 26 miler the other day, it was bitching towards the end as you could hear it ever so slightly running dry.

I'll just keep a bottle of this car oil on me, if i need to relube meh least i don't have to wait for it to dry.

Btw got me an ortileb mud racer saddle bag, fantastic bit of kit and in every way better for general riding than my topeak wedge was, bit large but the clamp is far sturdier than that single screw on the topeak not to mention it's waterproof for the most part, and it doesn't rattle or flap about.

    http://www.wiggle.co.uk/p/cycle/7/Ortli ... 360028252/

Bit smaller when you see it on the bike.

  • Great ride today, 16 turned out for the bissoe bash, real good feel to it this morning too, took a different route to usual in from scorrier, (turned left at the end of the flyover instead of right) some nice lanes and st and then into a good rocky descent and up past the mine workings before coming out at the top of chasewater and on into unity and down to the normal play ground, had a bit of fun around the rollers and drops before heading right out the top to a nice ST section back down to mars allbe it 'slightly' overgrown haha! Had a play in mars before heading up for the down hill track, great blast down for the first 4 of us that went (turned out cooky had applied the thighs and pinged his chain off and the rest fancied a rest haha) but unfortunately big rich took a pretty bad tumble! Majorly banana'd front wheel and snapped saddle rails! And a look of pained expression on his face! Poor bugger just got it fixed too from the last bissoe adventure! Mind, he was howling down the downhill track! Rich sorted and rested and the others all down we aimed out to the cafe, some aimed back for rest/surf/time, had a nice roll back along and back up to the top of the downhill for the other sideand back down to mars and along a path that due to the ferns you couldn't actually see when hitting it! Good fun! Then cruised back to the cars.
All in a really good ride! Lots of adventure! Fun and laughter! Typical club day!
Roasting down in the valley mind! But nice!

Stozzle next week! Hope the weathers as good!

    Morning all,

first post on here, but thought I would say hi as a bunch of us are on holiday in St Ives next week, and will be looking for places to bike.

I've read through quite a bit of this thread, and it seems like Tehidy and Bissoe are two possible locations, but wondered if you lot were able to share any ideas? Nobody seems to have a route resource for Cornwall like there is for the Peak (my local haunt), N Wales etc.

Cheers, seems like a nice forum you've got going here.

  • Hey Gord!
Sadly there are no real maps for routes in cornwall, there are a fair few places to ride around and some great tracks but ideally you'll need a local guide as such!
What dates are you down from?

This coming sunday there's a ride in St.Austell and the following the club are riding tehidy (link in sig but site a little light on ride details as the two of us that put the details up, ones on holiday and I'm stuck with no computer at the mo!! Left with the blackberry which doesn't support flash player!) Trying to arrange it one ride up the county and one down as such,
If you fancy a mid week ride around tehidy give me a shout as its my local woods, bissoe/poldice valley Is full of great tracks due to it being predominantly mining waste, and a lot of people taking the time to carve out some good routes! But you could also very easily ride straight through it! - its also part of the coast to coast trail too, starts at portreath and goes over to devoran , 11 miles in total!
There's also the bike barn on the portreath to porthtowan road, loads of parking, good spares, hire bikes, food, beer, cider, lapierre, cube and some other smaller ranges, clothing etc.
And bike chain ricci on the edge of redruth, lots of spares, range of bikes clothing etc. And als a ricci cafe 2/3 the way over on the coast to coast trail.
There is an old mbr killer loop that is rideable from the ricci cafe, - carparking is £3 there! Is a good route, takes in a lot of different tracks and some good runs down. Sadly though I don't have the details of it (have done it before with the club but the guy who led is in the alps teaching mtb'ing at the mo)

If your feeling adventurous there is cardinam woods in bodmin which has a lot of routes around it although another ideal with a local!!

If I think of much more I'll pop it up!!
    Timmo.
