Has anyone used Bike Chain/Ricci for servicing. I've got wheel service/repair requirements.

Bought a couple of bits from them and really not impressed. Scott also had a rear mech very badly fitted there.

I'd got to CM or Bike Barn.
  • shane got quite a bit of abuse too if i remember over some parts he wanted for bits he had bought from the net! iirc it was from ricci himself!
that said, i do uese them on the odd occasion as they do carry a lot of spares etc (got a spoke from them to fix my wheel!) but anything majotr comes via the bike barn! although as of this weekend they will be a mechanic down for the week, still worth a shout! daryl is the one for deals on most the kit, Roj is getting better though!

used to a while back, there not cheap now though from what i heard a while back,
whats up with the wheel matey??
most things can be learned quite easily via the sheldon brown website and park tools site(nicklouse sig links!!)

Got a dent in the rim thats putting the wheel off true. I'm happy to do anything else on the bike (though mostly break it), but wheel truing is out of my range at the moment.

  • hahah!i'd sugest if your going to take it offroading proper style that you load up an equiv weight and a couple of bottle of cheap lemonade so yo can see how shaken up the littluns get!!

At least mine would never be subjected to any fast downhills...
  • hahah! where's the fun in that!! especially the moment whenyou suddenly remember the extra 30 odd lb pushing you down hill and that it has no brakes of its own either!
got some good accidental sideways ness out of ours! :D:D

    Got an Adventure ST3 http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Mode ... elID=20683

By chariot trailer, did you mean in the style of Boudicca, with scythes on the wheels.

You can have a test drive if you want. You can borrow a child to put in it too.

just been out for a slippy slidy tehidy ride, usual 3 loops but a lot more fun due to the grip no grip, even less grip and grips back style riding! good to get out after hjaving a bad weekend and nice to get Gagled in mud again!! last weeks Dry Fly around there was A Lot of fun but lacked the mud to show for it!

Timmo - they are good but not cheap unfortunately :(

My morning ride wasd stupidly wet - massive puddles, the ford was so full I nearly got off the bike and loads of branches down too.

In fact I'm going to check our boat now to make sure it hasn't sunk!

Kyle - I'm planning to attach my brushcutter to one - with the evil blade fitted...

Test went well. The trailer seems good. Didn't die, which is always nice.

Nice idea on the brush cutter Matt.

just back from a good fun blast around tehidy!
dropped the littlun off at preschool in the trailer and left it in the pushchair shed and aimed for the woods! Slip slidy fun baby! got back intime to pick her up head to toe in mud! great fun though, 2 loops of the three main tracks pushing it a little more ont he second run through, had to take the glasses off though as they made it a little tricky riding through a fog hahah!
was also the last run out for these wheels before the new ones arrive next week, had a LOT of pinging from the back!! oooops! but they have served me 5 years of abuse well! shall be infor a proper strip down and rebuild i think for the old f/s bike when i finish that!!

hope you all have a good weekend!!!

I think it's just a case of bike envy at the moment.

Could have the chance of another bike on CTW scheme, so can't help browsing.

The Cube is a great bike & good value, but as discussed on a thread somewhere on here, it ain't going to make that much difference compared to what I've got.

I also can't get a proper test ride of one - where as I know 2 possible places to get a test of the Rush.

The Rush looks amazing and it is fooking light.

cycle to work is a good way to get a greta bike at a great price! i keep pestering the wife to allow me to use the offer they have at the hospitasl but she keeps refusing hahah!
i keep dribbling over the lapierre's and cube at the bike barn every time i pop in,

bikes are a bit like cars i suppose and that it may look great on paper but to drive/ride it could be completely wrong for you! (had a focus c-max on hire recently, looked a good tool as such but my god was it Really uncomfy, thrashy, rattly, thirsty etc! not a patch on our lil fiat for comfort etc.!)

i just have to drool over new bikes cause there's no way in hell i'm going to be getting one hahahah!

happy boy today! My sid's arrived and have been playing all avo, fitting and tidying the bike up! Very pleased!
think the bike's pretty much finished now as far as parts are concerned, and all bought on a tiny budget! 8)
    so the finished article!
    Finished1k.jpg

chuffed to bits at the mo as the bike is exactly how i wanted it when i bought the frame, tomorow will be the forks test! but have already tried out the wheels and very pleased with them! makes it a lot quicker of the mark and rolls lovely!

does mean that all the old parts can go on the old bike too! and means all i need now are the shifters and mech's and a front brake and that'll be that one rideable too!
    Wahooo!
    happy happy boy today!

Oh and bought two roof mounts things for the roofrack (Thule jobs) - most impressed!

Looks like a great week Matt. Which Thule roofracks and how much? Looking to get some to replace ours

The roofrack itself was about £100 (specific fit for the roof rails - yours will be easy to get the right "feet" for) and the bike mounts/racks were almost half price at Halfords - £75 each. They are 591 Pro somethings - basically they work and are nice and swoopy so look sort of cool.
