Different ball game in the proper race categories. I have that dilemma now. Move up a category and get my ass kicked by lots of people or hang around the Fun category and do well. Mind you next Soggy I will be a spritely 40, so I can join the Veterans and can get my ass kicked by guys who are almost 50. The Grand Vets (thats the guys who are 50-60) did 3 laps same as me. I would have been 5th based on my time. And I have to wait 11 years before I can join that category. I'm guessing that I'll slow down some in that time.

If you kept the pace up for a 4th lap, you'd have been top 10 in Veterans.

    Soooooo what you moaning about?

But 2nd sounds much better when you tell your non-mountain biking friends.

Do you know a good place for a kids trailer. We're in the market
  • i got mine from Halfords whern they had the 20% sale as it made it £80, its a good trailer too! light and folds flat to the size of the base!
the attatchment for it is one thats supposed to go through the rear skewer but i couldnt get it to bite enough with mine (but ian who rides with us has the same and his is on through the skewer) without pulling the threads out the skewer end?? so have mine bolted through the machined section on the drop outs, prolly due to my skewer being old and a bit knackered!!
there are loads of trailers to choose from though, ranging from the halfords ones up to £350 for the very posh ones! The Bike Barn can do you ones for around the £140 mark which clamp onto the chain stay, and also you can hire one first to see what its like to ride with! i dont know what the differences are but i suspect its a lot to do with the name of the buggy and maybe that they have proper wheels instead of the plastic starmag style wheels?? maybe different bearings too?? but mine has taken quite a lot of use and not suffered any issues as yet! (touch wood!) and best of all, the Littlun Loves it!

your more than welcome to try mine if you want to see what the halfords ones are like,

they are Great though! especially when your littlun speaks to you all the way around! 'Dady, Slow Down'!! or Daddy its Bumpy'! hahah! also great bit of resistance training! putting an extra 60lbs ont he back! (15lb ish for the trailer and child weight!) althoguh i have found that its a lot smoother from a riders point of view to stay seated with it! if you stand on the pedals you tend to get a tugging feeling from the trailer!

occasionally they pop up int he west briton but normally ask for around the £50 ish mark which when the halfords one is only £30 more new seems a little steep??

http://www.chariotcarriers.com Bike trailer and buggy in one. And they do sell them here.

Lush 12 miler (cycle ride that is) this morning!
  • ooh, we'd dropped onto page 2!

wont be making the bodmin ride this sunday as think it will kill me lol! still not quite shot of the cold bug i picked up last week, so think a quiet one aorund tehidy is in order for me!

Oh, picked up soem Endura shorts from the bike barn last week, decent bike club discount too, but have to say they are an excellent pair of shorts! (i (i think they are the humvee's?? loads of pockes]ts and zips?? would go and look but the cat has settled!) couldnt believe the differnece in comfort over the madison ones and my spec bib's!
very happy boy now! and they are the right size so they dont get caught ont he back of the saddle! 8)

    It has gone quiet here!

Timmo - I have the Endura Singletracks both the "shorts" versions and the 3/4 length ones - both are superb and not too baggy.

Had my front wheel rebuilt after a big Idless crash last Saturday - hit something, smacked my ankle, broke spokes, bent the wheel and thought my ankle was broken - almost threw up, couldn't walk on it, etc. Was okay in the end but still hurts - it was almost dry and I got a bit overexcited! All fixed now though and I have 32 lovely new nipples...

  • just found a bit of the labeling that was attatched to them as the shorts give you no clues lol! but they are the Humvee's, bloody good shorts!

Mark, i think ive been slacking as we'd dropped off page 1! normally manage to keep us in the top half of page one with my dribble!

Hmm - might be up for that.

I have now killed my front brake. Getting it fixed but decided I hate Juicys. Terrible to maintain although they work well when not bust - about 20% of the time.

Are any of you doing the Bontrager 24/12 at Newnham Park

We have 4 or 5 teams coming down and we are looking forward to it, not racing snakes just pretty much most of the people off our local Kent forum (Sketchymtb)

I'm in the One & All team.

I think Steve is riding with another

    LHance
It should be called Newham 60, now they've dropped the max distance.

Might well look to having a go at that.

Great idea FSr, email the organiser - martynsalt@aol.
  • had a great blast around today, quick shoot through tehidy and down to portreath, along the tramway to the bikebarn, then up to wheel peevor for some bridleway thrashing! brilliant fun especially as the bridleways were hard and fast! although took a large stone to the chainring and bent three teeth snapping the heads of two! oooops! didnt half make a Clang when it bounced off and onto the frame!
camer home buzzing so must be good! then went down the beach with the family, watched the surf before retiring to the cafe for a toasted Bacon, Brie and mushroom sandwhich! a near perfect day!

Not as a couple then?

MTBing is suffering a bit at the mo. I need to do an evening ride Bodmin / Truro way this week!

Anyone fancy a trip round Dunmere Tues / Wed?

Mark - just run (Saturday) the Endurancelife coastal 10k - I am the yellow dot in the pic below!

Brutal run but came 4th out of about 120 - which is okay.

Seem to be better at running than MTBing!

    P1000347.jpg

Very near the end (about 400 metres and a big hill to run up to the finish!)

    Merrell Mudman next year???

I know someone that did it this year & loved it (well that's what he said after he recovered - his wife drove home while he slept)

Obviously a Duathlon, not a tri.

Or you could have a go at a nice easy / fun tri - Helston in June - 400m swim, 16.5mile cycle & 3.5 mile run.
