  • well, what a ride! thanks guys, was great to ride with you all despite me slowing you all down! (4 of us in total, Nigel from Kent, Tony and transporterboy2 because i really cant remember your name! nick rings a bell??) i can honestly say i have never been so comprehensively out ridden on any of the local trails before! (unless the other guys were taking pitty on me!!) watching you guys was awsome for what i saw hahah!
unfortunately though i am Really suffering now, so looks like i'll be missing Si's gig tonight, and i really am absolutely Gutted, i think i'll be heading to bed the same time as the littlun! gone all hyper sensetive and wobbly and the eye's are laying up a smidge!
but was great, really enjoyed it,
the cuppa and chat whilst cleaning the bikes after was good too! have to do it again sometime!

Hope you are feeling ok now Timmo and ready for the Sunday ride, i hope Tony will make it, i think he is about to get hooked on mtbing...

I'll not make the Sunday ride but will keep it in mind for the future, what time does it normally set off and when do you get back..

    Cheers
  • Hey nige! yeah feleing a lot better, just have a nasty saw throat and cold to deal with!
normal rides are 09:30 start and around 12ish finish, rides are scattered around the place from bodmin down really, as said when out on thursday, a really goods atmosphere in the club, not full on serious but more about a good ride and having a laugh at the same time! tomorow should be a good laugh, nice and slippery so with anyluck will be able to get some decent pics too! will be two loops of tehidy as we did on thursday but only the once,
i menat to say as well, my Grandparant are Rochester people and one of my aunts is maidstone and a couple of cousins are still in maidstone (the other auts and uncles moved around a bit), only normally blast up from mums for the day as its only a couple of hours from there, but next time am up for any time longer will give you a shout!

pyebibby4 the clubs base din the truro ish area, but rides are all around the county, occasionally iddless, bissoe, cardinham etc. keep an eye on the meet sheet through the link in my sig and if they coincide with you being down then come out for a blast!

wont be out during the week this week as am off with father to test drive a new car for him in exeter! 8)

  • Had a nice slippy slidey ride around tehidy yesterday, had certainly got a lot more slippy since thursday!Ian had a classy tank slapper on soem wet roots early on and kinda really set the theme for the ride! i managed some additional route finding on the ST by carrying on down the bank through the trees after not managing to make the slightly slippery corner, on the brink of an over the bars moment, managed to save grace by landing on my 4rse! phew!
all had a bit of fun on the drop down tot he normal trail from the top of the tree line onf the main section of ST where Tony caused almost wee wee inducing laughter with his antics, then a quick loop of the other two tracks for a bit more fun and yet again more of tony's insane riding! leaping of the bike in an adrenaline fueled hyper! hahaha! then up for another loop of the ST track which with a dozen of us hacking along had become significantly more slippery! the drop down at the end causeda lot more humour this time, only one crash which was Andy (transporterboy) who was followiing Tony down, which in itself was quite funny! slightly off line and stopped dead on a small tree, poor thing now has a magura shaped hole in it! with Tony still leading the How is the MOst Balls out for the last dropdown a few headed back up for another go and Tony managed and Even faster even more balls out on the verge of hospital run pulled off to perfection and a mass amount of laughing and crazed onlookers walking by! Rach decided to give it one last effort and put in a seriously quick run with the face that can only be described as 100% commited/concetration, no time for words, but received a lot of cheering when she landed!
was a good fun morning, the only let dfown was the weather! the start of the ride was Blue sky and sunshine which quickly turned to hail, wind, rain, hail again, more rain etc!
was also really good to meet little Adam who the club are hoping to raise some money for with a coupe of charity events in the summer to try and get him a special dissabled bike, cracking little lad!

    Me

1st race- Fun category. It says 12+, so some spotty teenager will probably kick my butt

THis will be my 1st race, but already I have a 2 top tips:
    1) Don't start taking your bike to pieces and swapping parts 3 days before the race. It'll end in tears .... and lots of swearing
    2) Kids always find some reason to stop you going out on a training ride. Don't have kids. It'll end in tears.... and lots of swearing. Though having a kid on a bike seat hiting you and shouting "Go faster daddy" is probably good training.
  • hahah! kyle, that made me smile! Jorja shouts Daddy Slow down out the trailer if we get over 15mph lol!

Best of luck on Sunday matey!

WTF. No-one told me you had to do training.

Is pasty training considered suitable? Giant pasties for stamina. Lots of little pasties for speed. Hmmmm pasties.
  • How did you guys get on today?

had a great fun ride around bissoe/poldice area and a good blast down to the bikebarn after, Really blessed with the weather aswell!

How did you guys get on today?

I was 2nd in the Fun race. Pretty happy with that.

Don't know how Mark did. I did a runner before the big boys race. All the scary people with carbon bikes and more lycra than should be allowed in MTBing intimidated me.

Cheers guys. I was pretty pleased with myself.

It was great conditions. Dry and not too warm. Apparently not very Soggy Bottom. I made a classic mistake at the start. It was on a hill and I burned up it. Check out http://www.joolzedymond.com/photocart/i ... mage=18136 that was about 200 m from the start. At the top I was way ahead of the next guy. "This is easy" I thought, "I am a mountain bike god and I will crush everyone". The next guy caught me after the next climb, when I was feeling like death.
    Lesson 1 - don't push too early.
    Lesson 2 - don't get too cocky.
Lesson 3 - don't fill your water bottle with energy drink, it tastes horrible after 20 minutes.
Lesson 4 - don't go past someone, slide off the track, then get in his way as you get back on the track. He WILL swear at you.
Lesson 5 - bacon and egg butties are loverrrrly.

All in all a very educational day. Then I came home and painted the bathroom.
