Losing weight would mean sawing off a limb - which could lead to a drop in performance.0
-
haha! yeah but for some of us its easier to loose the bike weight hahahah!
trouble with a bike that light is that any slight bump in the road and you'll be looking at possible frame death loL! its quite nice to know you have a lightish bike that can take some proper abuse though! reassuring!
i'll go nosing and see if i can find the links to the silly bikes!Timmo.

And you can buy a complete bike with high end groupset for £1100.
This one is 1200g (2.6lb)
A set of wheels will be 1700g (don't think you'll get down to 1500g)
These are both affordable everyday frames, not £5k+ race specials. How light do you want to go?
Ooh a ribble nice choice, you have to get the seatpost cut right for you iirc but still, i was nosing at that particular bike or the focus cayo until my situation changed, good choice there. The trouble with having an open mind, of course, is that people will insist on coming along and trying to put things in it.

Well I cycled to Cardinham woods today and tried out some of the trails in the woods. Must admit, didn't really enjoy it at all and felt that the trails were pretty boring. Is this Cardinham or was i just not adventurous enough?
Mark - I'm hoping to pick up my new bike from truro early friday afternoon now as i have the afternoon off work . Are you still going to Dunmere?Whyte 9050 -
cardinham takes someone that knows the little tracks and routes to shopw you around! otherwise it could well appear to be a little bland, one of the down hill sections is a corker, i think it used by green laners to get up as has a few Bumps in it that under the tree cover suddenly appear! good stuff,
am hoping to get out tomorow for a blast if i can! really needing it at the mo lol!
Good news ont he bike though Kernow,Timmo.

IMO you got Cardinham bang on. There are one or two places in there, but I find it pretty boring.
There was a theory that some proper trails were going to get built in there. Don't know if that's still happening??????
Had a slight change of plan tomorrow. I now have no car (due to a mate blowing his gearbox), so 2 of us are doing a ride local to us.
If you want to meet at my house (or at McDonalds in Fraddon) at 3pm, you are welcome to come along with us. It might work out just about the time you are coming back through?????
Just let me know.
Timmo
You'll have to show me the better bits of Cardinham sometime.
Looks like my Sunday ride is going to be on the road bike - bu**er not having the car.Stumpjumper FSR 09/10 Pro Carbon, Genesis Vapour CX20 ('17)Carbon, Rose Xeon CW3000 '14, Raleigh R50

Tried the new XT SPDs today - and fell off! Forgot I had them on as a little girl suddenly moved into my path and keeled right over - doh! Luckily they are strong - the left one took a right bashing! Just scraped.
Must concentrate more!0 -
Matt, I take it you have loosened them right off?
It is better to have them too loose initially, until you get used to unclipping.
Sorry you took a tumble, but I wouldn't be to worried. Everyone has at least one clipless moment in the first few weeks.
You still get them occasionally when your used to them too. Out with KernowCB last week, I was pulling up on the pedals trying to get up a hill. I took me a little too long to realise I was no longer moving forward & was actually leaning a little too far over to the right. At least the bushes were soft! :oops:Stumpjumper FSR 09/10 Pro Carbon, Genesis Vapour CX20 ('17)Carbon, Rose Xeon CW3000 '14, Raleigh R50

Cheers Mark - I did have spds for two years - I had one too many incidents and gave up! But they seem to have improved a lot (easier to clip into, hold your feet in better, etc). Used Mrs Matt's M540s a few time to get used to them (almost identical to XTs) and was fine - but I forgot to loosen one side of the left pedal so got a bit stuck and was in a proper daze after a bit of a night out last night - oops! They seem to slicken up as I clipped and unclipped a few times.
Noticing the difference uphill though - just feels right. And errrmmm looks better too...

Kyle is quite a master of the spd splat - although it often involves a mad jump (apart from the car park incident at Smokey Joes!!)0 -
hahah the smokeys carpark one was great lol! all you could hear was Kyle laughing!
i keep having to remind my self to unclip the leg on the outside of the trails where the trail drops sown, forgot a few times and ended up tumbling down the bank with a leg randomly waving around hahah!
mine ar great now, have worn in lovely and can jab a foot down without thinking now, makes it much easier with my riding hahaha!Timmo.

Did 30 miles on Friday. Then "rowed" our boat over a mile home - Mrs Matt grounded it (!), sucked mud into the intake and killed the engine. Now sorted (flushed the engine and unblocked it all) but legs and shoulders feeling it! 10km trail run today...0
-
oooooooops! thats not so good! naughty Mrs Matt! Or! is she secretly training you for the Quadrathons with the Rowing!
sadly, i've not long woken up! off down the beach for a nice cuppa and a bit of cake i think as its Our wedding anniversary today too! (6 years!!) then maybe i might make it out for a tehidy blast later!Timmo.

The weekend of a messy, messy stag do. Paintballing all day yesterday and faced the firing squad at the end of the day because i am best man and then out in Truro last night for what i think was quite a good night.
Just shopping for me, ony just got rid of this chest infection, still got a stinking cold to get rid of, had a couple beers to drown my sorrows.
All being good money will be in the bank tomorrow if they're good, so should be picking it up in a matter of days.
Dunno if i should start stripping the tomac hmm, i think it'll be easier to leave the bits on for now and swap over on a good weekend. The trouble with having an open mind, of course, is that people will insist on coming along and trying to put things in it.
Giant Anthem X0 -
you wont be able tyo resist as soon as its in the shed! you'll be out there like a scalded cat changing bits, tweaking pressures, wiping it down, adjusting the saddle positions/bar heights etc.!
hell, i know i would!!!Timmo.

Of course i will be.
Im just unsure if i should strip the tomac now, im not sure as im wary about losing bits and it's a quick job unbolting everything anyway hmmm.
Question is do i take it up your place to finish it seeing as you have that lovely octalink tool i need and you can give it a test ride afterwards. The trouble with having an open mind, of course, is that people will insist on coming along and trying to put things in it.

Oh my rebas can flex if i brake hard enough.
Actually do you have that tool for biting cable ends, i had a lovely dirt monkey one only to have gone and lost the thing i think it's in the shed somewhere, plenty of nipples though. The trouble with having an open mind, of course, is that people will insist on coming along and trying to put things in it.

there's flex and then there's old sids flex! need to learn to trust them lol! and that they are not going to fold underneath ahahha!
dont have a bike cable end crimper, plenty of car versions and Loads of pliers!!Timmo.

Yeah but pliers usually fray the cable, i'll see what i can find, push comes to shove i'll even solder the bastage if i have to stop it fraying, i can practise on the old cable first and see what's best.
Have you fixed the leak yet btw, been waiting for a reply here, been watching tg haven't you, you tart. :PThe trouble with having an open mind, of course, is that people will insist on coming along and trying to put things in it.
Giant Anthem X0 -
hahahah! yeah damn right i have loL! been waiting gfor ages for its return!
re the leak, well! think i had too little pressure in them?? have pumped them up quite stiff and they seem to be holding fine, havent been able to get out and try them yet though, hoping to get out for a blast tomorow, had a good natter down the barn last week, dropped in for soem Ale and cider for pops and the neighbours (fathers day, and looking after the cats respectively!) and have a few things to look at if the extra pressure doesnt holdm, but fingers crossed!Timmo.

I was riding past the site where they recovered the body of the cyclist today.
Thought there was a rescue going on, but didn't realise how serious it was. Police had an access road closed and the helicopter was in the field.Stumpjumper FSR 09/10 Pro Carbon, Genesis Vapour CX20 ('17)Carbon, Rose Xeon CW3000 '14, Raleigh R50

I take it your BB will fit the new frame?
