Good to see you all - first ride with the club for ages! Plastered in mud despite the mudguards!
Kyle you are far too quick for someone that "doesn't cycle much!"
See you all again soon.0 -
a return to Bissoe this coming sunday for some fun!!
typical, i get the use of the car for the day and end up with a ride in riding distance hahah!Timmo.

Honest mate. Hadn't been out for 4 weeks.0 -
I believe you Kyle - just amazed!
Git.
Anyone doing any of the Soggy Bottom races? Think I might enter the Nov one either in Sport or Masters (I'm old enough!!) category - which is easier?!0 -
I want to, but still a bit bit concerned about the ribs while racing.
I've only done 3 rides since I go back from holiday (50miles in total). Each one has felt better than the last, but you do tend to put a little more effort in when racing.Stumpjumper FSR 09/10 Pro Carbon, Genesis Vapour CX20 ('17)Carbon, Rose Xeon CW3000 '14, Raleigh R50

Timmo - you don't half put yourself down! You are decently quicker than me downhill and very rarely anything more than a tiny way behind on uphills - and for some reason some people think I'm fast! I reckon you are a lot better than you think you are.0

When on Thursday were you thinking of riding? And where?0 -
Timmo,
there ain't nothing slow about your riding - FACT

blackrat, not set time matey, will be illogan start and finish, out to tehidy, few routes in there, down to portreath on a short blast, along the tramway to scorrier, up to radnor, Bridleway to Cambrose, out to the main road, up the back of the track down a bridleway, back tot he raod, up the first hill into Illogan from the portreath road, then down a nice new section i found today, along and up the valley into the village and back to the start point, its about 17ish miles, 4 or so on road the rest, trails, ST or bridleway!
will post up full details and a route map after the weekends ride!
be great to have some company and to get an idea of thoughts!
Nige, matt, thanks guys, i'm alright unless its going Uphill!! but still have a way to go imo!Timmo.

If I can get someone to pick the boy up from school I could prob make it if you're thinking of a morning ride. Would be travelling time from St Austell once I drop the missus off at work about 9.30, so prob 10.15ish start. Would that suit? Let me know and I'll try to arrange it.

Nick, thats fine matey! drop me a Pm with your email and i'll sort you some directions! (used to live in St.a and do the trip quite often!! )Timmo.

I did a 12 mile night ride last night instead - very wet and great until I got a double puncture near the end. Fixed it and the tyre valve core snapped off - ARRGHH!!!
Still fun. This morning's ride was unbelievably wet!0 -
Timmo,
glad you liked the ride, the weather almost remained dry, but no matter.
Matt,
Tubeless, you know it makes sense.... (with some sealant of course)
Nige0 -
Bowcaps - I did consider tubeless but none of my favourite tyres are fully convertable and this is only the 2nd time I've had a puncture (or in fact two at once) in 5 months of riding on the current rubber. Still under consideration of course!0

Some details for this Sundays ride! (16th)
Starting in Illogan at Homecroft Surgery (TR16 4ET), will head a mile up the road to tehidy where we'll use some of the old Xc loop, some single track a few cut out routes about an hour ish, then heading back out the woods up the east drive out through the carpark via some slippy single track and out over the top then on a nice fast bridleway into portreath, a gentle cruise along the mineral tramway to scorrier (possibly stopping at the Bike Barn for a cuppa and an oggle at some cube's and Lapierre's! depending on the concensus of the group) and onto radnor aiming for Wheel peevor, then onto a couple of sections of bridleway (muddy, stony, stinging nettly & brambly) bringing us out at Cambrose, then a short ride along the road aiming up behind 'The Track' and onto a nice short bridleway, then another short road climb back towards illogan before heading off on a fast section of bridleway into the small bridge valley hamlet along a couple of small lanes and up through some great track and small cut path back into the village before a 30 second pedal back to the carpark!
all in should be around 18 miles of which 4ish will be on road the rest, track, bridleway, ST etc!
Should be good fun! i hope! haha!
route will be ridden in a clockwise direction starting from homecroft,
if anyone requires directions, let me know where your coming from and i'll email them too you!Timmo.

what category you doin?
I've done nearly 40 miles on the turbo trainer in last few days. No chest probs - so there's a fair chance I'll be popping along to Soggy.Stumpjumper FSR 09/10 Pro Carbon, Genesis Vapour CX20 ('17)Carbon, Rose Xeon CW3000 '14, Raleigh R50

Mark - I'm afraid I'm going for the "gay" option and doing the "Fun" category.
Thought about Sport but I might end up looking a complete muppet!
See you there if your chest behaves?0 -
You'll do very well in the fun category.
Another 15 miles on the turbo tonight & no probs . . . .Stumpjumper FSR 09/10 Pro Carbon, Genesis Vapour CX20 ('17)Carbon, Rose Xeon CW3000 '14, Raleigh R50

I suppose it depends on if you've raced before, how old and how good you are.
Fun is 3 laps (around 9-10miles total), whereas Veterans is 4 (12-13miles).
Fun is still competitive and it's surprising just howgood 'veterans' can be.
Most of all, you need to enjoy it. Oh and if you can talk within 3 mins of finishing, you just weren't trying hard enough!Stumpjumper FSR 09/10 Pro Carbon, Genesis Vapour CX20 ('17)Carbon, Rose Xeon CW3000 '14, Raleigh R50
