  • no worries mark!
my mtb is about 24lb surely your road beast is lighter than that?? or is it that you bought a heavier one on purpose to make you ride Even faster on the mtb!!!

    PICT59791000.jpg

the reason its so light, just a bare shell saddle! no creature comforts!!
    PICT59781000.jpg

And a gratuitous Carbon shot! 8)
    PICT59811000.jpg

will fit it some time this avo or tomorow maybe, but quite like having it on the desk here!!! should look great on the bike! and apparently should be remarkably comfy! will find out ifg i get out this weekend!!!!

Narrr, it don't look that comfy.

    Looks really really smart though.

I reckon your bike must be a little less than 24lb.

Got no details on how heavy the road bike is. It's a standard Allez Elite

I know the MTB is around 30lb (or more) + one great big fat oaf!!

  • i'm willing to bet you weigh a good stone+ less than me though mark! your a comparitive Racing snake stood next to me and my belly!

weight wise, my forks are a good 4lb and the wheels arnt all that light (slightly heavier than the std. mavic crossride disc) but they are the only bits left to upgrade lol! would love some spinner aeris pro's at 2.4lb and some crank bro wheels to drop the weight closer to 20lb but will take some serious saving lol! new forks some time next year maybe! 8) (anything 3lb or under will do! :D )

cant comment on comfort yet! its still in the box lol! killed my self off with the toddler group christmas party and walking down for the veg box this avo!! so maybe tomorow and then a ride on sunday?? see how the throat feels! but it has been alleged that its comfy due to the flex of the carbon, but we shall wait and see!
could have a Proper case of 'Monkey But' next week!

    Looks like something from Batman!
  • made it out yesterday for an hour, saddle isnt too half bad, bit of a aching on the butt cheeks today but not as mucgh as i though!!!

tehidy was very busy yesterday! but to be expected on such a cracking day! and they had an orienteering event on too! but i didnt make it out till 11 so an hour and half later than normal!

But! for those that came on my ride and used the path from Gwell An More down to portreathm they have finished the base layer of the bridleway and effectively ruined the path as was! all the stoney bits have gone and the drops gone too but My word its Fast! (i started braking at 24mph incase the drop was still there!) shame though as it's lost its charachter now!

doesnt look like i'll be out next week as the littluns playing an angel in the nativity at church so i figured i ought to go along for that! not that she'll actually leave either of the wife and i to go up pn stage but got to show willing!

Veterans race for me . . . . see if I can make top 10.

Frightening thing at the moment is that I seem to be turning into a roadie . . . . . instead of going to Dunmere this weekend, I'm off on a road ride from Bissoe.

Cheeky lunchtime ride with Kyle at Idless just now.

Also did my 10 miler (Idless ride was about 14-15 miles in total) - I am FECKED now!

Got comically muddy but lots of fun.
  • i'm hoping to get out around tehidy on thursday morning providing i have cleaned the house loL! Mothers coming down! am guessing after the weather we've had it'll be nice and slippery!

new saddle is goign well too! backside is finding it quite comfy at the mo! although, the un expected bumps etc. do cause a bit of an Ooooh moment! hahah!

Timmo - it's VERY muddy out there!

This was my first real test (i.e. got plastered in mud!) of all my new stuff and it all works a treat.

Have you got a Batman outfit to go with your saddle.

Kyle and I had a fun ride of blaming all our kit for every mistake...:lol:
  • haha! nobut my bright blue jacket from my mbr sub has finally arrived! and i've some over trousres on the way lol! so will prolly look more power ranger than batman! haha!

so all the new bits working well then! ideal! an old sailing analagy refers quite well for me and the bike,
'it's the nut at the end of the tiller that's the problem' haha!

I also blamed the 'wrong kind of leaves'. Very British Rail. Unfortunately my new bottom bracket arrived today, so I will have no kit excuses now.

I've just worked out where you are going wrong Tim. You need handlebars, not a tiller

Kyle - despite you thinking my bike wasn't too muddy, it took flipping ages to clean it - those leaves would NOT be washed away from the front mech for some reason.

Oh and I ended up jetwashing my own shoes and legs!

That landing will haunt me for some time - can't believe nothing broke!

  • Tehidy was Greta fun on thursday! super slippy but just had one of those memorable rides for the right reasons! had a nice pedal around the valley too taking in a rear hanger swap as the gears were all to pot! seemed to sort ti so all good! dropped in on the bike barn and ordered a new tyre too! and then blasted the last couple of bridleways to get even muddier ahahha! really good ride!

  • has been very quiet! possible something to do with everyone around here emptying the supermarket for the impending two days of closures! haha! anyone would think its closed for a month the way they have been here!!

does look like i will be out of action until the middle of jan at the earliest though! :( freewheel has gone t#ts up (atleast one if not more of the pawls has stopped engaging after a period of freewheeling leaving you pedeling like your chains gone until it catches!!) and need new gear cables as my outers have died and killed th einners now!
C'est la Vive as they say!

anyways, hope you all have a great Christmas and find your stockings full of shiny bike bits!!!

Sorry to hear your woes Timmo. Sounds like a good reason for a 'carbon' wheel.

  • hahah! i'd love a set mark! but sadly any of the ones i could afford (with a Lot of saving) are quite heavy! so will stick to a replacemtn freehub at £15 lol! thats a bit more within my range!
Carbon rims on a carbon bike would be Uber Pimp though! 8)

Mark - surfs currently good so knackering myself out in the sea at the moment!

Still been doing the 10 miles a day (plus more at weekends) and going as quickly as possible. Not exactly hardcore training but it should help I hope!

    Have a great Christmas all!
  • Yeah, Merry Christmas everyone :D
  • So who got shiny bike things for Christmas?

I got a set of Ayup lights, so I am smug and I'm looking for people to go night riding with. Be gentle with me.
