Hope you enjoyed the ride Sun, I did get up at 7 to walk the dogs but couldnt face a ride in the cold...went later thinking it might be warmer...silly me..

I hope it gets warmer soon..

It was a great ride. Although cold, the conditions were perfect. Did around 49 miles.

Anyone up for a night ride this week, preferably round 8ish?
I was hoping to get out Thursday night, but I really wanted to go out straight after work (maybe 6pm in Truro????)

I'm off cycling while it's freezing.

Not risking an ice slippage - annoying so running daily instead!

6pm is good. Fancy a blast round Idless? Meet at the Volvo garage? Only problem is if Mads decides to give birth

  • kyle, that made me smile! all the best for the impending littlun!!

Matt, made tehidy interesting yesterday! the rain over the two previous days had made it Grippy but of line very slippy and fun! mind you, certainly noticed the cold on the thighs!

Timmo - not worried off road but a load of my morning ride is on the road and often slippery (near the fords behind Treliske). Don't mind slipping over off road but it gets a bit hairy on it!

Did a 7km trail run yesterday and a 5km one today to make up for it! Even running was mildly tricky in the frost and ice!

    Would rather ride though.
  • that i can understand matey! is a lot nocer to fall offraod! although at the mo either is pretty hard!!!
mind you , does do good for the reactions and keeping you alert!

I'm the one stood up - the other bloke is considering dropping in on me but decided it wasn't a good idea...

Plus he's wearing a hood so is clearly a poof

It's the duckdiving and the changing afterwards that really do chill the bones!
  • Nice pic Matt. You getting the ceramic mug with it on.

Mads is very keen to get Junior 2 out. Only problem then is what to name it. And the next 18 or so years of pain and suffering
  • Hi there....New to the board but live in Porthtowan.Mrs got me a bike for chrimbo to keep fit for my other sports namely spearfishing and surfing.Looks like they may suffer however 'cause i'm having a blast on the bike.Had a few sniffs round tehidy and idless with the dog and had two very chilly sessions at Poldice today which was great fun.Nearly lost my dog when he fell through the ice though but it all ended well.Other than that we've got a little loop up to Aggie beacon and back which is proving fun.
Will no doubt encounter some of you at some point.

Badlander - what do you look like?! I surf PT a lot.

Kyle - got better pics than that - my avatar and this one are okay:

    matt-4.jpg

Going to wait until it warms up a bit before I get riding again. Anything above zero will do!
  • that is a cool pic matt!!! i have somehting similar but with me and brother in the boat giving it beans in the winter! (sailing) never tire of pics like yours though!

-6 this morning when i went out to fire the car up prior to taking th ewife to college!
stopped at Macsalvers on the way home (via chaved up corsa crashing into the side of a taxi! ooooops!) to get some thermal legs! i think they might be needed!!!

Timmo - cheers! Got a few others too but won't bore you all.

Just took this shot of the frosty morning from outside our gaff. Very chilly hands now!

I've surfed PT for over 20 years but these days it's too busy for me.I usually spend most of the year spearfishing and try to pick and choose the days i surf (also down to chronic surfers ear and drill fear)

Just loving the biking right now.

Badlander - what a shame! Mind you the banks at PT and CP are currently utter cr4p. Better further up (or down) the coast.

TBH I do get pi55ed off with surfing quite often - so rare that the conditions are right unlike MTBing where you can go out in almost anything and have fun. I used to rep for Rip Curl just before they turned into AdidasNikeUmbro - fun but lots of driving!

I'm sure I'll see you on a ride or in the sea sometime.
  • just had a Really good fun blast around Tehidy with Mrs Simpkins (the Rach of Rich and Rach  !), the frost of the past couple of days has done wonders! Super hard for the most of it and remarkably fast! and was Really good to have some company too! quite nice to have a chatter as you ride!

Ripped the 4rse right out of my over trousers on the saddle though! haha! some sewing for me later!

Bet that carbon is cold on your ar5e!

Finally got a proper helmet mount for my torch sorted (i.e. bought the right size jubilee clip rather than bodging it with gaffa tape!) so that's rather handy.

Meetings in Taunton and London next week which isn't so handy.
  • haha! tbh matt, i didnt notice as had thermal leggins on, my longs and over trousers until i ripped the backside out! (all fixed now! quite handy with a sewing machine now! haha!)
Rach did take a pic and upload it to her facebook in tehidy carpark whilst shaking her head in the your mental manor! :D

are you going to be able to make idless this sunday??

  • Wanted to get up to Tehidy today but alas it wasn't to be,However, after saying how little i surf i ended up going for a surf! Really small but really clean Levy all by myself (for a while before the kids on lids invasion).Pleasant if not a little chilly.
Ordered a full face helmet and some knee/shin pads for more confidence over at Poldice, hopefully they'll arrive early tomorrow so i can get over there for a ride.....that's the plan anyway but i have an unlucky history with so-called 24hr delivery! If not then Tehidy sounds like a good option.Looks like the mud will be returning Sunday onwards.
  • After a brilliant run down by Timmo regarding Tehidy i went there instead of Poldice.....and had a total ball! Thanks mate, found the trails with little problem and really enjoyed them.Just worked on the jumps in stages all the way down and then had a couple of top to bottom runs, mainly on the run with the jump through the trees with the berm to the side.Really loved it.It's got a little soft with a bit of muddiness in these warmer temps but not a great deal.

    Timmo - nice one!

Badlander - was Levy working?! Might venture out and have a look myself.

Did my usual 10 miler this morning for the first time in ages and didn't die in an ice slippage incident - which was handy. Very nice to get out again!
