I'm off work tomorrow as i have just picked up the demo stumpy fsr elite :D looks such a beast!

I had a round trip route lined up from st austell that includes clay trails and luxy woods. I've only ever done it once so can't guarantee problem free navigation and i am lacking in fitness aswell. If you fancy it then just let me know, or, if you've got a nice route then that could be a possibility depending where it is.

    Hi,

I'm relatively new to biking, recently bought a Giant XTC3 and been on a few rides, but if anyone can give any pointers on offroad routes, give me a shout.

Free most weekends and a couple of evenings in the week.

    Oh, I'm in Falmouth.

If you are a beginner, there is a ride from Bissoe bike hire on Sunday at 9am.

How long you going to be out?

    What time? & where?

I have a little bit of research to do tomorrow, but I can spare 2-3 hours.

Well mate, i've got no time restraints at all so if theres somewhere you would rather go with a few trails then i'm up for that if you like. Cradinham for a quick blast?

    Don't really like Cardinham.

Do you live Bodmin way? If so Dunmere will show you how good the Stumpy is.

If not I'm happy to go your suggested St Austell route.

I would prefer to meet either around 9.30 or 3pm so I get chance to do the work I need to do.

Borough Arms car park, there's access onto the Camel trailat the back & a way into the woods from there.

Incase you don't know the Borough Arms is on the Wadebridge road out of Bodmin, near the bottom of the hill.

Address: Dunmere Road Dunmere Bodmin PL31 2RD

    Website: http://www.theborougharms.com/location.htm

    9.30am - see ya there.

Yeah it was really good, all that woods on my doorstep pretty much and i never knew!! I was pleased with my downhill efforts although that one descent you did was just a bit too insane for me  !

I'm not feeling too bad actually at the moment - i'm sure it will get me later.

I've put a deposit on the bike :lol:

Is this the fsr epic or the pitch?
The trouble with having an open mind, of course, is that people will insist on coming along and trying to put things in it.

Ah nice one, i had a nose at the pitch but never picked it up in clive mitchells, very fetching blue, i should have compared it to the meta 55 that was opposite don't know why, i've never picked up a specialized odd as i've pretty much tested every brand, except for giant/spec and some other very obscure and hard to find brands.

I was going to plump for an anthem but i think it'll be too racy and too much like my tomac was so i'll give it a miss tempting as it is, from what i gathered it's like a racier version of the fsr, the commie is meant to climb nearly as good not because of weight more the control system they use.

I must get more hill in my rides so that i've promised myself this time round, no matter how slow i have to take it.

There is a beginners ride from Bissoe Cafe Sunday 9am or look on the club site for what they have on that day.

If you are on facebook, look up Cornwall MTB club and Cornish Trail riders. You be able to check out when people are riding.

Not really, think planet mars and you won't be too far off.

Though there is unity woods which is small but nice, bit like idless but the trails are clearer makes for interesting downhilling.

Looks like i should be getting a giant anthem x3, they have run out of framesets so im gonna have to strip it down and throw everything onto it, could take some time though.

Seems they are very hard to get hold of, zero breakages and zero pivot failures, quite impressive i certainly saw nothing on the net.

  • Wow, new peeps and New bikes! Awsome!
Kernow, one of our lady's int he club had a black and green demo bike for a while when hers was being fixed, must say, impressive looking machine!!

Unity woods are good, some great little trails around there, hoping to get out this friday with some of the Kerrier guys, (facebook), some of it is very technical, especially if you ride the down hill tracks that have been built up there, Very good though, a lot of fun to be had!

Starkie, follow the link in my sig and look for BigRich as he's from Helstone too! does quite a bit around there knows some route's,

got to try and get the forks serviced this week down the Barn, 8)

Dazza - a mate of mine was also looking for one but gave up and went for a full sus Boardman.

Kernow - Bissoe is a lot of fun. The main plus is that it doesn't turn into a bog at the first sight of rain (like Idless). Plenty of crazy stuff around the mines if you like that sort of thing but also plenty for more XC orientated riders - like me!

You can also have a nice coffee and some cake at the cafe afterwards - always a bonus!

Lol yeah the guy said there's only certain sizes and models left im lucky in that i can have the frameset or the x3, the pita bit is to fund for certain bits like a new shifter and front mech i'll be stripping and flogging bits off hence why it'll be a while, can't be doing selling bits that aren't brand new.

    Anyway here's what he said.
Good morning Darren - the Anthem x is a great choice - we have a demo bike available for an hours blast if you want to try one - we have sold a huge amount of Maestro bikes this season, as has everyone else. The bikes are very light and incredibly tough - zero failures and no pivot issues at all - give me a call as availibility is difficult at the moment.

You can always hand them this way . . . .

I'll probably be going to Bissoe on Sunday.
The beginner ride I did this weekend was pretty good. Did nearly an hour getting to the cafe. An hour or so nice & slow with the beginner group then an hour to get back to the car. Total 22 miles.
Not as technical as what we did at Dunmere.

Looks like mate of mind wants a ride out on Friday evening, if anyone fancies tagging along at Dunmere. It will not be a fast one.
