Yeah but i've heard their extra grip is at a cost, they draaaaag.

You know what i may wait until i get the I9's i've decided on stans rims and may go tubeless.

I was finding my Conti MKs (2.2) too draggy on the roads and hardpack trails. The Sauser roll SO fast and grip well in semi mud (not tried them in serious mud yet).

And got some Nimbus 1.5s for super fast MTB fun at some stage!

Timmo - I reckon you'd love the Sausers.

Schwalbe tyres just wear too quickly and are twice the price of Spesh tyres. Maxxis are too heavy. Quite like Panaracer but not convinced - "shoulders" are too square to my liking so they suddenly let go on any wet tarmac or hardpack.

Yeah that's the problem im having, finding one that fits the bill, conti vertical pro's are meant to be very good all rounders hmm.

Matt does clive mitchells sell those spec tyres?

We had a little problem. I snapped my rear mech hanger. It took a little time to untangle everything, then I had to single speed it.

Went back to the cafe, hoping to bimble back with you, but obviously took a little too long 'fixing' the bike.

A day for some pretty good mechanical issues.

Dunno i thought the 2bliss models we're for tubeless.

Ooh ouch, hell i was there for an hour, you must have took an age fixing it oh dear.

Mechanical issues lol tell me about it, two for me, mind i was very lucky with that chain eh, it's only just scratched the arm a teeny bit, i was quite chuffed when i got home, sodding hg shimano crappy chains.

  • thats part the reason i carry a spare hanger with me in my saddle bag, (if i have the back pack on i normally have the proper spare and the one i made when i first had the frame) never know when you'll need one! (9/10 if youcarry one you wont use it!)

dazz, i typed in sauser then added mtb tyres lol!
they look like the trailblasters in that they have a low ramped middle and slight shoulders and are thin! which i suspect helps the fast rolling somewhat!

Timmo - they are the ones. 2Bliss means you can do tubeless or tubes (which I do). CM do sell them - and cheaper than on the net (plus the usual extra discount). £18 for te best tyre I've had by far isn't bad. They also won a recent Singletrack race XC tyre test.
  • coool, i'll bear them in mind when the cinders need changing!

Dazz, saw that yesterday i think it was, coulndt be bothered in posting though loL! but Sooo much misinformation about its hard to resist entering a cleaning rant mode lol!

as it happens, carbo has undergone an almost Full wetsanding and machine polish and follwed up wioth a nice non cut polish, sealant and a double coat of wax! makes it nice and shiny and slippery and bl##dy easy to clean too! wahooo! bonus!

the rubbish about white dust from car polish's = simples, your putting it on too thick if you get any form of residue from it!

and the polishes's using a cut method to clean the paint remove an infidecimal amount of the surface finish its negledgable! your talking maybe 1micron from a 120-160mc thick surface by hand polishing with a active cut (think AG super resin polish - Solvent cut, most common over active cut polishs!)every day over the corse of a month!!!

anyways, Biking section! back to biking, off to give my self 10 lashes for talking non bike!! :D

Well made m mind up, two 2.1 nobby nics are on the way, meant to be excellent all rounders with decent grip and longevity.

The writing on the sidewalls swung it for me.

The torch will be coming of, i look like a plank with in on in broad daylight anyway, may as well save it for the winter months. ;)

Tim, you fancy a ride up tehidy tomorrow, im getting bored sitting on my arse.

Dazza - keen to hear what you think of the NNs. Have considered them and the RRs a few times but just not convinced they'll last.

Planned to enter a tri this weekend (Mrs Matt was going to as well but fully booked - DOH!!

Well the ralphs are meat to wear fast but the nic's are meant to last a fair while, and they grip better in the loose stuff just don't roll quite as fast, plus they come up on the small side a 2.1 is more like a 2.0 if not smaller.

Btw matt your tyres, you went and nicked that last pair didn't you!!

That pump you bought very nice i had my greasy mits on it today, feels very smooth i was tempted to get the stand up pump but that might be a bit large on the frame.

Went out for a bit today while the goings good, got all my bits except for my oakleys, shame as the ray bans are a pita and kept sliding around still better than nothing.

Matt those nobby nics, very fast tyres, wouldn't think it to look at them, i was only able to wash out when pushing the bike on loose gravel, it handles mud in it's stride and cleans fast which was surprising, i pretty much ran out of grip nowhere, i had to come off on one very steep section, but it was at the far end and so steep i had a job to even walk down it.

The squirt wax lube, impressive the chain was smooth and quiet all day, just threw it onto the rollers and let sit for a while, no more purple extreme or prolink for me.

Got the kmc chain after two weeks, silly sods sent it to some camping business. :?

The zipfit stuff hmmm the drink is a bit different and weak, the strawberry recover is nice with milk and the gel is like rocket fuel, i'll have to get me some more of that.

So i went from redruth down bissoe past matt's place ;) then through to idless, id have cycled home but my arse was that tender i caught the train back.

Good ride Dazza - that's a fair mileage you covered.

I half killed myself on the Allez today - didn't go far but I went for it. New route is VERY hilly!

Back on the MTB on Friday.
  • bl##dy hell dazz, thats some trek! good to know about the tyres though!

yeah the zipfit energy drinks are a little weak but do the job! if you nose through the catalogue they also do Devils claw which i know you recommended to me a while back!

not been out on the biek this week, might try and make it down for sundays trailriders ride depending on how i'm feeling?? cornwall guys are doing a weekend down penzance way, But have been Seriously over doing it int he fornt garden! , and despite my best efforts the wife wasnt so keen on me building a nice Wallride/Berm section at the bottom of the drive hahahaha! but now i own my own Sledge hammer! Wahoooooo! Let the Mayhem Commence!

Just ordered the bits to fix my MTB. Off to Certini on Friday to pick 'em up.

Feels weird this week - not cycled since Sunday.

Matt (and any other runners out there), there is a charity 10K run on this Sunday from Lakeview (coach road on way to Bodmin). More details - 01208 831808

The reason most people find the Zipfit drinks a bit weak is because they mix 'em in a 750ml bottle - not 500ml.

The other thing is that they are not overly sweet, which makes 'em taste a bit weaker.

    Dazza
Sounds like a good ride today.
As for the gel - the only prob I found was trying to swallow it. You nearly need to chew it! As you said though, they do a very good job.

  • hahaha! nice dazzz!

might have a change of plan now! mother has just rung and may be coming down for brothers birthday, so not 100% sure what i'll be doing now! but! what time did last weeks ride finish?? would need to be in St.a for late lunch?? hmmmn,

Mark, did you order a spare hanger to go in your pack?? you know if you have one you'll never need it again loL!
i did mark out 500ml on my bottle so i knew how much to mix it with! (bottom of the ribbedsection on the bottle that came with it)

Well for me it finished around 12pm, you can always scoot off early id imagine, they do meet at brymor around 8am, have a ride around then meet at the bissoe cafe at 9am where they head off as a group, i guess they meet an hour early so they can have a proper decent run first.

It's a good laugh either way, i really would turn up if i were you. ;)
