Surf-Matt wrote:The roofrack itself was about £100 (specific fit for the roof rails - yours will be easy to get the right "feet" for) and the bike mounts/racks were almost half price at Halfords - £75 each. They are 591 Pro somethings - basically they work and are nice and swoopy so look sort of cool.
Matt- you do realise you put "nice and swoopy" on a public forum where anyone can see?
Thanks for the info. I was thinking about getting the same ones.0 -
Ah but check out the swoopiness!

Managed to win the Sprint class of the EnduranceLife Devon off road tri - the MTBing was superb!
500m swim (500m run down hill to sea from start then back up to the bike), 9ish mile very technical MTB ride, 4ish mile coast run.
Splendid!0 -

Timmo - forgot to say, your bike is looking great! SIDs too - nice!
Any race experts - what races do we have down this way? Is it all Newnham? Keen to do some more as is Mrs Matt - she was VERY quick on the ride section of her race - a lot of road cycling but some grim climbs and very muddy/bumpy downhills yet she managed 5.65 miles in under 21 minutes - 15.19mph average. She was the quickest rider in the whole event - just not as quick running or rowing.0 -
thats bl##dy good going for Mrs matt! very impressive times!
there is the perren tri but i dont know when it is! - helpfull i know!Timmo.

There are those trailquest things. Run by the same guys who ran the tri you did. The Cornwall ones been for this year0 -
Hi guys,
Just a quick post to introduce myself really.
I'm 23 and have been mtb'ing for about 8 months now - absolutely loving it and can't ever see me not doing it! I ride a 07 spesh hardrock pro at the moment but it's looking like i might 'have' to buy a stumpy fsr. Shocker eh.
I live in Lostwithiel and also spend quite a bit of time in Wadebridge as i work there and the gf lives there. I am going to sign up on the cornwall mtb forum soon (thanks timmo) and hopefully get out with those guys but if anyone fancies a ride partner give me a shout.
Whyte 9050 -
CB -you are onlu slightly younger than my sister who also went to Wadebridge School (as did I and my "middle" sister). We MUST know some of the same people?!
Welcome! Where do you tend to ride? Done a bit around Hustyn Woods which is fun.
Timmo - where are all the regulars? Seen Helen on here fairly recently but pretty much no one else.
Are we still too slow for Dazza ( ), has Rich left us now he's bust his arm and has everyone else apart from Mark and Kyle gone?!0 -
Matt
Most races in this area are Newnham. There was an adventure race at Tehidy last year (Oct I think).
Newnham 60 is coming up as is the 24/12.
Otherwise, you'll need to do real triathlons
btw, I'm still not sure Dazzza has replaced his bike.
I went out with Steve about a month or so back (after meeting him at Soggy)
Helen has been doing a bit of road riding (with One & Alll) and still doing some mtb.
Most of the club have migrated to the club site.
KernowCB
If you are up for a ride anytime, just post on here / club site.
I am probably doing a ride Friday eve with a couple of guys I'm doing 24/12 with . . . . . if anyone fancies joining us? - Matt?Stumpjumper FSR 09/10 Pro Carbon, Genesis Vapour CX20 ('17)Carbon, Rose Xeon CW3000 '14, Raleigh R50

Evenings are always tricky with the boy being around.
Still not keen on "real "triathlons - all that lycra and road bikery...Not a tarmac or pool fan.
Couldn't do the Tehidy one due to having the baby (well Mrs Matt did anyway) just before it but hope to do it this year.
24/12 is just too long - not prepared to spend that long at an event! Prefer short and sharp stuff if possible. Soggy Bottoms are ideal if I can finally make one.0 -
Matt
Fancy a ride Tuesday daytime next week?
You'll have to be gentle as I'm doing a 100 miler on the Monday.Stumpjumper FSR 09/10 Pro Carbon, Genesis Vapour CX20 ('17)Carbon, Rose Xeon CW3000 '14, Raleigh R50

Not yet mark, i will be in a couple months time but i've got to sort out my riding, i've a bit of catching up to do, been hitting the gym hard to up from 193lbs to 220lb, going to try and drop weight without losing what i've gained in the past few months. The trouble with having an open mind, of course, is that people will insist on coming along and trying to put things in it.

Riko - just internetted it and found out about it - done a 10k coast run (St Just) and that tri with them now:
The tri series is the TrailX one.

Matt & Dazzza - calm down kids. Lets just talk about riding. mmm better shut up before I get accused of being a roadie. 8)
Matt - Bissoe is probably the best bet for Tuesday - unless you fancy going to Bodmin.

Dazza - just spotted your post.
What you lookin' to get?
Why do you want to put on weight? Won't exactly make you the most nimble on a bike.Stumpjumper FSR 09/10 Pro Carbon, Genesis Vapour CX20 ('17)Carbon, Rose Xeon CW3000 '14, Raleigh R50

Don't worry mark far as im concerned it's all in the past.
No not yet, hopefully a couple months from now depending on other factors, i was going for a titus racer x but it's silly expensive and warranty would be a hassle.
I was thinking a giant anthem x but i feel that would be too light for my build so decided on a commencal speed 4, great climber with good traction, my tomac would spin on occasions but this shouldn't be anywhere near as bad.
No you misunderstand, i was gaining in the gym, but now im focused more on cardio so will drop weight, i just want to try and keep what i gained if that makes sense. :?The trouble with having an open mind, of course, is that people will insist on coming along and trying to put things in it.
