    Dazza,

are you sure it's the post and not the rails on the seat itself, I ended up changing one a while back as the rails had worn in the seat mounts and caused some annoying squeaking.

    alls welcome

Dazza hope you managed to sort your bike out and enjoy the sun...

I'm off to Manchester on Wednesday.

Think my bike will need a little TLC after tomorrow's ride. Just given it a once over before tomorrow. Looks like I need a new bush on the rear suspension.

Brand new seat bud, did the same with my old bel air, new one is a charge spoon, i will however be greasing the living hell out of it tomorrow to rule out any aspect of it being the saddle, i did slap a load of purple extreme, it made chuff all difference.

From what i could feel it's coming from inside where the post sits, i think it's just old age getting the better of it.

fsr- have a look at betd, they do a few spec goodies especially the fsr.

    http://www.betd.co.uk/

Already replaced the swingarm bearings and greased up all the linkages, ive had this for a few weeks now and it's gradually getting worse, time to replace the thing.
The trouble with having an open mind, of course, is that people will insist on coming along and trying to put things in it.

Sussed out the squeeeeek, it's 100% undeniably the seatpost, it's from the head tube that sits inside the main seatpost tube, we clamped this area and it shut right up.

Got a bargain thomson elite layback coming from ebay for £40 to help console my loss. ;)

Haha no but this is an unsual size, seems the tomac doesn't use the standard 27.2mm post but rather a whopping 31.6mm i found a thomson at this diameter, 367mm length again right and in a layback.

There is another being bidded on but it'll come close to what i paid for this one anyway, it's nearly new, just didn't fit his bike so is selling it on, bonus for me. :)

No problems with the post slipping tim, is it carbon i take it?

You'll love my new handlebars they're carbon nanotube monkeybars, lightened up the front end lovely.

Bit of an odd day for me helen, no biking but i ran on the treadmill very easily, this weightloss certainly has it's bonuses. ;)

Oh and did 60 minutes on the bike, and 20 on the cross trainer.

Why can't i just keep it short n sweet.

    Mark (FSR XC),

I hope you are recovering well after your off today, no doubt the scrapes and bruises will smart a little in a hot shower, look on the bright side no broken bones.

I have posted sme pics on Facebook of the ride today.

  • Dazz, yeah is carbon matey! no slipping either which is good! but i have it in a shim aas figured i'd get a post to fit my old FS frame as well! otherwise it would be a 31.6 like yours!

i've got fsa K-force bars up front too and they are Lovely! does make a nice difference over alloy ones thats for sure! takes the little buzz's out!

Great Pics Nige! certainly looked muddy!!!!

Good, should it decide to slip you can get stuff from ricci's to reduce it.

Does look like a good ride, mark does look like he got a hammering though.

Only downside to my bars is the things look nothing like carbon, but it has sexy cnt decals to make up for it. ;)

Im thinking of getting a non qr seatclamp, partly for the paltry 30gm saving but also the security aspect and i rarely fiddle with the clamp anyway.

Loads of good rides yesterday and a fair few today - but in the sea!

Mark - have you had a crash?

Dazza I think you could have a £10k bike and still find things that needs upgrading/changing...
  • looked great at portreath over the weekend Matt, Friday was beter, Saturday good and today alright but not as good,

Timmo - Saturday was Gwithian (wind was SSWerly to too cross shore for PT) and it was absolutely firing! Today was further up towards Godrevy - better wind direction but swell didn't have the same punch as yesterday. Still fun though!

PT was a bit closey all weekend - and was downright nutty yesterday (went there after surfing) - big, a bit messy and nasty! Gwithian was full of perfectly groomed barrelling waves and the size of the beach spreads out any crowds too!

Back to cycling - swapped my non QR (Specialized) for a QR (Hope) binder - total weight difference? 7 grammes! Plus the Hope looks nicer... Now I have lights on it for morning rides, it's put on a bit more weight but more weight = more fitness.

Can't see the pics on facebook. I haven't bothered signing up.

Shower was fine. Ribs are effin' sore. Went down the beach after I got cleaned up. Salt water helped seal the wounds a bit - was blinkin' cold in the sea in just shorts!!!!

Matt - yep. I was catching John on a DH road section. Coming round a corner, he fell off. Stupid me decided to try and avoid running over him. Just checked the Garmin - 29mph when he fell off in from of me.
Landed with my elbow in my ribs.

I think I'll be very sore tomorrow!

Looks very muddy in the FB pics!

Mark - ouch! Another reason I'm a gayer on downhills - injuries are not an option right now (having said that, did some crazy stuff in the surf this weekend - but no injuries!)!

29mph is a hell of a pace to crash at!

    Matt
    This was on the road.

Looking at the Garmin data it looks like I slowed to 20mph before hitting the deck.

Not seen any pics of the injuries, but I know some were taken. It's only a few cuts though.

having checked my GPS, Mark (ride leader) Andy H and myself all traveled down the hill at around 42km/h , but we had about 10m distance between us, just "in case". I know it doesn't help now, but it may be an idea for future rides to have some guidelines when negotiating twisty wet tarmac with muddy MTB tyres?

I know when we take out students, it's 3 - 4m on the flat and 10m when decending off road, but obviously we keep there speed down when on the road.

Interested to hear riders thoughts on distance spacing on / off road.

  • Dont think i will be able to make this sundays ride in Bodmin (minions), looking at the details i think ts going to be too much for me physically again, so looks like i'll be pottering around here on my todd again!

    Timmo,

as I remeber there is very little humour, it's just constant "p**s taking" usually out of Andy, oh perhaps that's the humour after all....

Sorry we'll miss you this weekend, I though I would be away, but as it turns out I may actually be able to make it so we'll spare a thought for you.

    Helen / Jane

Great ride last night, all the puddles on the way back made the bike real easy to clean, just need to get iiit muddy again now, as I'm starting to like it more when it's muddy rather than clean - does that mean I have a problem?

I hope Jane got off to work OK and she doesn't work too hard drinking tea and spinning dits all day :D

I'm off to walk my boys...

    Nige.
  • haha! yeah thats is Nige!
    allways makes it entertaining! haha!
hoping to get out for a spin today but think i may head back to bed Drekly instead!!

Volvo garage being idless i take it, should be a good test for the mud x tyres.

Bike is now pretty much sorted, no more squeak, part of it was also the swingarm.
