I should be working, but then looking at my order values the past month, I realise I should be working a hell of a lot more!.... :(

Its not that Im biking, Im doing the next best thing which is surfing the net talking about it and looking at things I cant afford about it.

Maybe I should setup an online bike-shop?.... that would solve a few issues.

Just watched. Nice...I dont do drops like that! I could probably ride down the hill itself but not the drop heh

Watched the Begebury ones after. ROFL at the stuck single see saw being up, wtf was going on there! The last time I did the first raised bit of NS it was wet and I wheel spun by the tree at the end and had to abort off the bike, luckily the tree was there! Ive only done the 2nd raised bit twice and never again as the ramp to flat is such a violent angle its ridiculous!

What camera are you running, colours are nice but its even more jerky than my vholdr although thats useless in anything remotely shady or dark. Ive got loads of videos from it to upload actually, I have some quite complex deshaking video filter software ive run on it which may be useful for you as well if interested

May only have been half a mm but every bit counts so women say :D

Just found one of my videos I had uploaded, right click and save as, its about 35megs. The weird stuff on the edges is the sacrifice for running a blending/de shaking filter on it to get rid of the jerking. Sound is useless and the colours are bad, ok in direct sunlight but not under trees! Im the slow camera rider...

Will sort the SW out for you

Thats not so silly...I have a Casio exilm something or others, tiny 7mpix thing but records video identically to the vholdr, ie 640x480 30fps xvid and I mounted it on the bike using the roll cage clamp I use in my competition car and the quality is staggerinly better, colours great, NO shaking as it has antishake built in and thats a digital camera in its kinda freebe addon video mode and it was only £150 about 1.5 years ago, the vholdr (which i got work to pay for!!!) was £300 and far worse!

Think I had a video of my camera on the bike......here check this one out. Now I had compressed this so it was 1/3 the size of the original so you lose some quality but compare the colours and smoothness to my vholdr ones above. This is how it came off the camera except the compression, silky smooth!

  • liked your vids btw, where where they filmed? the trails look sweet

vholdr ones from Rotherfield and there are tons of them there :) I belong to a club and we have public liability insurance etc and a big area for ourselves with jumps and that then loads of other runs in the rest of the woods. The video from my camera is just a small local one

The software you want is Virtual dub http://www.virtualdub.org/ then this deshaker filter

I still need to check rotherfield out sometime it looks good there! Are you part of the Bull Track guys Breezer or that jab online website?

Your vholdr looks good, id like to see some uncompressed videos so that i could compare it to my sport cam bullet cam.

Nope. Alvar is the bloke that rents/owns the Bull track. He rides up Rotherfield a lot although less since he got the Bull track thats just down the road. He has a crazy staff type dog that runs when he rides, perfectly tame and its clever, havent seen it get run over yet although probably happened once in its life. If you start off on a run with Alvar at the front and the dog at the back it will bide its time and overtake when theres a suitable gap much to your annoyance lol. I think the Jab bloke builds up at the bull track

I will dig out some short clips of original and modified footage and upload in a day or two. The footage I have from Rotherfield is over 10 minutes when all merged and thats just the downhills I do....I dont do all the jumpy runs as I cant plus its all fireroad so you can have a mad XC session linking it all together. Then there is this other path about half a mile away we call the green lane. Its an old byway but due to the water is now just this rocky gulley thats about half a mile long and almost impossible to ride down. Dont think ive done it with less than 10 stops/foot downs but its my mission in life...heh

Normally 2 hours(ish) in winter. Depending on how long Andy keeps breathing  (that's jinxed me for tonight then  )

hmm light wouldnt last that long, get about 75-80 mins out of it although I suppose I could use raw skill and the tesco led torch helmet lights on fire road bits heh and the low output led backup on my bars. Managed with just that before when I had a catastrophic wiring failure (lead fell out) on a twisty downhill at bedgebury before but then i could ride that place with my eyes shut

Guys, sorry to do this short notice but i'm going to have to bail on you tonight - something has come up :(

Legless - tomorrow morning isn't too likely, Friday might be better if that suits you?

Definitely still on for doing something on Monday if there are any takers?

So, it looks like its just us 2 tonight then. That's if the new chain i have to fit tonight gets on OK with my quite worn chainring!

    See you later :D

on the bright side gives me more time at the gym to work on my stamina

would love to come for a ride with you guys after christmas when my bikes been stripped down and new brakes, forks are on 8)

How was the ride tonight guys? Once again i'm sorry i bailed out last minute. Is it muddy up there at the moment?
  • No worries Nick. Yeah surprisingly still quite muddy, concidering it hasen't rained hard since Sunday. Was a good ride, if a little short due to Ade predictably having a minor coronary after his slightely unwise comments earlyer  Naa he did much better than my first ride back after several weeks off :) It's sooo slippery at the moment though due to all the wet leaves on the ground. We spent more time going sideways than forward i think. Good fun though, and there is nothing like the buz you get when you think you are going to hit the ground verry hard for sure, then save it at the last second!

The impished jinx keeps rolling on, eh
I could really feel the effect of the last couple of weeks lack of biking. If anyone sees a lung lying around blean can you put it in a bag for me
As Andy said, the slipping and sliding was good fun though. Some like it wet, eh.... Slippery when wet, etc, etc....

Stevet1992 - That's the trouble with having a life outside of biking. From now on ignore all your friends & family. Scrap xmas / easter / bamitsva / diwali / birthdays, etc and spend all you money & time on biking. Oh, BTW, don't tell my missus I said that

Sounds like you had a good laugh anyway :)

Yeah i don't recommend a life outside biking - it's way more trouble than its worth. And it costs a fortune!

Ade you seem to live in constant fear of the missus finding out what you've said ;) You should get a nice low-maintenence missus like mine:
