Yer I posted on that, none around here though!

I have got mine rigged up to a spare 12v car battery in my shed with some wires and a female cigarette lighter socket so I can use it to clean the bike at home after local rides as well :)

Which reminds me of a xc race I did in the spring. I was on my practise lap and this kid in one of the young classes walks over to me and says "can you refit this?" handing me his crank arm lol. You arent really supposed to have outside assistance but as he was a few miles from the finish and had already lost a load of time I fixed it for him heh

Have you checked out this ride? http://www.kent-trails.co.uk/Routes/Wye/Wye.htm

I did it with a friend a few weeks back. Short but hard going due to the steepnes of the hills. Sadly it rained a lot and my stupid friend had 4 punctures (4th was ripping the valve off my spare tube when attempting to fit!). Not to far from Ashford where him and you live and probably a train that goes to Wye station which is about 200m from the start

 im sure it wouldnt of had the same outcome if you had been on your timed lap  leave him for dead

yeh really dissapointing how its just been 6 months and the crankset has bummed out :? suppose thats what you get for a cheapish bike from halfords

looks like the 4x bike may have to wait a few more months

I can confirm there are (apparently) none in Canterbury, Margate, Dover, Folkestone, Ashford, Maidstone or Rochester. Not that i've been after one at all...

Haven't tried Tonbridge as its just a bit too far to go on a trip after work. I hear they have them in Milton Keynes so might try as i'll be over that way next week. Not holding my breath though!

Cheap stuff wears out quicker but if its been loose and not looked after or pressure washed etc in the case of bearings, that would kill it a lot quicker. If a lower price one then its probably an old style square taper? If those come loose you can bugger the taper pretty quickly. Cheaper octalink or whatever they are called ones just die full stop but thats the bearings, crank arms shouldnt fall off (although it was one of them for that kid I mentioned!) suggest cleaning it all up, checking whatever threads there are, refit with locktite and go from there

I spoke to Sittingbourne this morning who say there are 7 in Tonbridge, 1 in Maidstone and 1 in Chatham (Actually 0 in Chatham as I reserved their one!)...

The girl on the phone said I was very lucky as it was their last one I said, "Yes Im very lucky as this is my second one!"....

(The second one is a present before you start firing pelters my way!)

If for some miraculous reason there is another one there, I will get it and will offer it to the group (as its xmas)

Trying to pursuade my friend to pick me up a 2nd one heh

Nothing to do tonight so I may just fire up my dirtworker and spray the fence for 5 minutes whilst eating a bacon sarnie

Actually, the neighbours have new kittens that have been terrorising me by setting off my shed security light all the time then sitting on my patio watching me do the washing up etc in the kitchen. I think they need to be introduced to Mr Dirtworker

A dirtworker for £60? You were robbed heh. You sound unimpressed with it? Maybe you are used to normal hoses and pressure washers. The issue with them is they will kill your bearings in a few seconds and so cost tons more long term. This one isnt that powerful but its enough to shift the mud especially with a spray of muc off first and you can take it with you which is ideal

what frame did you in for, Meta 5 or 6? And how come your not running the Chris King on the new frame? I wouldn't use anything else now.
    How's selling the car going?

Whoop whoop! Just reserved my Dirtworker at Tonbridge to pick up tomorrow :D Looks like it'll be a bit of a day trip for me but i had nothing else planned apart from sleeping.

Once i join the Dirtworker crew i can look down my nose at all those with muddy bikes  Andy - you can borrow mine if your bike is going in my car!!

Ahhaaa you will have to wait and see :)

New frame has a intergrated headset so the Kingy wont fit

Car has been put on hold until new year and more people are looking for cars (i hope)

Bummer! I thought i was going mad for a minuit untill i noticed that little snippet is new for 09. Are you getting a CK integrated?

My guess is a Meta 6 after Russ's bit of bad luck with his. Ooo just noticed it has an adjustable head angle too.....i'm quite tempted now. Would mean new forks too though!
  • i cannot aford new forks so its not a meta 6...

I don't think my sanity will last the amount of time it would take to save for that frame and new forks, so will probably stick with plan a. X-Mass is a pain in the arse, i could have had a decent amount saved up by now! I'm going to start doing the lottery again  I'v even entered a competition to win a Pitch...........not holding my breath though!

Well if it's not a 6 then it's gotta be a 5, or have you thrown a complete curveball? How much did you sell the Stumpy for?
