    Hi all!

Have just returned back to the Camborne/Helston area having lived 'oop north' in Derby for the last 5 years, and am looking for some new riding buddies. I usually post on Singletrack and someone on there said to give this forum a shout so here it is :)

So, any regular rides I can tag along with?!

    Cheers

Either have a look at Cornwall mtb website - www.cornwallmtb.kk5.org/

    or

There is a meet every Sunday 9am at Bissoe cafe. Nornally some of us meet at 8am (Factory Shop, Redruth) for a quickish ride down to the cafe.
The next 2 weeks might be a little different though.
On Sunday there is a charity ride Deveron - Portreath & back, which a few people are doing. I think there are a couple going from the Factory Shop first (8am).
Next week is the 24/12 - 6 of us are at that.

Cheers for the offer mark, biking is currently on hold seeing as i broke my front hub, got me a new wheel coming so should be a matter of days, if im jammy i may still get in for sundays ride but we'll see.

Andy you are welcome to tag along, always good to see a new face.
The trouble with having an open mind, of course, is that people will insist on coming along and trying to put things in it.

You broke your front hub already?!! What did you do? That's either bad luck or a bad crash or both.

What did i do, um i rode the bike lol, well i did hear it crack in unity woods, i think i might have leant on it laterally when walking downhill as it was very slippery at one point, wasn't hard on it but it must have been nearing the end of it's life, they are a few years old.

Hope said they'll fit another body but time i do that and get another wheel built it won't be far off a new wheel anyway!!!

    Here's the thread with pics.

And here's the bargain wheels i got for £77.

Ouch! So it was your old wheel on the new bike?

I thought you'd bust your brand new wheels!

Those Hope 2 hoops look good. If my rear wheel goes, I'll be getting one. The front wheel is a bit harder though on Stout hubs - they last forever! Rear is a lamer Shimano hub but so far so good (only one buckling so far. Front wheel had a rebuild three months ago after a crash - oops!)
  • Matt,

    surf question sorry....

I am looking to upgrade.. I am currently riding a 7-4 x 21 1/2 and 2 3/4 its great and easy to ride catch waves... I have progressed faster than expected thanks to mr bunt..but want something smaller less to worry about but still something thats fun....was thinking about a fish type prob 6-4 x 21 etc...what do you think ....i still wont go out in anything over 3ft....not yet...

am i trying to run before i can walk....

    cheers for you help..

No christ those wheels are shocking, there's no way id trust them to take a typical ride without breaking.

I'll still be having me the I9 wheels this just couldn't have happened on a worse month for me, got a lot going on atm oh well.

Nice one! That's impressive and you'll easily be able to move that board on - big demand for them.

I'd go for a wideish nosed hybrid fish - 6'4"-6'6 and probably 20" wide - 21" is very wide indeed. Make sure it has some volume in the tail (fish boards do) and stick to three fins - not two as many fish boards have. I bought a new board (a 6ft quad) from Bunty three weeks ago and saw a few that would suit you down to the ground.

It will be easier to paddle out and duckdive but should still be stable enough to not intimidate.

Amazing progress though - brilliant! :D

Dazza - I lose touch with all your bike stuff. Sounds annoying though. Hope it works out okay.
  • yes....I like the sound of that..

    cheers Mat... :D

Cheers for that. Have seen the Cornwall MTB site and thought they might be worth a go, otherwise might give the Bissoe group a go. I know Poldice well - always good for a bit of downhill fun! :D

I went into our garage last night and got the shock of my life when I saw something I didn't recognise out of the corner of my eyes.... my bike. Haven't been riding since we got back from Scotland more than three weeks ago. I can see I will have to go on a top secret training program involving illegal pasty supplements and cider injections before I go out with any of you guys with your road bikes and regular exercise.

Ahh yes Kyle but you secretly manage to be a hill ninja with no prior exercise or training. I think the only way to knacker you out is to run a fair distance or maybe swim a long way. Cycling doesn't seem to "work"

    Git.

Anyone bored of this weather? I know I am.

Any running or swimming will make me sulk, tired and cry, in that order. You've got me there.

Happy with the excellent kitesurfing weather.
  • kyle, is there any sport you dont do lol!

only managed a trip into town last week to get a bit for the computer but not ridden proerly in a while, been feeling pretty damn shocking lol!

think i need to get out for a good blast though! maybe the extra mud about will bring the love back haha!

Definitely very muddy out there - wimped out and took the MTB this morning as I thought I'd fall off the road bike - got well and truly splattered. Fun though!

Kyle - how about Pool (snooker for beginners?)? We have a proper pool table here yet apart from once in a green and blue striped moon, I'm shockingly bad. It was left here by the landlord though...

I'm rubbish at pool. I used to have a theory that my shots became better if I drank an optimum amount of alcohol. It was generally around 2.5 pints. With depreciation I would imagine that the equivalent today is a half of Caliber shandy.

Ahh - the good old two pint peak! I have similar. I was okay once but just like skateboarding, I'm now cack.

Stag do this weekend with mates that can still drink - uh oh...
