  • glad you found them matey! there are some good runs in there! its nice to be able to go out for an hour and have a good ride with a mixture of all styles!

you can really hammer the single track in the lower woods too especially when its hard underfoot! and the top section of ST (the one about a mile long) gets Really fast on hard ground! technical but fast!

  • Matt, Levy was far from proper but on the sets there was an occasional shoulder high wave.If there had been anyone else in i'd have just kept driving but it was so clean.I'll seek solitude way before quality these days.
Timmo, it was a great morning.I was just hacking along keeping my eyes open till i got to the wooden bridge on the straight section and crossed it then headed up and noticed a few jumps. There is so much variation.I can see it being a favourite spot.Does it get busy at all? It was lovely and quiet today.
With regards to Idless,i'm aware of the quick trail that drops off right that has a few jumps and the one that leads back down to the car park, but are the any more i should know about?I'd have liked to come along Sunday and explored but i'm busy with family.
  • no tehidy rarely gets busy! in the past six months i htink i have seen less than a dozen people in the lower section! most stick to the pond and cafe area and the top section in from east lodge! so that bits good! occasionally you'll see a dog walker up the top or some runners but the normal cherry hello and smiles exchanged and thats it!

yeah there are quite a few trails in iddless! the route that takes you up through the woods to the top track and then brings you down some ST into the carpark, there is a very good DH section with good berms etc in there, a load of other smaller route's that give a good fast run down to the fireroad, there is a good couple of hours of play time in there i'd say (normally with stops and regroups were looking at 2 1/2 - 3 hours as a group), it can get Really REally muddy especially if youve done a couple of loops around the top and down, but does make a lot more fun! there are a few routes that are up around the left side of thwe woods as you drive up into the woods that we have done a couple of times, i think as you go through the left side carpark you can see a path that takes you up on the right, that should take you all the way up to the top corner and then its some ST all the way down!
the Night ride guys and matt, kyle etc. (although i thinks they do some of the night rides now too) are the ones to ask as they are up there quite a lot!

cant yo uconvinve the family to go for a nice walk around the woods on sunday am!

Badlander - just surfed PP and it was rather fun!

Slamiroy was in - I competed against him once (he won!) - he's improved over the years, I seem to have stayed the same - doh!

Idless has some great tracks - jumps, berms and all sorts. Best to just explore but if you come to a ride you'll see it all. I'd say Kyle is the real Idless expert though, even though I go there a lot. It does get very muddy but at the moment it's nice and semi dry!
  • Yeah i checked it at low.....crap but high tide looked much better....today was earmarked for riding.....hopfully tomorrow is aswell.I should probably have a proper look around idless then as it sounds like there is much i havn't discovered.

Here's a very very brief tongue in cheek vid of todays ride.http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=wbdrZfbsTKQ

    Nice vid!

This damn surfing is getting in the way of riding...:lol::lol:
  • Had another blast round Tehidy today with the dog this time (parked on the north coast car park) and avoided the lakes.Bit muddier today and pretty slippery in parts but still great fun....until i clipped a tree with my bars and hit the next tree.Pretty sturdy those buggers.Broke my chain gaurd and bent my seat clamp and bent a cable on the shiter....all good though!
No way to make Idless tomorrow, indoor play areas look like my most likely destination but i'm cleared for Poldice the following week.I'll look into whats required to tag along with you guys.
  • yeah them tree's are not so forgiving! i still have the pain in my lower back from when i crashed on the middle section of the first DH track! over riding abilities, bomb fole section a bit too quick, fired into the bank, bike went underneath me and i went into the tree back first!
still see the tree i did it on and smile when i pass! hahah!

atleast broken bits = upgrades! 8)

all you need for riding with us lot is a lid!
possibly a mate of mine might make it out for his forst venture with us for bissoe too! if he's fitted his chain to his jump bike that is hahah!

Fun ride up this way with Kyle today.

Far too muddy considering how dry it's been but still fun. Couple of nasty ascents were good for a bit of speedy heartbeat action!
  • The Bissoe ride.....is it the Poldice Valley trails or a longer loop route?....I only have a full face lid which is doable for down hill runs but any distance gets a little hot.I'll have to see if i can get a vented cycle helmet.........the list of things i need/want is seemingly endless!
  • its a whole mixture, a bit of a play on the way down through and then make our way up to the downhill run via some more playing, normally down to mars etc. and have been known for a quick shoot down to the cafe,

  • Badlander - If your interested I'm probably going to go to Idless for a cheeky lunchtime ride tomorrow.

Matt/Anyone else interested in an evening ride this week. Wednesday is probably best for me.

All of this is assuming I don't have to put the big gloves on to play "catch the newborn"

This week in pretty cr4p for me.

Meetings in Taunton all day Wednesday.
Meetings all day Friday (In London - leaving Thursday by train) and generally very busy.

...pretending to be a grown up.

Mildly inconvenient for your riding schedule Kyle but do hope poor Maddy drops this week for her sake!

Mark - I have to admit that I probably won't.
While fully up for it, I'm doing SO much travelling this week (6 hours Wed, 5 hours Thurs and 6 hours Friday) that I think I'd rather remain at home this weekend.

    Annoying but think I'll live!

Managed a PB for my 7km trail running route (like the one we did but extended) this weekend so not letting the fitness slip much.

    Summary of tonight's ride:

    11.54 miles
    9.2mph average speed
    1hr 15 min of riding

I reckon that's a pretty good pace for a night ride.

    It was very very muddy.

I think Kyle will agree that we managed to push each other throughout the ride. A great warm up for the weekend.

Mark - oddly enough that's almost exactly the same figures (I have a bike computer now) as our night ride a while back!

Shame it's gone super wet again. Got a total soaking this morning when riding.

We may have pushed each other during the ride, but Mark definitely has way more stamina than me. He wasn't crying at the end of the ride. I was!!!

    Good luck on Sunday Mark
