Or Eggbeaters - they are better for the mud.
It's good fun but much harder the road cycling. It's the running and jumping-over-obstacles bit that makes it to tiring. And the resistance if the grass is wet and muddy.

I could be tempted to have a go at the CX.
I'll use my 30lb full susser with 5" of travel front and rear if you promise not to lap me?0 -

Reminder about the Glentress visit this Saturday. Meet at the bottom car park for 9am leaving 9.15am for a wee blast round the red route followed by food at the hub cafe afterwards. It will take about 1hr 30 mins max for the lap so a good work out for all.
Hopefully see you there, please post a reply so that we can get the numbers and not leave anyone at the bottom.

Hey Bill,
You could well be right about another member! My mate (Kevin) has been e-mailing me today asking about spending £500-ish on a road bike.
He's been swithering for a while - just need to convince him to take the plunge!
See you Saturday0 -
Excellent mate lets get him captured.
See you Saturday.
Rgds, Bill0 -
Hi All
Not long back from a run with new mbr David.Met at Linlithgow and went Winchburgh,Kirkliston,Dalmeny House,South Queensferry,Lanes to Winchburgh,Faucheldean,Bridgend and then(and i gave him the option,so i dont want you calling me bad names ) KINGSCAVIL,Beecraigs then down Preston Road.Great run of around 34 miles for me,but david still had to get home.... He put in a great showing on Kingscavil, getting up on a 39x25 for his first attempt. (unlike my 30x25 on my first)
See whoever on saturday at Glentress, and I may even be able to get out on Sunday

Will there be anyone at all at the KWM on Saturday?
This could be your last chance of leaving me behind - I've just ordered an i-magic and will be joining the ranks of the turbo trainer saddos soon. Boy, will I be fit and fast.0 -
Fit and fast? What about the drag caused by your beard and pony tail? shurly they gotta go?
OS 650 -
Not to forget my hairy legs. They certainly slow me down.
I could use hairspray to style my hair in the fashion of a TT helmet to make me more aerodynamic.0 -
Nice idea, but you might lose precious seconds if it rains on the 'helmet hair'
OS 650 -
Question is will it look good with the new jersey design?0
-
Hm, good point. I shall give some thought to how to make it waterproof.
Now, the possibilities are endless. I could have a different style every week, just like Cippollini.0 -
It certainly will. As long as we go for a brown and grey jersey, that is.0
-
Hi there,
First time out with wl clarion, good ride, nice pace will be back for more,
See you soon, Andy.0 -
how are next weekend's TT specialists getting on?
i got meself some aerobars and went out for a run today during the world champs coverage to try to get the best position sorted. defo need to concentrate whenever switching hand position from the bars to change gear, brake etc, and dont fancy being on them much in a decent crosswind but they do make you notably faster. will come in handy for flatish sections and even on not-too twisty climbs.0 -
Hi Mamore
Glad to hear you got out - did you make it to the Saturday or Sunday run?
Fathead: I'm using Tribars too, I suspect their weight will add a few seconds up the major climb but that'll be made up on the flat bits...
Matt0 -
Tribars :? I am going retro stylee as it doesn't matter what bars i have got,i will still be first (last) for the club
Mrs P is making a Banana Loaf,or two,for the after TT carb intake on Sunday.
Going out today around 12 for an hours (lunch break) blast from the house.
Went to Glentress with Bill and Stevie and the weather was great.
Mark.0 -
The hill is going to be timed so It'll be interesting to see the diffrence between the flat and hilly bits. You rouleurs guys should be able to make up time on the flat bits.
Best tip I've got is not to change gear too much on the rolling hills, try to plough on keeping the pace as even as possible
The thought of Mrs P's Banana cake 'll keep we going round the route!
OS 650 -
Hi Andy
Glad you enjoyed the ride on Saturday.

Hi OS65,
I was out on the Sat run. Hope to go out on the Sun runs sometime and maybe get my wife out as well on our tandem. I believe you are the man for membership of the Clarion.
Will catch up sometime to get details.
