I soldered the end cap onto the cable last time I changed a cable

I take it your BB will fit the new frame?

    BTW - There's a ride Friday night if your bike is ready . . . . . .

It should do, although it has an octalink bb the higher anthems use xtr chainsets so hollowtech 2, it'll be fine.

Id be very suprised if it's ready by then but i will sort the bike out asap, i have most of the bits i need here and ready anyway. :)

    Nah!

    Did a road ride.

Went from my house to Bissoe. Out to Porth Towan, then across to Gwithian, before heading to Leedstown and back to Bissoe. Went home via Blackwater & down to Newquay.

    77 miles in total.

    Very adventurous ride too.
Overturned car on the way to Bissoe. Helped out there & called amulance.
    Then the helicopter 'rescue'

Had a cracking blast around tehidy earlier, rolling Very fast! 8)
came to the aid of a cyclist in distress too as he'd pinch flatted his rear in the section i'd just done, found my pump was shafted too so had to do it via shock pump hahahah! but got him going! also pointed him in the direction of the xc section as he hadnt found that!
so all good and a happy bunny today! except when i cleaned the bike off noticed my lower jockey wheel had lost all its bearings and was moving in an ovular motion! and it was one of my shiny kcnc ones too!:cry::cry:
    ebay dreckly for another!!!!

bit of news ont he cyclist front that fell of the cliffs, he was a gent in his 60's from 'Druth, wasnt on a mountainbike so either a racer or hybrid type, not thought to be a suicide either! - the things you hear in the cafe of oa monring!!:D

There is a VERY precarious drop on the South end of Portreath - a massive cliff suddenly appears - was it there?

A total of 9 hours on the train and two hours driving (a Nissan Quashqui hire car - cr4p) yesterday plus a two hour meeting (nr London) yesterday! Did the 12.6 mile ride to loosen up this morning and 10k race (run) tomorrow. I HATE not doing any exercise but it was a great meeting so worth it.

Think I might stick my Fastraks back on - MKs are a bit draggy at the moment. Fancy some Sauserwinds soon but think the old tyre will do - still some life left in them.

Anyone remember the descent down from the King Harry Ferry road to Cowlands (bridlepath) - my god it's SO steep! Rode up it (only just) and back down when we went to Loe Beach - must be one of the harshest hills around - but love it!

Is that the one that takes you to the roundabout by the shell garage?

If so been up it a few times, quite steep.

Phoned up betd for some shock bushes so i can throw on the rp23, money will be available tomorrow so i can get the bike as/when i can but first things i need to strip bits on and flog em for some nice xtr bits instead, can't be doing with deore gear, just means i'll have to stay in middle ring and run without a front mech until it's sorted, shouldn't be long though.

Not quite - it's a bridlepath centred here - proper "lean off the head tube" steepness and sustained too! Pretty hairy going down, very hard going up - but fun.

Summer tyres now on at last - and a nice little weight saving too

  • nothing wrong with deore Dazz, greatvalue kit, reliable and almost bullet proof, not thge lightest sure but good quality kit!
your just a bike bling tart! 8) :P

let me know what size the deore is as might be tempted for the old fs frame!

The size will be your typical size, the width of handlebars only varies at the clamp, both 25mm and 31.6 bars are the same diameter elsewhere.

How about two deore shifters for £25 that do anything for you. ;)

Bling lol hell yeah, just got me a kmc 9sl on ebay for £30 :D

Already ordered the shock bushes as well, trying to flog my nearly new thomson seatpost for £40 but so far no biters.

It's gorgeous such a shame no one is interested, or at least yet as it's early days.

I have a 302 tora forks, a fox rp2 and avid juicy 3's to sell on as well as most of the groupset, got a nice slx shadow rear mech on it as well. ;)

I'ts not a question of funds more time as i want this bike the way i want it asap.

Oh might be picking it up tomorrow or day after depending on my finish time. :D

I might haggle with the lbs first so i'll have to see how they respond. ;)

    How much you want for:
    SLX rear mech
Cassette (what is top ring - 32 or 34?)
Chain (as long as it'snot Shimano)

Chain will more than likely be shimano seeing the rest of the groupset is.

Say £20 for the cassette and £30 for the rear mech sound reasonable enough?

    Cassette is 11/34 hg50 iirc.

  • i can fully understand wanting it the way you want it! thats how i went through the carbon one! make it useable and then upgrade as and when to how i want it! would love to XTR the shifters and mech's but price makes it semi pointless as i strongly doubt i'll be able to tell the difference!

no one ever bids until the last seconds if they are serious!

will have to let you know on the shifters, might be a bit tight cash wise next couple of weeks! need to reinsure the car really! But bike bits are too tempting! hahaha! will let you know me old fruit!

looking forward to seeing this bike in the flesh though! sounds like a corker!

So Dazza - you are stripping the Anthem and sticking your other parts on it? Any pics of it in it's current form yet?

Spent the last few months getting my bike just how I want it - still getting intermittent rubbing (not enough to drag, just makes a noise) from the rear disk brake but other than that it's totally spot on. I finally understand why people upgrade rather than just buy a new bike!

wanted an 11/32 - but can get that for £20 new anyway.
    Rear mech is £35 new.

Oh I changed my tyres yesterday - seemed far too easy and I was suspicious (it's often a bit of a faff) - realised an hour later than I had put the front tyre on the wrong way round (it's directional) - DOH DOH and DOH!!

Mark - rear SLX for £35?! Blimey - that's cheap.
  • matt is your rear disc warped a little fella?? both mine are and you can hear a light catching as they spin, not enough to worry about though,

Timmo - checked and checked again but it looks dead straight to me (and unmarked - no cracks or anything). Been happening pretty much since new. Pads are sintered so I get a metallic "zinging" noise - but only intermittently and it's doesn't slow the wheel down.

Have considered Formulas but I'm a bit loathe to shell out £300 for something that should work fine. They do their jobs well enough though.
  • thats cool! i keep intending to gte new discs for mine but something else pops up loL!

With your disc - have you loosened the calliper & re-aligned it? It can take a couple of goes to get it exact.

Depends on the model of the mech, the sgs is £40, ok call it £25 then and £15 for the hg50.

Matt - bike has only just arrived today, pics will be up asap, i may be lucky and be able to fit my xt front mech, it looks similar to the one already on the bike, may need spacers so we'll see there i will get xtr eventually though.

Yeah sweet bike isn't it i can't wait to throw on the other bits especially the rp23 that should really improve things. 8)

Bit twitchy but manageable and accelerates so fast it's a great ride. 8)
