Well done to everyone who road the TTT on Sunday. Think I will try it next year if I can shed a few stone.

Just wondering if anyone will be out on Wednesday for a run. Looked at met site which shows it to be sunny and about 13C

I'm in Larbert and would would be happy to cycle to LInlithgow to meet up.

    David,

I will struggle this week to get out at night as I have relatives from America staying at mine so will need to grab some turbo sessions up until Saturday morning.

    Are you out on Saturday?

Sorry, should have clarified that I am off on Wednesday and would be happy to go out early morning or afternoon.

I am back shift on Saturday so I would be happy to go out. Would manage long miles but not at fast pace.

Are you meeting at the Cross on Sunday as well.

If so what time and I will come across from larbert

    David,

We will be leaving from the KWM at 8am on Saturday for a 35 to 50 miler at a steady pace as we have the hill climb on Sunday. We will be meeting on Sunday at 9am at the cross in Linlithgow and then we will all be riding along to Kingscavil, 2 miles outside Linlithgow, for the hill climb.

Are you up for both days?

Yes I would be up for both days. I am back shift on Friday so as long as I get finished at reasonable time I will be at the KWM for 8am.

Can you tell me where that is. I would cycle to Linlithgow and would come in from the Larbert side. Is it far from Linlithgow town. I have 11 miles to get there. If it is far then I will put the bike in the car.

    Thanks again

    David
  • How can i tell if i have my bike set up the right way? Also sometimes my feet get really sore when cycling,im gonna fiddle about with the cleats to try and sort that one!
When you are cycling, does your foot have to point a certain way? mine are just flat and i don't fell im getting maximum spin when peddling,do you have to pull hard when your clipped in or is it just a smooth circular motion?

    cheers folks.

bigbeezer, its hard to diagnose any problems you are having without seeing you on the bike, next time you are out with the group I am sure someone will give you some pointers. IME saddle height is one of the most common problems with set up and this may make you feel like you aint getting maximum power on the pedal stroke....

congrats to OS65 for picking up the inaugral WLC Trossachs trophy, lets hope there is more of a challenge next year  :P

    Hi BB
There are some basic rules to follow here:

    http://www.jimlangley.net/crank/bikefit.html

The angle of your foot when clipped in should be the same as your natural foot angle when not clipped in.

Sit on a table and dangle your legs over the edge, look down at how your feet naturally angle themselves - that should be how they look on the bike.

Sore feet sounds more like the shoes don't fit probably. A poorly angled foot normally causes knee pain... but I'm no expert

When you pedal is should be a smooth transition between pushing on the down stroke and pulling on the up stroke.

But as Fathead said, best to come out on a run and we could try to help.

Well, judging by Matt's second photo, no-one was taking that Clarion Trossachs Trophy from his cabinet this year! :P

I'm going to have to start turbo training in front of a mirror so I can practice an expression of 'focused determination' like Tim and Sadiq instead of the 'mentalist' one I'm using at the moment

Yes, there was something reminiscent of 'The Shining' in that picture!

I don't know if you're interested in new members, but I'd be interested in coming along to the Saturday morning runs (work permitting), provided you're happy for me to bring the average speed down :D

I fancy giving group riding a go, but have very limited experience of it. I do know the "Bathgate Alps" pretty well, though. I'm going to be in the area of the KWM this Saturday morning anyway.

Sunday mornings are a bit of a problem due to family etc, but I might be able make it along to the odd one of those.
  • Thanks folks,

ill deffo try and get out on a ride with you guys soon,i'll be the bright ref one at the back   Need to get fit!

    TOTT photos looked really good!

along to Kirkliston,Dalmeny,Sth Queensferry and then some back roads to Winchburgh and back along to Linlithgow! felt great! I tried to work on my pedal stroke  wasn't the highest av speed 12mph,but i swear i was cycling into the wind whichever direction i was going :? :D
I can feel my feet slipping in my should in my shoes mso maybe they might be 2 big for me? would that affect my peddling? I might go out to Kingscavil to see you guys in action on sunday!

Went out today with Robin and Co today. Met in Larbert then went towards Clackmannan then into Bridge of Allan for lunch. After lunch returned to Larbert then hid behind Robin whilst he rode into the wind into Falkirkshire before returning on my own to Larbert. Great weather, great crack and good food.

Managed nearly 74 miles. I drove up from Larbert yesterday to the KWM and noted that the last 3 miles were travelling high into the clouds. Dont think I can make the Saturday run as I would need to leave my house in Larbert about 0630hrs after finishing work at 0300hrs.

I will try and sneek away early on Sunday morning (hopefully 0100hrs) so I can meet everyone at 0900hrs for the Sunday Hill Climb. My intention is to ride out ro the Hill Climb with you and watch from the sidelines. I will bring a note from my mother to prevent being persuaded to join in the madness.

Good luck to all on Sunday

    KINGSCAVIL HILL CLIMB TT CANCELLED

david, the hill climb this sunday has been cancelled on the advice of others due to certain safety procedures not being met, i.e informing the police

we will organise it another time having gone through all necessary procedures

Bigbeezer, my average speed was 15.6mph by the time I returned to my home address. Don't worry about that though as the sunday run I went on a few weeks ago was all about the miles and having a good laugh rather than a high average speed which I could not manage anyway.

Will see you on Sunday if you can make .

    Regards

Fathead, when the new date is known for the Hill Climb please advise. Although I will not be taking part in the climb itself I think I may be able to assist with liaising with the Police and ensuring that there are no unforseen last minute problems.

I would appreciate at least 14 days notice which will allow me to ensure that the Police side of things can be arranged in accordance with the clubs needs and their operational requirements.

Hey Folks. Well done to everybody who rode the time trial at the weekend - well impressed. Might do it next year myself.

Not been able to get out on a club ride the last few weekends but keen to get out either Sat or Sun this weekend. If the hill climb is cancelled, is anybody planning to head out on Sunday instead?

There will be a ride out on Sat and Sun this week with the hill climb being cancelled so 8am at the KWM or 9am at Linithgow cross.
We may have to lok at changing the Sat start time due to the dark mornings so keep your eye on the post for future changes.

Hope to see you at the weekend.
