Did 55:37 this evening. Very chuffed. It's my first three laps of the year and I haven't been out on the bike since last Friday due to child no. 2 having just come along. I've guessed my weight. I was 79-odd last Friday and got through a lot of ice cream since then. [:D] Which reminds me, there's some left in the freezer...FCN 2-4.

Just checked my HRM again. The time was 55:27. 18:08-18:46-18:33.FCN 2-4.

Just added my trundle of this afternoon of 58:31 in beautiful weather but a lot of traffic!0 -
58:31 a trundle?
It's eyeballs out and no traffic for me to get round in that kind of time. Well done.
Tried to better my PB yesterday but failed at 58:45, despite an increasingly desperate effort. Can't blame the stiff northerly breeze, 'cos it was a great help up Saywers hill.
All good training though, of course...0 -

A two minute improvement is good work urrrrs.
Go clockwise and you'll improve your leg strength by going the harder way around.FCN 2-4.

Excellent! Nothing would please me more than you moving up the table (providing it doesn't turn you into a miserable undernourished old git!)[:D]
Go clockwise next time - you are in control! (Although, if you are anything like me you will be gasping "Oh **** this hill- I can't possibly get any slower..." gasp.)
Well done.
We must go for a ride round sometime - that should clear a path through the racers climbing like mountain goats, accelerating like cheetahs! We would probably be reminiscent of those anti-tank mine thingys in the First World War, flailing all before us...[:D]

Sadly it doesn't move me up the chart. I was on course for 3 x 24:30 but I got held up on the last part of the last lap by two families crossing , deer then humans.

No.2 arrived on Friday, a little late but put in a fine sprint at the finish. It will be a while before either of us are on a bike but I'll still be checking to see how my time holds up in the mean time.
Take care.

Just put in my first attempt at this today (in warm conditions) and did it in 58:57.
I was a bit too keen on the first lap recording a time of 18:29 and as a result suffered on my second lap at 21:02 but came back stronger on the third at 19.66. I think I can beat this next time if I pace myself better. I did a fourth lap (after a 30 min break) following a couple of guys on Cervelos and it seemed a more comfortable but quicker lap than my first. Think it would be much easier to get a good time with someone to cycle the 3 laps with. I will try again next weekend. My target is to be sub 56 this summer. Can't imagine how Shavedlegs did it in sub 50. That really is going some!! Congratulations on the new arrival too!0 -

Great news. Hope Mrs Shavedlegs and no. 2 are doing well.
I don't know how you plan bedtimes, but I find I can make it to the Park between 7.30/8pm - 9pm and my no. 2 was born last Monday. By that time, no. 1 has gone to bed and I can't feed no. 2 yet, so I can get out for a bit. I reckon I'll be able to get out every other evening for 1-1.5 hours. So far, I've had two rides in the Park this week.FCN 2-4.

Sorry urrrs, brain went missing for a bit.
Btw, re your other post about beanpoles, is that a challenge to doughnuts at dawn?[:D]
Did 55:34 last night anti-c'wise, so missed a PB by 7 seconds. Deliberately stayed in the big gears all the way round to try to give the legs a hammering before the Dragon Ride and it was a bit of a strain getting up the hills. Wasn't actually going for a PB so not sure yet if I've stumbled upon a faster way of getting round.

Cheers CJ, I better wait a little while before letting on to my 'significant other'that I have spent the last 5 days thinking of how to get on my bike.
I spent the early hours of this morning driving around parliment square to get the chap asleep. Eventually I was stopped by the police on suspicion of terroism. I was slighty disappointed not to be nicked as the peace and quiet of a cell was beginning to appeal. When I returned proudly at 4am with him asleep, the two year bounded down the stairs wanting a yoghurt.
Back to cycle talk. I'm planning on using my fixed to transport the eldest to nursery on Wednesday afternoon. I may sneak in a lap on two before going home, I'm curious about Brixtonfixed times, seems to me once he's on his new machine he'll be flying.
Do I get a time allowance for having a child seat attached?
www.blog.shavedlegs.co.uk0 -
Hey Shavedlegs, congrats on the new arrival. As a father of two I can well sympathise with that whole 'driving round the block' phase of life. Don't forget that it soon passes: I've just ordered a new Islabike for the five year-old so that the three year-old can have the Ridgeback he's outgrown. Fatherhood is ultimately just an excuse for buying more bikes.
Respect for carrying a two year-old on fixed: given your RP times I reckon you need a child seat just to get back to mere mortal status!
I'll be blatting round there on the Pearson from about 5pm today so if I fail to catch someone on a fix/childseat combo at least I won't feel too bad about it!
New machine (Enigma Esprit) arrives Friday AM, just (phew!) in time for the Polka Dot Challenge on Sunday. I'm hoping it'll help me climb up the RP placings a bit, but I don't reckon on approaching the sub-56 crowd any time soon, unless I can lay off the pies a bit!0 -

Why on earth would you want to do that?
(As I type, I am waiting for the brownies I just baked to cool down. They will go very nicely with the ice cream I intend to have tonight).
Anyone on here doing the Dragon Ride in a couple of weeks? Sorry, that should probably be for another thread.FCN 2-4.

Yeah, you're right, CJ. One of the great things about cycling is that you can keep eating the pies with no ill effects. And as an experienced cyclist once said to me: "ultimately, the only thing that matters is how hard you press on the pedals".
And I'd have cracked my PB yesterday if it hadn't been for those meddling deer...0 -
Hopefully will have the motivation to carry on past my house to RP on the way home tonight. We'll see if I can resist the pub for long enough to put in 3 laps. I'm guessing it'll be about 1h 12m.

Just had 10 days off the bike due to the birth of my first kid (a couple of days after shavedlegs i think). Celebrated this afternoon with a 57.35 3 lap effort. Well chuffed, on both fronts!0
-
Did a 58:48 on the way home tonight - went out a bit hard and struggled a bit in the wind on the last lap - sub 50 is an incredible time - way out of my league!!!

First lap ok, suffered on the other two.
23:50, 25:02, 25:51
Still got 7kg to lose. Not bad for 71" fixed, will try it with gears one day soon.

New time for me last night 57:20. Almost perfect conditions, a little rain to keep me cool and hardly any cars. A bit gutted that I missed 15th by 1 second but thats just the way it goes.
