Ive got a Samsung innov i850 or whatever its called, 8mpix camera, symbian 3 and almost get a week out of it although I have no friends so dont make many calls. Its even more intruiging now that I have found viewranger which even does fancy 3d landscaping on symbian but whilst I have 2 old windows mobile phones with memory map theres no need for me to buy it

On a different note One of the few good points about being single. Theres no way a woman would let you rebuild a mountain bike in the lounge whilst watching tv and farting constantly 8) far too cold to go outside and test the "repaired" forks now but in the lounge they are working as described which is a start and I had forgotton how nice decent brake levers felt :)

Awesome ride tonight guys. Thanks so much! Really really enjoyed it and felt like all my efforts over Christmas had paid off with the fitness.

Was awesome out there in the snow and ice, made it very fast but very slippery. Not looking forward to trudging through mud, which no doubt will be happening soon enough!

Will definitely be there same time next week.

On the phones front, i am a bit of a phone geek, used to work in a phone shop many years ago and i like my gadgets. The Nokia N95 8gb is hands down the best phone i have ever had. Has awesome GPS built in, which works as a sat nav and also with google maps if you are too pikey to pay the extra for the Nokia mapping service, which i am as the google maps sat nav works just fine. Plus i found a great app called Nokia Sports Tracker, it is free and basically a training diary that links to the GPS. So like tonight you can switch it on and track your route, see the pace avg and max, speed, altitude pretty much everything. Way better than the Garmin GPS unit i have. All your training sessions are stored in a diary so you can see how often you went out as well! The added bonus is you can export the tracks to google maps and hey presto see where you have been. People moan about the batteries on the Nokia smart phones. If you make loads of calls like me then it does need charging every couple of days. But it has all my music, takes good photos and the net works a treat too. Plus the GPS stuff is awesome...

Anyone been to Penshurst, there is a trail centre there called PORC apparently. £4 for the day, is it any good? or does it no longer exist, not heard it mentioned before. Tis on your doorstep Russ so thought you might know...

PORC is more a freeriding/DH centre than a trail centre, that said i still want ot check it out a least once.

Demo day maybe of the cards for me as i Forgot its the wifes birthday the day after, so seeing as shes been so good to me over the year (understatment) i may have to spend some money on her instead of the bike....... BUT i will still try.

SO whos up for BBH sunday morning....Roll call please....

Yeah i'm on for Sunday Mark - I could do with enforcing a quiet Saturday night anyway!

What time were you thinking? Am i going to be able to push you as late as 10?

I was sorely tempted by the Fowlmead races on Sunday but i think it'd be more fun if a few of us can all go together
  • Nick i will meet you half way, shall we say 09:30? :D

Might be up for joining you there then. Anyone else interested? It says you can race for 'fun' on the ad which i hope means 'it doesn't matter if you ride singletrack like a vicar'...

Sorry mate i'm working all weekend. Are you still sending that self addressed box? If you haven't sent it yet you'll have better luck sending it to my work at Jim Ingram Vending, 83 Tankeston Road, Whitstable, Kent, CT5 2AH.

I wanted to do that Fowlmead race too. The last winter warmer is on the 22nd, but i think another searies starts shortly after?

I'm happy to go for the last race of the series to get a feel for it and if we like it then go for a full series and see how we do. I'm not expecting to set the world alight based on where the quicker guys from Kent Trails placed (there must be some super quick guys riding!) but if i do it then it'll be for fun anyway

I only do the "fun" category in the Gorrick races. They are as fun as you want. Some people probably potter round slowly up the hills to enjoy the downs and twisty bits. I however end up with average heart rate over 190 and use up entire months worth of fowl language when people stop in front of me on technical bits

On a related note. Went home at lunch to potter the Turner (bike, not Andy lol) round the block and the forks seem to be working. I couldnt get them to do anything weird or wrong. Best bit is they had a bushing issue from new so felt awful, now they feel like the back of the Turner which I can only relate to be as soft as a womans jubblies 8) I had forgotton how much bite a Hope M4 has on the front especially with my new pads, must remember NOT to grab 2 fingers worth like ive been doing on the Inbred with its cheapo brakes!

To celebrate the above I then made cooked breakfast lunch lol

Not sure what classes they run in these Fowl ones but Gorrick for example last spring I placed from 9th to 22nd ish out of 80-100 in Fun ranging from 2.5 mins to 10 mins down in races lasting 60-90 minutes. I did a masters race the autumn before which was an extra lap and I was 2nd to last so thought sod it, fun for me!

  • Hey Guys,

Remember the tiny framed black Giant Acid? It has finally been replaced with something marginally more sensible in the shape of a Giant Yukon full-sus. This means I fancy coming riding on some proper stuff, rather than annoying pensioners in sunny Canterbury.

Though I have never rode at Bluebell Hill I'm sure I can find it if it's cool to come along with you. Is it off of the A229 near Maidstone? Hopefully at the top? Spotted that someone said 'the lookout' which i will assume is fairly high up.

Also a few pages back but I'm not sure where, somebody mentioned a compressor cleaning gun thing. Is it any good and where did you get it?

    Cheers

I'm suprised you could take 30 mins of MBUK!! I'd have chucked it away 5 mins in...

Why would you not be racing Russ?!

Breezer - lol. Russ is far too pretty to be any of our pit bitches ;)
