Hey Bill/Mark,
Sorry I missed the Glentress run on Saturday - I got delayed and didn't make it down until 9.30. We went round the red route in two hours but by the time we came back you guys had left the cafe.
I saw a blue estate car that had Bill's initials on the reg plate - I assume this was you guys? You must have zapped round the route much quicker than we did anyway!
You're right though - it was a brilliant day for it.
Cheers,
Grant0 -
Hey Andy
Yup, I'm your membership geezer so let me know if you want me to send you a form...
A tandem eh? Does this mean you can go for some Tandem TT records?
OS 650 -
Hi Grant
Sorry we missed you... We must have left at 9.15 but we should be a bit more organised and at least taken a phone number  I had a nice Coffee and a huge Flapjack and left to come home around 12.00.Bill and Stevie could not stay for any food.but i met a couple of people that i have not seen in a while and had a chat with them.
Mark.0 -
Yes, was thinking the same thing about the phone numbers as I was speeding down the A702 trying to get there!!
We must have been in the hub at the same time if you left at 12.00 as we finished at 11.30!!
Not to worry, another time.
Cheers,
Grant0 -
TT people, despite posting my entry for the Trossachs on Thursday ahead of a Sunday deadline the organiser STILL hasnt got my entry which is very annoying and a bit worrying....I have been in contact and trying to get things sorted0
-
Hi Fathead.
I noticed you were not on the start sheet, but there are a lot of spaces. The worrying thing for me is that my name IS on the sheet Here's hoping you get it all sorted.
I may get out for an hour later on hopefully to spin the legs in anticipation for Sunday...
Mark.0 -
Just had a fantastic ride into Edinburgh... beautiful day to spin the legs. Went up Kingskavil, 5 times!
Fathead, It looks like there are loads of spaces on the start sheet. did you see that there are a couple of Plowman Craven guys riding? We'll up against the pros! Be interesting to see where we come in the team prize...
OS 650 -
I bet you will be at least as good as last time when you did the TTT

ok ok, contacted the organiser (who is a very nice lady as it happens and owns a clothing store next to big al's wheelcraft) and despite my entry going missing she has entered me! there is a certain f***ing postbox that I have posted two things from - first item was a job application that got returned to sender 4 months after I sent it, and the second item a race entry that disappeared! wont be using it again
me, mrs fathead and blackdug took a drive to aberfoyle today and I did a route recce....first off the aerobars are beginning to feel more natural, they were a good move....managed to use the aerobars on the dukes (which comes at the beggining) till the hairpins but naturally was pretty wasted by the top although I felt good coming along passed loch venacher...the road surface is good here and was even being relaid today.....the surface after thornhill tho is terrible....really looking forward to sunday although I am suffering a bit with a sore chest at the moment :evil:0 -
Went out for a 30 miler yesterday afternoon and felt good.
Does this mean i will be on for a good run on sunday?? :?
Glad you got an entry fathead...

Hi Folks,
fist post 8)
i was wondering if the sunday rides are still going on? and if so where and when?
Would really like to start taking part in them,
I ain't no Lance Armstrong so i will prob be lagging at the back
Cheers0 -
Hi bb, Welcome to the forum
The Sunday runs are into their second week and have been doing well, 10 out last Sunday.
There may well be fewer people out this Sunday - 6 of us are doing the tour of Trossachs and a few other club members are going on a day trip to Arran.
I can't be sure how many people will be at the Cross in Linlithgow, Nevertheless it might be worth popping down to see who is around.
If you'd like to go onto our weekly mail out send me a PM with your email and I'll put you on the list
Cheers

Cheers mate,
Don't think im up 2 any tours just yet!!
What time dp they leave the cross at? how far do they go?
thanks0 -
No Problemo
Tour of the Trossachs will be the first individual TT for 4 of the guys!
We leave 9.00am every Sunday. Last week they rode 50 miles, week before it was 60 both at about 15mph (if average speed sounds a high, remember groups of riders travel faster than individuals without more effort) Some riders went their separate ways after 30 odd miles because they needed to get back home
On Saturday we meet the Korean War Memorial for 8.00 for a short rider - 30 miles
We have a policy that no one gets left behind.
What kind of riding do you do or want to do?

I have a Road Bike mate,so thats what i would want to do,i work most saturdays,so sundays would be the best bet for me,50 miles
15 mph sounds ok though, what routes do you take? [pls don't say forth road bridge?] terrified of heights!0 -
Erm, 4th Road Bridge was crossed two weeks ago and then up through Fife, Back across Kincardine Bridge. Last week up to Carron Valley...0
-
Ohhh Nooooo
really don't think i could cross that beast!
Maybe if i know the route in advance i can decide to go or not0 -
Hi bigbeezer
Welcome....
I am also not too keen on heights, but have cycled and walked over the FRB with my kids.A bit wary at first but wasn't too bad overall.I am sure all would be fine
I have not yet been out on a sunday run as yet,but hope to see you soon.
Cheers

Been on holiday this week, mountain biking and a night on the turbo but not really done much in prep for the ToT which is looming  what have I let myself in for !!!!
Weather is looking good for tomorrow and I have my start time of 10.36 confirmed from Janette so I will be the first of the Clarion bunch away, ring your bell on the way past
See you all tomorrow
Bill0 -
Hi there,
Was full of great intentions of going out this morning then saw the weather and chickened out. Looks good tomorrrow so I will head up to Linlithgow cross tomorrow for 9am and see who is around. 8)

Good luck tommorow everybody who is doing the TOT. I had took a week off after the my trip to the Italian alps with fathead and co. but have been back on the spinning bike and a few rides over the bathgate alps and feel good.
Will get out with you guys soon as I should have more free weekends now the sportive season is finished.
Thats good going with the tri-bars up the dukes pass fathead. Its not quite the Stelvio but its not easy either.Brian B.0 -
Hey lads,
went out on my own 2day,Linlithgow Academey 2 Avonbridge and back, 55 mins,
is that a good time? went up the back of whitecross and straight across the roundabout near maddiston, thought it was quite hilly going thru standburn but the way home was quality0 -
That climb all the way up from Linlithgow Bridge up to Standburn is quite a long, steady drag especially if you are riding into a westerly, which you probably were today. If you take the right just before Standburn (the East Boxton Road) you get good views off to each side and a cracking descent down (left) into Avonbridge.
4 out on the WLC Sunday ride. I only had time for the shortcut between Kincardine/Forth bridges but still clocked up 53 miles. Hope the others enjoyed the long way round, it was a great autumn afternoon after that cold start. Good to meet you all.0 -
Hi all,
Went out on the Sunday run today. 4 turned up includingmyself, Graeme from Brightons, Simon who has went out on some Sat runs and Neil who usually goes out with the Linlithgow cycle group. We headed over the Kincardine to Dollar, Powmill with coffee stop back through Saline, Rosyth, Forth bridge and home. I had 73 miles by the time I got back to Bathgate at about 2pm. Great day for it with the good weather.

I unfortunately had to call off the Arran away day due to car failing MOT on Friday and needing to shell out £115 on exhaust repairs
Looks like the guys got a great day for it though.
How did the others get on in the Trossachs? I may give it a bash next year!
As it was - I managed out for a local loop of 15 miles last night with 500 metres of climbing which took me all of 70 minutes!!
Halfway up Tak Ma Doon road I decided enough was enough and turned around only the second time I've had to do this - nothing in the legs - very weird
Cheers,
Grant
P.S. is hill climb still taking place next weekend?0 -
6 of us rode the Tour de Trossachs on Sunday. We were the club with the 3rd largest contingent, equalling Glasgow Couriers and Striling Tri and had more members taking part that well established clubs like Glasgow Wheelers, Velo Ecosse, Perth, Kennoway, Mussselburgh, Dunfermaline, Falkirk and Denny RC
Well done for giving it a go and doing the club proud! A great turn out for any club never mind one as young os ours
It was a great days racing, organisation was brilliant and the Marshals did more than thy needed too. Its a very demanding route - Aberfoyle, Dukes Pass, Callander, Thorn Hil and Back to Aberfoyle.
The ride up the Dukes pass was timed along with the whole route, and after the pass the road rolled along, with only a couple of flat, straight bits on the whole course.
This Doyenne of Scottish Time trialing is worth riding next year, its something special to aim for.
Winner of the event outright: Arthur Doyle 1.04.08 - time up dukes pass (DP): 13.22
The Clarion:
Matt: 1.16.28 DP: 17.03
Sadiq 1.21.52 DP 18.50
Tim: 1.22.09 DP 19.04
Stevie: 1.23.31 DP 18.45
Bill: 1.27.03 DP 19.12
Mark: 1.33.21 DP 21.51
Matt wins the Trossachs trophy this year!
OS 650 -
Hi Matt,
Can you recall where the start and finish of the Duke's Pass climb was timed?
Would be interesting to give it a bash next time I'm up that way!
From memory I've only ridden it on my full susser and I think I completed it in just under 1 day!
P.S. impressive times for the guys - well done! That road Ben Venue to Callander is deceptively not flat as you say!!0 -
Hey Grant
You've got to be in the right mood to climb monsters like the Tak...
The dukes pass was timed from the right hand corner in Aberfoyle to the point where it starts to descend at the top, about 2 miles there abouts.
There was a pretty descent climb between Callander and Thorn Hill too!
OS 650 -
Grant,
Hill climb next week, meet at Linlithgow cross at 9am then we will all ride along to the BEASTY !!!!!!
Rgds, Bill0 -
